דדד (b. h.), Pi. רדד (cmp. ירד) [to lower,] to flatten, stamp, beat. Tosef. M. Kat. I, 4 וכ׳ ה)אדמה) ומרדד (Var. ומדדיד) and beats the ground under it (to kill the moles); Y. ib. , 80c; Bab. ib. 7a ומרדה (Ms. M. ומדדה), v. רדה I. Tam. רדי, רדה I (b. h.; cmp. דדר) [to stamp, tread,] 1) (cmp. בעט) to rebel, be contumacious. Yoma 40b למינין . . . אל לררות Ms. M. (ed. לצדוקים) give the heretics no occasion to rebel (to argue in favor of their heresy); Tosef. ib. III (I), 2 אחריכם לרדות ed. Zuck. (Var. אחריהם לרדותן, corr. acc.) to rebel after you are gone; Par. III, 3; Sifra, Vayikra, N'dab., ch. II, Par. 2. - 2) to chastise. Mekh.
