Statement of the Government



In response to the abdication of the royal throne by His Majesty the King, the Government would like to state to the public for its general knowledge as follows: Since the country of Siam changed its administration from an absolute monarchy to an administrative regime in which the monarch is under the constitution, the Government had been able to administer the Country in an orderly manner through the transcendent authority of His Majesty the King.

Later in 2476 BE,[1] His Majesty the King informed the Government of His desire to go abroad for the second time for the treatment of His eyes.

Having learnt such an idea of His Majesty, the Cabinet met to discuss and passed a resolution that, during the said period of time, a rebellion[2] had just been concluded, the Nation had not yet been restored to law and order, and the return of His Majesty the King to stay in Bangkok Metropolis filled the public with great warmth. Thus, if He were to go abroad for the treatment of His eyes at this moment, it would cause
