Salam-ul-lah Khan, Nawab Mahammud, Khan Bahadur(1889) Jagirdar; g.s. of Mahammud Rahim Khan who rendered valuable aid to the British in the battle of Assaye, 1803; b. 1859; educ: at the Akola High School and the Fort High School, Bombay; Special Relief Officer in the famine of 1899-90; special Magistrate with first class powers; Nawab, 1891. Salamatrai, Diwan Govinda Ram, Rai Bahadur (1908), Colonization Officer, Hyderabad, Sind; b. 1861; educ: Sikarpur; displayed exceptional ability in times of famine and plague, and rendered valuable service; presented with a watch by the Commissioner of Sind in Open Durbar, 1893; received special promotion and an Afrinama, 1896; received a sword of honour 1900; Certificate of merit, 1908. Address: Hyderabad, Sind, India.

Civil Surgeon and Superintendent of Jail, Shikarpur, 1874; Superintendent, Central Jail, Poona; also in charge of Central Jail, Yerrowda, 1878; retired, 1897.

Salemgarh, Raja of; Narayan Singh Sadeshri Prasad, Rai Bahadur (1898); belongs to Bhuirkar family and is connected with the house of Tamkulu; related to Raja of Hathwa; b. 1862; rendered valuable assistance to the people in the famine of 1896-97; Raja (personal) 1907; the Estate comprises 53 villages in Gorakhpur. Address: Salemgarh, Gorakhpur, U.P., India.

Salempur, Raja of; Khan Bahadur, Shaban Ali Khan; descendant of Hydayat Ali, of Kakori; interested in the improvement of agriculture; undertook experiments in agriculture in his estate; Khan Bahadur. 1888; Raja, 1898; Honorary Magistrate of the first class for the Police Circle of Goshainganj; the estate comprises 24 whole villages and parts of three others in Lucknow, yielding an annual income of Rs. 38,328, besides 6 villages in Bara Banki, with an annual income of Rs. 11,670.
