Wax ; {hall lofe and forfeit the faid Wax, the one Moiety thereof to be to the Queen's Majefty, and the other to the Party deceived, if he fhall fue for the fame ; or otherwife to him or them that will fue for the fame, as is aforefaid : (2) And that all Barrels, Kilderkins and Firkins filled with Honey by the Maker and Filler fhall be marked with two Letters {landing for his Name and Surname, each Letter of an Inch and' an Half of Length at the leaft, burnt upon the Head of the Calk with a hot Iron ; (3) upon the Pain to for- feit fix Shillings Eight-pence for every Barrel, Kilderkin, Firkin or Cafk, fold or offered to be fold, and The Content of not f° marked : (4.) And that if any Perfon or Perfons do or fhall after the four and twentieth Day oiAuguji svery VeflH for next coming after the End of this SefTion of Parliament, fill and fell, orcaufe to be filled or fold, or offered Honey to be to be fold, any Barrel, Kilderkin or Firkin with Honey, for or in the Name of a Barrel, Kilderkin or iuid - Firkin, containing lefs than two and thirty Wine Gallons the Barrel, fixteen Wine Gallons the Kilder- kin, and eight Win; Gallons the Firkin ; every Perfon and Perfons fo offending fhall forfeit and lofe for The Penalty for every Half Gallon fo lacking, five Shillings of Englijb Money : (5) And every Perfon and Perfons that fhall corrupt the Honey fo fold or to be fold with any deceitful Mixture, fhall forfeit the Barrel or Veffel, and Honey therein contained ; the one Moiety whereof to be to our faid Sovereign Lady the Queen's. Ma- jefty, and the other to him or them that will fue for the fame as aforefaid. V. Provided always, That this Act as touching the making of Wax fhall not extend to any Perfon or Perfons felling the Wax of their own Bees in open Markets in fmall Pieces, (2) nor to any Servant or Ser- vants, or other Perfons mingling or corrupting any Wax by Commandment of their Mafter or other Perfon having Authority over them, fo as they will confefs the fame. An Act for abolifhing of certain deceitful Stuff ufed in dying of Cloth, &V. e,FJ. 4. c. 1. c T T 7HEREAS of late Years there hath been brought into this Realm of England from beyond the Seas i R. 3. c. 8. ' yV a certain Kind of Ware or Stuff" called Logwood, alias Blockwood, wherewith divers Dyers, Clo- ' thiers, Hat-Makers and others, have and do dye daily divers Broad Cloths, Kerfies, Wools, Penneftones,

  • Bays, Cottons, Hofe-Yarn, Hats, Caps, Flannels, Woodmalls,Mockadoes, Rafhes, Buffins, Tuft Mocka-
  • does and other Things : (2) Forafmuch as the Colours made with the faid Stuff called Logwood, alias

' Blockwood, is falfe and deceitful, and the Clothes and other Things therewith dyed, are not only fold ' and uttered, to the great Deceit of the Queen's loving Subjects within this her Realm of England, but ' alfo beyond the Seas, to the great Difcredit and Slander as well of the Merchants as of the Dyers of

II. For Reformation whereof, be it ordained, enacted and eftablifhed by the Queen our Sovereign Lady, and by the Aflent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, in this prefent Parliament af- fembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That all fuch Logwood, alias Blockwood, in whofe Hands foever the fame fhall be found, after the Feaft of Saint Michael the Archangel next enfuing, fhall be for- feited, and openly burned by Authority of the Mayor or other Head Officer of the City or Town Corpo- rate, or of two Juftices of Peace of the County where it fhall be found : (2) And that from and after twenty Days after the End of this SefTion of Parliament no Perfon, of what Degree foever he be, fhall dye, or caufe to be dyed, any Cloth, Wool, or any other of the Premiffes above-mentioned, or any other Thing whatfoever, with any of the faid Ware or Stuff called Logwood, alias Blockwood ; (3) upon Pain that the Dyer of every fuch feveral Thing fo dyed fhall forfeit the Value of the fame Thing fo dyed, the one Moiety to the Ufe of the Queen's Majefty, her Heirs or Succeffors, and the other Moiety to him that will fue for the fame by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information, in any Court of Record, in which Suit no Ef- foin, Protection, Wager ef Law nor Writ of Privilege for the Defendant fhall be admitted or allowed : (4) And the Party offending being thereof convicted, to remain in Prifon without Bail or Mainprize till he have fatisfied the fame Value. ' III. And where Clothes, Kerfies and Hofen, have been dyed with a Colour which is commonly called

  • a galled and mathered Black, or with a Colour commonly called a fhoomake and mathered Black ; which
  • Colours, although they carry a Shew of a good, true and perfect Colour of woaded and mathered Black,
  • and of fuch as do buy the faid Colours, either in Cloth, Kerfie or Hofe, taken fo to be, notwithstanding
  • in Proof and Wearing prove contrary, to the great Deceit of the Queen's Subjects, and Discrediting of the
  • Cloth and other Things fo dyed :' For Reformation whereof, be it enacted, That no Kind of Cloth or
