Chapter 1

1The word of the Lord which came to Joel the son of Bathuel.	λόγος κυρίου ος εγενήθη προς Ιωήλ τον του Βαθουήλ
2Hear these words, ye elders, and hearken all ye that inhabit the land. Have such things happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers?	ακούσατε ταύτα οι πρεσβύτεροι και ενωτίσασθε πάντες οι κατοικούντες την γην ει γέγονε τοιαύτα εν ταις ημέραις υμών η εν ταις ημέραις των πατέρων υμών
3Tell your children concerning them, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.	υπέρ αυτών τοις τέκνοις υμών διηγήσασθε και τα τέκνα υμών τοις τέκνοις αυτών και τα τέκνα αυτών εις γενεάν ετέραν
4The leavings of the caterpillar has the locust eaten, and the leavings of the locust has the palmerworm eaten, and the leavings of the palmerworm has the cankerworm eaten.	τα κατάλοιπα της κάμπης κατέφαγεν η ακρίς και τα κατάλοιπα της ακρίδος κατέφαγεν ο βρούχος και τα κατάλοιπα του βρούχου κατέφαγεν η ερυσίβη
5Awake, ye drunkards, from your wine, and weep: mourn, all ye that drink wine to drunkenness: for joy and gladness and removed are from your mouth.	εκνήψατε οι μεθύοντες εξ οίνου αυτών κλαύσατε και θρηνήσατε πάντες οι πίνοντες τον οίνον εις μέθην ότι εξήρθη εκ στόματος υμών
6For a strong and innumerable nation is come up against my land, their teeth are lion's teeth, and their back teeth those of a lion's whelp.	ότι έθνος ανέβη επί την γην μου ισχυρόν και αναρίθμητον οι οδόντες αυτού οδόντες λέοντος και αι μύλαι αυτού ως σκύμνου
7He has ruined my vine, and utterly broken my fig-trees: he has utterly searched my vine, and cast it down; he has peeled its branches.	έθετο την άμπελόν μου εις αφανισμόν και τας συκάς μου εις συγκλασμόν ερευνών εξηρεύνησεν αυτήν και ερριψεν ελεύκανε τα κλήματα αυτής
8Lament to me more than a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth.	θρήνησον προς με υπέρ νύμφην περιεζωσμένην σάκκον επί τον άνδρα αυτής τον παρθενικόν
9The meat-offering and drink-offering are removed from the house of the Lord: mourn, ye priests that serve at the altar of the Lord.	εξήρται θυσία και σπονδή εξ οίκου κυρίου πενθείτε οι ιερείς οι λειτουργοί του κυρίου
10For the plains languish: let the land mourn, for the corn languishes; the wine is dried up, the oil becomes scarce;	ότι τεταλαιπώρηκε τα πεδία πενθείτω η γη ότι τεταλαιπώρηκε σίτος εξήρανθη οίνος ωλιγώθη έλαιον
11the husbandmen are consumed: mourn your property on account of the wheat and barley; for the harvest has perished from off the field.	εξηράνθησαν γεωργοί θρηνείτε κτήματα υπέρ πυρού και κριθής ότι απόλωλε τρυγητός εξ αγρού
12The vine is dried up, and the fig-trees are become few; the pomegranate, and palm-tree, and apple, and all trees of the field are dried up: for the sons of men have have abolished joy.	η άμπελος εξηράνθη και αι συκαί ωλιγώθησαν ροά και φοίνιξ και μήλον και πάντα τα ξύλα του αγρού εξηράνθησαν ότι ήσχυναν χαράν οι υιοί των ανθρώπων
13Gird yourselves with sackcloth, and lament, ye priests: mourn, ye that serve at the altar: go in, sleep in sackcloths, ye that minister to God: for the meat-offering and drink-offering are withheld from the house of your God.	περιζώσασθε και κόπτεσθε οι ιερείς θρηνείτε οι λειτουργούντες θυσιαστηρίω εισέλθετε υπνώσατε εν σάκκοις λειτουργούντες θεώ ότι απέσχηκεν εξ οίκου θεού υμών θυσία και σπονδή
14Sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God, and cry earnestly to the Lord,	αγιάσατε νηστείαν κηρύξατε θεραπείαν συναγάγετε πρεσβυτέρους πάντες οι κατοικούντες την γην εις οίκον κυρίου θεού υμών και κεκράξατε προς κύριον εκτενώς
15Alas, Alas, Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is nigh, and it will come as trouble upon trouble.	οίμοι οίμοι οίμοι εις ημέραν ότι εγγύς η ημέρα κυρίου και ως ταλαιπωρία εκ ταλαιπωρίας ήξει
16Your meat has been destroyed before your eyes, joy and gladness from out of the house of your God.	ουχί κατέναντι των οφθαλμών υμών βρώματα εξήρθη εξ οίκου θεού υμών ευφροσύνη και χαρά
17The heifers have started at their mangers, the treasures are abolished, the wine-presses are broken down; for the corn is withered.	εσκίρτησαν δαμάλεις επί ταις φάτναις αυτών ηφανίσθησαν θησαυροί κατεσκάφησαν ληνοί ότι εξηράνθη σίτος
