PREFACE.

The prosecutors and persecutors of Landis, we think, felt as though they were doing God's service to get him out of their way; because he was a thorn in their pious sides for many years, boldly and fearlessly having taught as one having authority. In fact, Landis is about one hundred years ahead of the age in which he lives; therefore, neither the prosecutors nor persecutors were capable of comprehending his scientific reformatory movements; hence, they should rather be pitied, than punished for their ignorance and arrogance!
