An Aft for amending and making more effectual an Aft made in the firft Year of the Reign of King James the Second, intituled, An additional A£l for the Improvement of Tillage. c tttHEREAS by an Act made in the firft Year of the Reign of his late Majefty Ring James the « J ac ' 2 - c - 3 9- « VV Second, intituled, An additional Ait for the Improvement of Tillage, Provifion was made for exa- • mining and determining the common Market Prices of midling Englijh Corn and Grain, which never- ♦ thelefs hath been found ineffectual ;' Therefore for the better alcertaining the common Market Prices of midling Englijh Corn and Grain, and for preventing the fraudulent Importation of foreign Corn and Grain, be it enacted by the King's moil Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and the Commons, in this prelent Parliament affembled, and by the Au- thority of the fame, That from and after the firft Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty- Afters June two, it fhall and may be lawful to and for all and every the Juftices of Peace for the feveral and Q 7 u ^tJr U Seffions refp'ective Counties within that Part of Great Britain calted England, Wales and the Town of Berwick to charge the"" upon Tweed, wherein foreign Corn or Grain fhall or may be hereafter imported, and they are hereby en- Grand jury, joined and required, at every their Quarter-Seiiions, to give in Charge in open Court to the Grand Jury there affembled, to make Inquiry and Prefentment upon their Oaths of the common Market Prices of J^ no aret0 P ri J- midling Englijb Corn and Grain of the refpedtive Sorts and Quantities mentioned in an Act made in ' Market Prices of the two and twentieth Year of the Reign of his Majefty King Charles the Second, intituled, An Ati Engiim Com. for Improvement of Tillage and Breed uf Cattle, as the fame fhall be commonly bought and fold in every » Car - *■ c - J 3- Tuch County, which Inquiry and Prefentment the faid Grand Jury are hereby impowered and required to in 1 l^g j II. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That fuch Prefentment (hall be made in open b re m n de"i ent '" Court, and ihall be certified by the faid Juftices in Writing to his Majefty's Chief Officer and Collector Court, certified" of the Cuftoms for the Time being, rending in every fuch Port or Haven, where fuch Corn and Grain to Colieaor of ihall be imported, and fhall be hung up in fome publick Place in the Cuftom-houfe belonging to every ^'"^ io ^ ls, a ^ 1 " 1 cl fuch Port or Haven, to be reforted to by all Perfons for their Information. IV. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That nothing in this Act Nottoextendto contained ihall extend or be conftrued to extend to prejudice or affect the Authority given by the faid London > Act made in the firft Year of the Reign of his Majefty King James the Second, to the Mayor, Alder- i Jac 2. c. 19. men and Juftices of the Peace of the City of London; but that the faid Mayor, Aldermen and Juftices of the Peace may continue to exercife the fame at the Times and in the Manner therein mentioned ; any Thing in this Act contained to the contrary notwithftanding. V. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of NoWarrant,&c. ^une one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-two, no Warrant, Sufferance, Coaft Cocquet, Tranfire or [° b « granted toe ett Pafs whatfoever (hall be granted or allowed for tranfporting, conveying or carrying forth to the open foreign^omto Sea in any Ship or Veffel from any Port or Haven within that Part of Great Britain called England, Wales anyotherEngiifh and the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, to any other Port or Haven of the fame, any foreign Corn or ^ aven » after Grain after the Importation thereof; and that no Perfon or Perfons whatfoever, from and after the faid mpor firft Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-two, ihall directly or indirectly tranfport, convey or carry forth to the open Sea, or caufe or procure to be tranfported, conveyed or carried forth to the open Sea out of or from any Port, Haven, Creek or Road, or Member thereof, within that Part of Great Britain called England, Wales and the Town of Berwick upon Tweed, in order to be landed or difcharged in any other Port or Place within the fame, or lade, or caufe or procure to be laden in any Ship or Veffel, in order to be landed or difcharged in any other Port, Haven or Place within the fame, any foreign Corn Foreign Corn fo or Grain, or any foreign Corn or Grain mixed with Englijb Corn or Grain, after the Importation thereof, "^f^i^ under the Penalties and Forfeitures herein after mentioned, that is to fay, That all fuch Corn and Grain ' that ihall be tranfported, conveyed or carried forth into the open Sea, or laden contrary to this Act, ihall be forfeited ; and that every Offender therein fhall forfeit the Sum of twenty Shillings tor every Buihel of and 20 s. per fuch Corn or Grain fo tranfported, conveyed or carried forth into the open Sea, or laden contrary to this Buihel - Act ; and moreover the Ship or Veffel, upon which fuch Corn or Grain fhall be fo tranfported, conveyed Veffel and or carried forth into the open Sea or laden, and all her Guns, Tackle, Apparel and Furniture ihall be Tackle forfeit- forfeited ; the one Moiety of all which Penalties and Forfeitures fhall be to the King's Majefty, his Heirs e ' and Succeffors, and the other Moiety to him or them who will fue for the fame, to be recovered by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record at Wejiminjler, wherein no j^rffo^ment 3 Effoin, Protection or Wager of Law (hall be allowed ; and that the Mafter and Mariners of any fuch on affiftingin Ship or Veffel, wherein any fuch Offence (hall be committed, knowing fuch Offence, and wittingly and fuch Tranipor- willingly aiding and affifting thereunto, and being thereof duly convicted in any fuch Court of Record as J? tlo "";„ Cor „ aforefaid, ihall be imprifoned for the Space of three months without Bail or Mainprize. £"%"!&, ' II Geo, z. c. 22, 24 Geo. 2. c, 56. 26 Geo, 2. c. 15. 30 Geo. 2. c. 1. 31 Geo. 2. c.