18What shall we store up for ourselves? the herds of cattle have mourned, because they had no pasture; and the flocks of sheep have been utterly destroyed.	τι αποθήσομεν εαυτοίς έκλαυσαν βουκόλια βοών ότι ουχ υπήρχε νομή αυτοίς και τα ποίμνια των προβάτων ηφανίσθησαν
19To thee, O Lord, will I cry: for fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness, and a flame has burnt up all the trees of the field.	προς σε κύριε βοήσομαι ότι πυρ ανήλωσε τα ωραία της ερήμου και φλοξ κατέκαυσε πάντα τα ξύλα του αγρού
20And the cattle of the field have looked up to thee: for the fountains of waters have been dried up, and fire has devoured the fair places of the wilderness.	και τα κτήνη του πεδίου ανέβλεψαν προς σε ότι εξηράνθησαν αφέσεις υδάτων και πυρ κατέφαγε τα ωραία της ερήμου

Chapter 2

1Sound the trumpet in Sion, make a proclamation in my holy mountain, and let all the inhabitants of the land be confounded: for the day of the Lord is near;	σαλπίσατε εν σάλπιγγι εν Σιών κηρύξατε εν όρει αγίω μου και συγχυθήτωσαν πάντες οι κατοικούντες την γην ότι πάρεστιν η ημέρα κυρίου ότι εγγύς
2for a day of darkness and gloominess is near, a day of cloud and mist: a numerous and strong people shall be spread upon the mountains as the morning; there has not been from the beginning one like it, and after it there shall not be again even to the years of many generations.	ημέρα σκότους και γνόφου ημέρα νεφέλης και ομίχλης ως όρθρος χυθήσεται επί τα όρη λαός πολύς και ισχυρός όμοιος αυτώ ου γέγονεν από του αιώνος και μετ΄ αυτόν ουκ προστεθήσεται έως ετών εις γενεάς γενεών
3Before them is a consuming fire, and behind them is a flame kindled: the land before them is as a paradise of delight, and behind them a desolate plain: and there shall none of them escape.	τα έμπροσθεν αυτού πυρ αναλίσκον και οπίσω αυτού αναπτομένη φλοξ ως παράδεισος τρυφής η γη προ προσώπου αυτού και τα οπίσω αυτού πεδίον αφανισμού και ανασωζόμενος ουκ έσται αυτώ
4Their appearance is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they pursue.	ως όρασις ίππων η όψις αυτών και ως ιππείς ούτως καταδιώξονται
5As the sound of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, and as the sound of a flame of fire devouring stubble, and as a numerous and strong people setting themselves in array for battle.	ως φωνή αρμάτων επί τας κορυφάς των ορέων εξαλούνται και ως φωνή φλογός πυρός κατεσθιούσης καλάμην και ως λαός πολύς και ισχυρός παρατασσόμενος εις πόλεμον
6Before them shall the people be crushed: every face shall be as the blackness of a caldron.	από προσώπου αυτού συντριβήσονται λαοί παν πρόσωπον ως πρόσκαυμα χύτρας
7As warriors shall they run, and as men of war shall they mount on the walls; and each shall move in his right path, and they shall not turn aside from their tracks:	ως μαχηταί δραμούνται και ως άνδρες πολεμισταί αναβήσονται επί τα τείχη και έκαστος εν τη οδώ αυτού πορεύσεται και ου εκκλίνωσι τας τρίβους αυτών
8and not one shall stand aloof from his brother: they shall go on weighed down with their arms, and they fall upon their weapons, yet shall they in no wise be destroyed.	και έκαστος από του αδελφού αυτού ουκ αφέξεται καταβαρυνόμενοι εν τοις όπλοις αυτών πορεύσονται και εν τοις βέλεσιν πεσούνται και ου συντελεσθώσι
9They shall seize upon the city, and run upon the walls, and go up upon the houses, and enter in through the windows as thieves.	της πόλεως επιλήψονται και επί των τειχέων δραμούνται επί ταις οικίας αναβήσονται και διά των θυρίδων εισελεύσονται ως κλέπται
10Before them the earth shall be confounded, and the sky shall be shaken: the sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.	προ προσώπου συγχυθήσεται η γη και σεισθήσεται ο ουρανός ο ήλιος και η σελήνη συσκοτάσουσι και τα άστρα δύσουσι φέγγος αυτών
11And the Lord shall utter his voice before his host: for his camp is very great: for the execution of his words is mighty: for the day of the Lord is great, very glorious, and who shall be able to resist it?	και κύριος δώσει φωνήν αυτού προ προσώπου δυνάμεως αυτού ότι πολλή εστι σφόδρα η παρεμβολή αυτού ότι ισχυρά έργα λόγων αυτού διότι μεγάλη η ημέρα κυρίου επιφανής σφόδρα και τις έσται ικανός αυτή
