10 April (p.3) east to road to camp. Drove northerly on this for a while then took the major branch to the west, leading us to approx. 1 mi. N & 1/2 mi. E Riverton, Cherokee Co., Kans. Bufos heard calling here, so stopped and started stalking. Soon also hearing Rana pipiens and what turned out to be Hyla versicolor. I collected one of the latter and 9 Bufo americanus. Many of the latter along bank, some collected in the water, usually in association with clumps of vegetation. Same for Hyla. Tony collected a Natrix. The area is separate from the river, which lies just to the west, and is mainly of grasses submerged & emergence. Depth of water to about 2 feet. From this locality drove to a small (perhaps 35' x 12") pool alongside the road leading from US 66 to camping area--near an apparently abandoned schoolhouse. Numerous Hyla calling here & a number taken--I collected 3. Also a Pseudacris nigrita collected. Last year we collected B. americanus from this pool and nothing else. Locality is estimated at approximately 1/2 mi. N & 2 mil. E Riverton, Cherokee Co., Kans. Then drove to Galena, south from Galena and then west to the south end of the paved road that runs along the east side of the Spring and drove north on this. Heard a large chorus just north of the
