Missing pages clarification

[edit]

@ShakespeareFan00: can you clarify your notes about missing pages? I have the book from the library and am planning to repair the file. But I'm not sure what the "fp" notes refer to. I thought maybe "following page" but the sequence of pages in the vicinity of those two appears intact. Maybe you could say which scan numbers as opposed to numbered pages? Thanks as always for your efforts to find and document this stuff. -Pete (talk) 23:44, 23 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00: I have attempted adding one page (page 705 in the book, at position 730 by scan number) as a test. The document appears correct on my desktop computer (the scan quality is fairly low, but I think good enough for present purposes). However, I can't figure out how to get the MediaWiki software to properly recognize it. I'm sure it's a cacheing issue of some sort, but I've refreshed and purged with no success. It briefly flashes the correct scan on the screen, then replaces it with page 706 from the original scan. Any ideas?
(And, just to address a potential confusion, not a complaint at all...I did notice that you had marked pages 705 and 706 as missing, but in fact it seems to be 704 and 705 that were missing. So, the one I've attempted to add is the last missing one in the sequence; it seems to me the simplest way is to start at the end and work back to the beginning, otherwise I'll surely get very confused by the shifting numbers.)
For future reference, the command I'm using has pretty straightforward syntax, like so:
djvm -i History_of_Oregon_Literature.djvu 705.djvu 730

I'm pretty sure I've added all the missing pages now, with the exception of pp. 132-133 for which I added placeholders and marked the pages "problematic." I've updated the pagelist through scan page 327, completing that will be the next priority. Finally it will be necessary to move the proofread pages to their proper locations, and update a couple of transcluded chapters. (I think it's probably safe to delete the un-proofread pages above p. 100, as very little work has gone into them, and that might make things less confusing.) -Pete (talk) 00:36, 2 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
