THE SPORTSMAN.

Saddle the pony	備馬	Pay mah.
Where are the dogs?	狗在那兒	Ko dzi nar?
Call the mahfoo	叫馬夫來	Cheeow mahfoo li.
I don't want this saddle	不要這個鞍子	Poo yow chayka ahndza.
Bring the bridle	拿嚼子來	Na cheeowdza li.
There's no halter	沒有籠頭	Mayo loongt'o.
This stirrup is too long	這個馬鐙長	Chayka mahtung ch'ahng.
That one is too short	那個馬鐙短	Nahka mahtung tooahn.
Bring my whip	拿鞭子來	Nah pe-endza li.
I want to ride the bay pony	我要騎紅馬	Waw yow ch'ee hoong mah.
I'll ride the white pony to-morrow	明天要騎白馬	Mingt'e-enn yow ch'ee pi mah.
You haven't fed him	你沒有餧他	Nee mayo way-t'ah.
You only give him chopped straw	你竟給他短草	Nee jing kay t'ah tooahn ts'ow.
You must also give him Indian corn	你還得給他棒子	Nee hi tay kay t'ah pahngdza.
Bring a bucket of water	拿一筲水	Nah yee show shooey.
This girth won't do	這個肚帶不行	Chayka too-ti poo shing.
Get a fresh one	換一個新的	Hwahn yeeka sheenty.
Get him shod to-morrow	明天給他釘掌	Mingt'e-enn kay t'ah ting jahng.
This stable is draughty	這個馬棚透風	Chayka mahp'ung t'o fung.
You must put a pane of glass here	這兒要配一塊玻璃	Cher yow p'ay yeek'wi pawlee.
Feed the dogs	餧狗	Way ko.
Where's the big dog?	大狗在那兒	Tah ko dzi nar?
The small dog has not come back	小狗沒回來	Sheeow ko may hooey-li.
Are there any hares here?	這個地方有野貓沒有	Chayka teefahng yo yaymow mayo?
Are there any foxes ?	有狐狸沒有	Yo hoolee mayo?
The pony is hot; don't feed him yet	馬出了汗先不要餧他	Mah ch'oola hahn; sheen poo yow way t'ah.
I want to buy a good pony	我要買一匹好馬	Waw yow mi yee p'ee how mah.
This pony is not fast, or, won't do for racing	這個馬跑得不快	Chayka mah, p'owta poo k'wi.
A good pony is very dear now	好馬現在狠貴	How mah she-en-dzi hun kooey.
Are there any wolves here?	這兒有狼沒有	Cher yo lahng mayo?
Walk my pony about	把馬蹓一蹓	Pah mah layo-layo.
A fox! a fox! Let go the dogs!	狐狸狐狸放狗放狗	Hoolee! hoolee! Fahng ko, fahng ko!
