That from and after the faid four and twentieth Day -vveigh" dfemed of June eighty-four Pounds Weight of foreign Salt fhall be deemed and taken to be a Bufhel of foreign a Buihel of to- Salt, both upon the Importation and Exportation thereof; any thing herein, or in any former Law to the reign Salt, contrary in any wife notwithftanding. And whereas the Importers of foreign Salt do bring the fame in VelTels on the feveral Coafts of ' this Kingdom, and Dominion of V/ales, and lie hovering off the faid Coafts, and will not bring the ' fame in Port, or land the faid Salt, until they can get an Opportunity of running fuch Salt v/ithout En- ' try or Payment of Duties ; and in many Cafes where they do bring the fame into Port, yet continue ' fuch Salt in Port on board their VeiTels, and refufe to enter or land the fam.e, and in the Night-time, or ' Abfence of the Officers from on board fuch Veflels, privately run the faid Salt on^ Shore, without En-

ted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the faid four and twentieth Day of June, where any Ship or Veffel laden with S^t fhall be found' hovering on the Coafts of England or Wales., not direttly proceeding on her Voyage to fome Port, it fhall and may be lawful to and for the Officers of the Cuftoms, or the Officers for the faid Duty on Salt, to go on board fuch Veffels, and compel the fame to come into officer may com- Port, and to continue on board fuch Ships or Veflels until the Salt fhall be unladen, or the faid Ship or pel Siiip laden Veffel fhall depart from the faid Port, on her intended Voyage, to fome other Place ; and if the Perfons with Salt, aod on board fuch Ship or Veffel, or any_ other Ship or Veffel importing Salt, fliall neglett or refufe to enter 'i°""'"S°" '*'•'= or unlade fuch Salt, for the Space of twenty Days after the fame is come into Port, or within that Time in°oPort"&c. to depart and proceed regularly on their Voyage to fome other Place, unlefs permitted by the Chief Offi- and on Refufal cer of the Cuftoms for that Port to make a longer Stay, then and in fuch Cafe, all the Salt on board fuch mayen'er, &c. Ship or Veffel fhall be forfeited, and double the Value thereof, to be recovered of the Mafler of fuch Ship Salt forfeited, or Veffel, or the Perfon commanding the fame in that Voyage. ^'^' VIII. Provided always, and be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the faid four No foreign Salt and twentieth Day of jum no foreign Salt fhall be imported from Parts beyond the Seas, in any Ship or to be imported Veffel of lefs Burthen than twenty Tuns, and in Bulk only (except for the neceffary Provifions of the many Veffel left Ships) upon Pain of forfeiting the faid Salt, and double the Value thereof, to be recovered of the Perfon ^^ce ^t?on""^' importing the farrie. Penalty. IX. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid. That from and after the faid four and twen- 65 Pounds tieth Day of y««^, fixty-five Pounds Weight of Rock Salt fhall be deemed and taken to be a Bufhel of Weight of Rock Rock Salt ; any Thing in the faid former Acts contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notwith- Salt deemed a ftanding. ^""'f X. And v.'hereas by the feveral Afts for laying Duties upon Salt, any Perfon exporting Salt to Parts ' beyond the Seas, is intitled to a Drawback of the whole Duty of the Salt fo exported ; and it is found ' by Experience, that many Exporters of Salt and Rock Salt, after they have obtained the faid Draw- back, or a Debenture for the fame, do privately rejand fuch Salt or Rock Salt in ii«^/(7/?^/or /> /' ale.
