I. Commiffions fhall be awarded to certain Perfon?, to inquire what and how many Caftles, Fortrefles, Vil- lages, Houfes and Habitations, have been decayed within- the Counties of Northumberland, Weftmerland, and the Bifhoprick of Durham, and by whom, and by what Means, and how many are meet to be re-edified, and how many are fit to be made of new, and in what Places ; and what Parts o the laid Counties and Bilhop- eicks be apt to be inclofed, and converted to Tillage, or other neceuary Manurance ; and what Perl be Owners, Lords, Fermors and PofTclTors of the lame, or claim any Intcrcd therein, and what Kftate. they have ; and thereupon to lake fuch Order for the Re-edifying of fuch Caftles, Houfes c_. an 1 for the new electing of others, and for the Inclofing of fuch Parts as fhall be thought convenient. Which Com- niiilioncrs fhall and may bind by Recognifance in good Sums of Money to the King and Queen's Ufe, the Perfons offending in any Decays or Defaults, for the Re-edifying of decayed Houfes, for the converting of Failure into Tillage again, and for the Deftroying and Diminiihing of Conies in a Ground in or near - any Corn Field, not being lawful Warren. EXP. CAP. III. An Acl for the keeping of Milch Kine, and for breeding and rearing of Calves. T70rafmuch as of late Years a great Number of Perfons within this Realm have laid their Lands, Farms ' J/ and Paftures to feeding of Sheep, Oxen, Runts, Schrubs, Steers and Heifers, and fuch other like ' Cattle, having no Regard or Care to breed and rear up young Beads and Cattle, whereby is grown great ' Scarcity of Cattle, and Victual necelTary for the Suftenancc of divers Sorts of People within this Realm, ' and more is like to be, if fpeedy Remedy* be not provided.' II. III. And that every Perfon which after the aforefaid Fertft of the Purification of our Lady, upon his or a Milch Cow. her feveral Paftures as afore is faid, ihall keep or feed above the Number of twenty Oxen, Runts, Shrubs, "1 r Steers, Heifers or Kine, fliall by Authority of this Act, for every ten Beafts of the laid Sorts fo kept and tel l?" fed, keep and nourifh one Milch Cow, and breed, rear and waine yearly, and keep for one whole Year, j^-jf,; one Calf for every two Milch Kine fo charged to be kept, upon the feveral Pains and Forfeitures afore' rehcatfed, except the faid Calf or Calves fhall chance to die within the faid Year, without Covin or Fraud thereto added ; (2) the one Half of which faid Forfeitures fliall be to the Ufe of our laid Sovereign Lord and l.ady the King and Queen's Majefties ; and the other Half to the Ufe of the Party that within one Yc?r . the Offence committed, will fue for the fame in any of the King and Queen's Majefties Courts of Record, or before the Juftices of Peace in the fame Shire where any fuch Gaufe of Forfeiture fhr.ll be had, at the Ge- neral Seflions (who by Authority of this AcT fliall have Power to hear and determine the faid Offences) Vol. II.
