Play layout

The pages of the play each have 3 sections. The first is the text, the second is critical footnotes, the third is explanatory footnotes.

For each scene in the play use section markers "TextAb", "CritAb", and "ExplAb" (where A=Act number and b=Scene number in roman numerals). For example Act IV Scene ii will be "TextIVii", "CritIVii", and "ExplIVii".

For the Text section use {{playscript}} with <br /> between lines of the same speech. {{pline}} is inserted before the break or end of template on every 5th line. Align the line numbers to the right.

For the Crit and Expl sections use {{smaller}} around the text within the section. Use <br /> between each note in both sections. Unless it is the last note for a scene, insert a break at the end of each section. This will ensure that the notes will transclude properly.

Insert {{ref|*}} at the appropriate place in the text for each Critical note and {{ref|†}} for each Explanatory note. Sometimes both will occur together. These markers are not already in the text and they are being added to make the text easier to use.

Struck paragraphs above that aren't how I've actually done it.

Use <ref group="C"></ref> and <ref group="E"></ref> at the places in the text referred to in the two sets of footnotes. Some footnotes go over the page, so use the standard technique of "naming" the reference. You can combine group and name in the same ref tag.

Use {{rbstagedir}} for right margin stage directions. Centre ({{c}}) those that are centred (mostly Enter Character). Beeswaxcandle (talk) 08:41, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Spacing of Quarto and Folio references

Should there be a space between the letter and the number (e.g. Q 1 or Q1)? There are currently examples of both in the text. —CalendulaAsteraceae (talk) 07:38, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

I see that when I did the second half of this work, I used a space throughout. Probably best to bring the earlier pages into alignment with this. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 09:17, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
