Parliament of India

The Parliament of India is the supreme bicameral legislative body of the federal government of the Republic of India. It consists of the office of President of India, with an upper house, the Rajya Sabha (Council of States) and a lower house, the Lok Sabha (House of the People). The two Houses meet in separate chambers in the Sansad Bhawan in New Delhi. The Members of either house are commonly referred to as Member of Parliament or "MP". The MP's of Lok Sabha are elected by direct election and the MP's of Rajya Sabha are elected by the members of the State Legislative Assemblies. The Parliament is composed of 790 MP's.
