Whenever I want to carry out the Christian mandate: "Love thy neighbor as thyself," some rude gossiper howls out, "Landis is making love to Mrs. Williams." I wish other people would mind their own business!


I am indeed sorry to proclaim it, but it is nevertheless as true as preaching, that the filthiest eaters, drinkers and snifflers claim the most refinement and modesty. They being soiled, require some acts to show that they are not as dirty as they seem; hence, this turning up of noses at natural things.
