10 April (p.2) under almost all logs, etc. Much water about. Cottontail seen, also. Also captured a large (approximately 5') Elaphe obsoleta from under a rock about 1 3/4 ft. in diameter. Other herps collected in the area by members of the group included Storeria dekayi, Thamnophis sp., Carphophis amoenus, Sceloporus undulatus, and Lampropeltis (which escaped). About 12 N, assembled and drove into Galena, where ate. Then drove to same campground as last year, 1 mi. N & 3 mi. E Riverton, Cherokee Co., Kans. Spent some time cataloging specimens, etc., then I drove into Galena and then Riverton to get gas and water, then returned to camp. Hunted north of camp along stream; in dump area where got 1 Sceloporus undulatus; in oak woods, where got 1 Lygosoma laterale in a damp draw & a Terrapene carolina from the uplands. Shortly after 5 pm, drove into Galena & ate, then split up, the 2 vehicles going their own ways. We drove to Riverton and examined the swampy area just E of the river. Then south via the paved road head south along the east side of the Spring River & reservoir, then west to Baxter Springs, N and E to Riverton,
