Entering into careful reſearches concerning the ſtudy of the hiſtory of theſe errors of men, my attention has been called to the "Examinations," through the kindneſs of Mr. Payne, who has been ſo good as to put into my hands an Index made by him of early printed books on Witchcraft. I offer theſe "Examinations" to the Society for the purpoſe of multiplying them, this copy being the only one in exiſtence. It remains in the Library of Lambeth Palace; and I herewith offer my beſt thanks to the Rev. William Stubbs, Librarian of the ſaid palace, for the readineſs with which he placed this copy in my hands, and kindly aſſiſted me during the time I was occupied in the Library.
