Bound in vellum with gold lettering on the cover and spine; gilt top. 102 numbered pages, 7⅞×10¼. Eight full-page illustrations in colour mounted on white paper and thirty drawings in black and white; also pictorial end-papers in half-tone and yellow. This edition is limited to 250 copies for sale in England and 125 copies for sale in the United States, all signed by the artist.

There is a trade edition bound in green cloth with pictorial stamping in gold on the cover and gold lettering on the cover and spine; gilt top. This edition has the same number of pages, the same number of illustrations and the same pictorial end-papers as the limited edition. Size of page, 7⅜×9¾. There is also a binding in antique leather.

American Edition: Bound in brown cloth with a picture of “The Headless Horseman” pasted on the cover with the lettering at the bottom of the picture. This is the same picture that was used for the dust wrapper of both trade editions. The lettering on the spine is in gold. This edition has the same number of illustrations as the English trade edition and the same end-papers. Published by David McKay Company, Philadelphia. The limited edition is the same as the English edition, except for the name of the publisher on the title page and on the spine.
