Has contributed short stories, verse and articles to various magazines; has written California sketches for L. A. Times. For 7 years, dramatic critic on Pasadena Star-News. BATES, Blanche (Mrs. G. Creel), born in Portland, Oregon, August 25, 1873, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Bates. Married to George Creel. Actress. Appeared for the first time, September 17, 1894, in Stockwell's Theatre, San Francisco, in "The Picture.” Played leading parts in various countries. Appeared in Shakespearean roles in A. Daly's Co., in '98.
