பழமொழி.
  1. மகா ராஜாவின் கலியாணத்தில் நீராகாரம் நெய் பட்ட பாடு.
    At the marriage feast of the Maha Rajah, even cold rice water is rare as ghee.

  2. மகா லட்சுமி பரதேசம் போனதுபோல.
    As Maha Lakshmi went on a pilgrimage.

  3. மகிமை சுந்தரி கதவை ஒஞ்சரி.
    Illustrious beauty, leave the door ajar.

  4. மகிமைக்கு அஞ்சிய மருமகனே எருமைக் கன்றைக் கொல்லாதே.
    Thou modest son-in-law, do not kill the young buffaloa.
    This was said to a man by his mother-in-law. Wishing to appear to her a small eater he stinted himself at his ordinary meals, and yet appeared to flourish. Casting about for a solution of the mystery her attention was called to the ill condition of a young buffaloa. Suspecting that her son-in-law was the cause of this, she resolved to watch his movements. The following night she saw him emerge from his room and proceed to the buffaloa, whose milk he exhausted, and returned to his own quarters. On the morrow when he took his food she addressed him in the language of the proverb.

  5. மகிமைப்பட்டவனுக்கு மரணம், மாட்டுக்காரப்பையனுக்குச் சரணம்.
    Death to the distinguished, homage to the cowherd.

  6. மகிமையிலே ஒரு பெண் குவளையிலே வாழுகிறாள், அதில் ஒரு பெண் அறுத்துவிட்டு அழுகிறாள்.
    One matron flourishes in the water-lily, and one weeps bereft of her marriage symbol.

  7. மக்கள் களவும் வரகு பதரும் சரி.
    The dishonest tricks of children, and the husks of varagu are alike.

  8. மக்கள் சோறு தின்றால் மகிமை குறையும்.
    To be fed by children is a disgrace to parents.
