On motion of Mr. Martin, the said bill was referred to the committee on the judiciary.
On motion of Mr. Hascall, the bill repealing a part of the twenty-fifth section of the act for the punishment of crimes, was read a second time by its title.
On motion of Mr. Farnsworth, the Council resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill to provide for the maintenance and protection of the poor, residing within the limits of the city of Detroit; and, after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and Mr. Hascall reported that the committee of the whole had had under consideration the said bill, and instructed him to report the same without amendment.
The bill was ordered to be engrossed and read a third time tomorrow.
On motion of Mr. Hascall, the Council resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill relative to the county of Shiawasse; and, after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and Mr. Doty reported, that the committee of the whole had had the said bill under consideration, and instructed him to report progress.
On motion of Mr. Doty, the bill was referred to the committee on territorial affairs.
On motion of Mr. Bacon, the Council resolved itself into a committee of the whole on the bill to provide for establishing seats of justice; and, after some time spent therein, the committee rose, and Mr. Britain reported, that the committee of the whole had had the said bill under consideration, and instructed him to report progress, and ask leave to sit again.
Leave was accordingly granted.
The Council adjourned to 10 o’clock A. M. tomorrow.
Mr. Satterlee presented a communication from E. S. Parke, in relation to the place designated by law for holding the first township meeting in West Bloomfield, county of Oakland. Referred to the committee on territorial affairs.

Resolved, That the judiciary committee inquire into the expediency of making a translation and explanation of such latin or technical words and phrases as may appear to require the same, contained in the statute laws of this territory, condensed and revised last session of the Legislative Council; and report by bill or otherwise.
On motion of Mr. Satterlee,
Resolved, That the committee on terrritorial affairs be instructed to inquire into the expediency of passing a law for the inspection of plank, boards, shingles and other lumber, in such counties or districts in the Territory as may be found necessary.