12Now therefore, saith the Lord your God, turn to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with lamentation:	και νυν λέγει κύριος επιστράφητε προς με εξ όλης της καρδίας υμών εν νηστεία και κλαυθμώ και κοπετώ
13and rend your hearts, and not your garments, and turn to the Lord your God: for he is merciful and compassionate, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy, and repents of evils.	και διαρρήξατε τας καρδίας υμών και μη τα ιμάτια υμών και επιστρέψατε προς κύριον τον θεόν ότι ελεήμων και οικτίρμων εστί μακρόθυμος και πολυέλεος και μετανοών επί ταις κακίας
14Who knows if he will return, and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, even a meat-offering and a drink-offering to the Lord your God?	τις οίδεν ει επιστρέψει και μετανοήσει και υπολείψεται οπίσω αυτού ευλογίαν και θυσίαν και σπονδήν κυρίω τω θεώ ημών
15Sound the trumpet in Sion, sanctify a fast, proclaim a solemn service:	σαλπίσατε σάλπιγγι εν Σιών αγιάσατε νηστείαν κηρύξατε θεραπείαν
16gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the infants at the breast: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.	συναγάγετε λαόν αγιάσατε εκκλησίαν εκλέξασθε πρεσβυτέρους συναγάγετε νήπια θηλάζοντα μαστούς εξελθέτω νυμφίος εκ του κοιτώνος αυτού και νύμφη εκ του παστού αυτής
17Between the porch and the altar let the priests that minister to the Lord weep, and say, Spare thy people, O Lord, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them, lest they should say among the heathen, Where is their God?	αναμέσον της κρηπίδος και του θυσιαστηρίου κλαύσονται οι ιερείς οι λειτουργούντες τω κυρίω και ερούσι φείσαι κύριε του λαού σου και μη δως την κληρονομίαν σου εις όνειδος του κατάρξαι αυτών έθνη όπως μη είπωσιν εν τοις έθνεσι που εστιν ο θεός αυτών
18But the Lord was jealous of his land, and spared his people.	και εζήλωσε κύριος την γην αυτού και εφείσατο του λαού αυτού
19And the Lord answered and said to his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied with them: and I will no longer make you a reproach among the Gentiles.	και απεκρίθη κύριος και είπε τω λαώ αυτού ιδού εγώ εξαποστέλω υμίν τον σίτον και τον οίνον και το έλαιον και εμπλησθήσεσθε αυτών και ου δώσω υμάς ουκέτι εις ονειδισμόν εν τοις έθνεσι
20And I will chase away from you the northern adversary, and will drive him away into a dry land, and I will sink his face in the former sea, and his back parts in the latter sea, and his ill savour shall come up, and his stink come up, because he has wrought great things.	και τον από βορρά εκδιώξω αφ΄ υμών και εξώσω αυτόν εις γην άνυδρον και αφανιώ το πρόσωπον αυτού εις την θάλασσαν την πρώτην και τα οπίσω αυτού εις την θάλασσαν την εσχάτην και αναβήσεται η σαπρία αυτού και αναβήσεται ο βρόμος αυτού ότι εμεγάλυνε τα έργα αυτού
21Be of good courage, O land; rejoice and be glad: for the Lord has done great things.	θάρσει γη χαίρε και ευφραίνου ότι εμεγάλυνε κύριος του ποιήσαι
22Be of good courage, ye beasts of the plain, for the plains of the wilderness have budded, for the trees have borne their fruit, the fig tree and the vine have yielded their strength.	θαρσείτε κτήνη του πεδίου ότι βεβλάστηκε τα πεδία της ερήμου ότι ξύλον ήνεγκε καρπόν αυτού συκή και άμπελος έδωκαν ισχύν αυτών
23Rejoice then and be glad, ye children of Sion, in the Lord your God: for he has given you food fully, and he will rain on you the early and the latter rain, as before.	και τα τέκνα Σιών χαίρετε και ευφραίνεσθε επί κυρίω θεώ υμών διότι έδωκεν υμίν τα βρώματα εις δικαιοσύνην και βρέξει υμίν υετόν πρώϊμον και όψιμον καθώς έμπροσθεν
24And the floors shall be filled with corn, and the presses shall overflow with wine and oil.	και πλησθήσονται αι άλωνες σίτου και υπερεκχυθήσονται αι ληνοί οίνου και ελαίου
25And I will recompense you for the years which the locust, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, and the cankerworm have eaten, even my great army, which I sent against you.	και ανταποδώσω υμίν αντί των ετών ων κατέφαγεν η ερυσίβη και ο βρούχος και ακρίς και η κάμπη η δύναμίς μου η μεγάλη ην εξαπέστειλα εις υμάς
