An Aft to explain and amend an Aft palled in the eleventh Year of the Reign of his late Majefty King George the Firft, intituled, An Aft for the better regulating the Manufacture of Cloth in the Weft Riding of the County of York. c ' K7 HERE A S the Ait made in the eleventh Year of his late Majefty King George the Firft, it Geo. i.e. 24. £ W intituled, An A el for the better regulating the Manufacture of Cloth in the Wed Riding of the %R 4- *V" County of York (which, except that Part which reftrains certain Perfons therein defcribed from making Broad Cloth in the faid TVeJl Riding, was, by an Act made in the laft Seflion of Parliament, con- tinued till the firft Day of September in the Year one thoufand feven hundred and forty, and from thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament) has been found highly beneficial to the ' Cloth Trade in the faid Weft Riding : And whereas there are Penalties in the faid Act directed to be ' levied upon the Owners, Occupiers, or Mill-men of the Fulling-mills in the faid Weft Riding, to ' which they may inadvertently become liable, to their great Lois, and the Difcouragement of the ' Manufacture; and feveral Doubts have arifen in Contraction of the faid Act, and the fame Act has ' been found defective for fome of the Purpofes thereof;" Wherefore for explaining and amending the fame, and for making the faid Law more effectual; Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this.
