Hi @ShakespeareFan00: you marked this as needing repair back in 2019. Do you know what the problem is? I've found there are some alternate scans available, I'd be happy to fix it if I knew what the problem was. (In general, I think a note on the index talk page would be helpful in cases like this.) Thanks as always for your efforts! -Pete (talk) 20:01, 6 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Peteforsyth: - Duplicated front pages, and the absence of images in the scans ( a known issue with Google scans that are converted to DJVU.) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 09:31, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

@ShakespeareFan00: Thanks! I had found these things too since posting the question. Glad to know it's not more than that. The banner seems a bit more alarmist than it needs to be, it seems that proofreading is still worthwhile and shouldn't be contingent on solving those problems. But I'll see what I can do about replacing or repairing the underlying file with a better scan. -Pete (talk) 21:15, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Found it at Hathi, will work on it from here [1] -Pete (talk) 21:29, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Well. Hours later, I DID manage to make a perfectly good DJVU file, based on the Hathi Trust images; but it's more than 100MB (it's like 115), so I can't upload it (without jumping through even more hoops) to Commons. Then, of course, I go looking to upload it to Internet Archive, so maybe I could transfer from there. Turns out, there IS in fact a good scan there IA, which I somehow missed before. But, the pagination is wrong, so there's no simple way to transfer everything to it. So, I'm irritated and frustrated and don't see a path forward without uploading another, redundant, file to IA. Argh. -Pete (talk) 08:55, 9 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
