בורזינקא m. (a comp. of בור a. ינקא, v. זנק) a leaping well, i e. a well which springs forth periodically to disappear again (v. Is. LVIII, 11). Sabb. 77b ed. in two words (corr. acc.; cmp. בורדם; Ms. M. זיקנא בור, corr. acc.), phonetic etymol. נקי זה בור this well is empty. [Syr. זנקא בר ocrea, זינקא בור tiara, P. Sm. 586 sq., Nold. Mand. Gr. p. 20 (cmp. בירית, בורכייר) have nothing to do with our w.]
*בורטיא m. (a corrupt. of verutum, βηρυττα, S.) spit. Sabb. 146a בב׳ . . . למיברז to break open a barrel (of dates) by jamming a spit between the splices (Ms M. קורבוי׳, Alf. ed. Cost. ברזיתא). Snh. 27b top דב׳ קתא the handle of a burtya.
בורי f, pl. בוראות, בורייות (בור I) trees which fail to thrive ofer transplantation. B. Bath. 95a עשר עליו מקבל למאה ב׳ Ms. H. a. Ar. (ed. בורייות, בוריות, Ms. MM. טראות לסאה corr. acc.) the owner must be prepared for ten failures out of one hundred trees planted (and has no claim on the contractor).
