PAY OF CIVIL EMPLOYEES, MARINE CORPS Pay of civil force : For personal services in the District of Colum- bia, as follows Offices of the Major General Commandant and adjutant inspector, $114,180 ; Office of paymaster, $47,260 ; Office of the quartermaster, $125,020 ; in all, $286,460 : Provided, That the total number of enlisted men on duty at Marine Corps headquarters on May 7, 1930, shall not be increased, and in lieu of enlist ed men whose servi ces at such headqua rters shall be ter minate d for any cause prior to July 1, 1938, their places may be filled by civilians, for the pay of wham, in accordance with the Classification Act of 1923, as amended, either or both the appropriations "Pay, Marine Corps" and "General expenses, Marine Corps" shall be available . GENE RAL EXPE NSES , MA RINE COR PS For every expenditure requisite for, and incident to, the author- ized work of the Marine Corps, other than as appropriated for under the headings of pay and salaries, as follows For provisions, subsistence, board and lodging of enlisted men, recrui ts and recru iting partie s, and applic ants f or enl istmen t, cas h allowance for lodging and subsistence to enlisted men traveling on duty ; ice, ice machines and their maintenance, $2,697,153 ; For clothing for enlisted men, $900,000 ; For fuel, heat, light, and power, including sales to officers, $470,0 00 ; For military supplies and equipment, including their purchase, repair, preservation, and handling ; recreational, school, educational, libr ary, music al, a muse ment, fiel d sp ort a nd gy mnas ium s uppli es, equipment, services, and incidental expenses ; purchase and marking of pri zes fo r exce llence in gu nnery and rif le pra ctice, good- conduc t badges, medals, and buttons awarded to officers and enlisted men by the Government for conspicuous, gallant, and special service ; rental and m ainten ance o f targ et ran ges an d entra nce fe es for compe tition s, $610,0 00 ; For transportation of troops and applicants for enlistment, includ- ing cash in lieu of ferria ge and tr ansfers en route ; toilet kits for issue to recruits upon their first enlistment and other incidental expenses of the recruiting service ; and for transportation for dependents of officers and enlisted men, $300,000 ; For repairs and improvements to barracks , quarters and other public buildings at posts and stations ; for the renting, leasing, and improvement of buildings in the District of Columbia, and at such other places as the public exigencies require, and the erection of temporary buildings upon the approval of the Secretary of the Navy at a total cost of not to exceed $10,000 during the year, $400,000 ; For forage and stabling of public animals and the authorized num- ber of offi cers' horses, $2 0,000 ; For miscellaneous supplies, material, equipment, personal and other services, and for other incidental expenses for the Marine Corps not otherwise provided for ; purchase, repair, and exchange 125151'-37 8 Mileage, etc. 113 Aggregate ; account- ing .
