women. Johnson, Lorenzo M., civil engineer, railroad man, was born Jan. 22, 1843, in KochMass. He graduated from Yale university. He served in the Unittnl Stat«« coast survey, in the pay department of the United States army and in the United States consular service. He was civil engineer, paymaster, a.ssistant superintendent an<l acting superintendent of the Keokuk and Des Moines railway; general manager and later vice-president of the Cairo and St. Louis railroad; and assistant to the I'lilliiian company during the construction of the town of Pullman.
