@RaboKarbakian: What does "at the beginning" mean? It's not before page index 1 because that's the cover, and it's not right after 1 because that's the inside cover. At what page index in the original file should the list of pages be inserted? --Xover (talk) 20:31, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Xover, hmm, you are right. The tiff should start at Page:St. Nicholas (serial) (IA stnicholasserial4521dodg).pdf/2 and all of the djvu starting with Page:St. Nicholas (serial) (IA stnicholasserial4521dodg).pdf/2 and ending with Page:St. Nicholas (serial) (IA stnicholasserial4521dodg).pdf/8 can be deleted. I have a tendency not to take the covers from the rebinds as seriously as the originals.... Thank you for catching this!--RaboKarbakian (talk) 20:42, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@RaboKarbakian: Book binding, and rebinding, is an important component of historical and bibliographic scholarship. Just because these magazines were rebound into volumes after the fact doesn't make the details any less interesting (just look at the surviving copies of the First Folio for an extreme example). As much as possible we should try to respect that, especially when we are "cheating" by combining scans as we are here.
I also notice you have File:St Nicholas-Vol. 45-Pt 2-seq 005.tif listed twice. I assume that was a mistake and the last one should be replaced by File:St Nicholas-Vol. 45-Pt 2-seq 008.tif? Xover (talk) 06:29, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Xover Yes, a mistake, for sure. A second set of eyes is both needed and greatly appreciated.
The magazine offered to bind the issues for less than 2 dollars (iirc). So, there volumes here which had that particular binding. See Page:St. Nicholas (serial) (IA stnicholasserial06dodg).pdf/1 The details of this dealie were part of the fine print of each issues table of contents. Hence, is the nature of my cover bias. --RaboKarbakian (talk) 14:41, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