26And ye shall eat abundantly, and be satisfied, and shall praise the name of the Lord your God for the things which he has wrought wonderfully with you: and my people shall not be ashamed for ever.	και φάγεσθε βρώσει και εμπλησθήσεσθε και αινέσετε το όνομα κυρίου του θεού υμών ος εποίησε μεθ΄ υμών εις θαυμάσια και ου καταισχυνθή ο λαός μου εις τον αιώνα
27And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and that there is none else beside me; and my people shall no more be ashamed for ever.	και επιγνώσεσθε ότι εν μέσω του Ισραήλ εγώ ειμί και εγώ κύριος ο θεός υμών και ουκ έστιν έτι πλην εμού και ου καταισχυνθώσιν έτι ο λαός μου εις τον αιώνα
28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.	και έσται μετά ταύτα εκχεώ από του πνεύματός μου επί πάσαν σάρκα και προφητεύσουσιν υιοί υμών και αι θυγατέρες υμών και οι πρεσβύτεροι υμών ενύπνια ενυπνιασθήσονται και οι νεανίσκοι υμών οράσεις όψονται
29And on my servants and on my handmaids in those days will I pour out of my Spirit.	και γε επί τους δούλους και επί τας δούλας εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις εκχεώ από του πνεύματός μου
30And I will shew wonders in heaven, and upon the earth, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke.	και δώσω τέρατα εν τω ουρανώ και επί της γης αίμα και πυρ και ατμίδα καπνού
31The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and glorious day of the Lord come.	ο ήλιος μεταστραφήσεται εις σκότος και η σελήνη εις αίμα πριν ελθείν την ημέραν κυρίου την μεγάλην και επιφανή
32And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved: for in mount Sion and in Jerusalem shall the saved one be as the Lord has said, and they that have glad tidings preached to them, whom the Lord has called.	και έσται πας ος αν επικαλέσηται το όνομα κυρίου σωθήσεται ότι εν τω όρει Σιών και εν Ιερουσαλήμ έσται ανασωζόμενος καθότι είπε ο κύριος και ευαγγελιζόμενος ους ο κύριος προσκέκληται

Chapter 3

1For, behold, in those days and at that time, when I shall have turned the captivity of Juda and Jerusalem,	ότι ιδού εγώ εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις και εν τω καιρώ εκείνω όταν επιστρέψω την αιχμαλωσίαν Ιούδα και Ιερουσαλήμ
2I will also gather all the Gentiles, and bring them down to the valley of Josaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and my heritage Israel, who have been dispersed among the Gentiles; and these Gentiles have divided my land,	συνάξω πάντα τα έθνη και κατάξω αυτά εις την κοιλάδα Ιωσαφάτ και διακριθήσομαι προς αυτούς εκεί υπέρ του λαού μου και της κληρονομίας μου Ισραήλ ους διέσπειρα εν τοις έθνεσι και την γην μου κατεδείλαντο
3and cast lots over my people, and have given their boys to harlots, and sold their girls for wine, and have drunk.	και επί τον λαόν μου έβαλον κλήρους και έδωκαν τα παιδάρια πόρναις και τα κοράσια επώλουν αντί του οίνου και έπινον
4And what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Sidon, and all Galilee of the Gentiles? do ye render me a recompense? or do ye bear malice against me? quickly and speedily will I return your recompense on your own heads:	και τι υμείς εμοί Τύρος και Σιδών και πάσα Γαλιλαία αλλοφύλων μη ανταπόδομα υμείς ανταποδίδοτέ μοι η μνησικακείτε υμείς εμοί οξέως και ταχέως ανταποδώσω το ανταπόδομα υμών εις κεφαλάς υμών
5because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and ye have brought my choice ornaments into your temples;	ανθ΄ το αργύριόν μου και το χρυσίον μου ελάβετε και τα επίλεκτά μου τα καλά εισηνέγκατε εις τους ναούς υμών
6and ye have sold the children of Juda and the children of Jerusalem to the children of the Greeks, that ye might expel them from their coasts.	και τους υιούς Ιούδα και τους υιούς Ιερουσαλήμ απέδοσθε τοις υιοίς των Ελλήνων όπως εξώσητε αυτούς εκ των ορίων
7Therefore, behold, I will raise them up out of the place whither ye have sold them, and I will return your recompense on your own heads.	και ιδού εγώ εξεγείρω αυτούς εκ του τόπου ου απέδοσθε αυτούς εκεί και ανταποδώσω ανταπόδομα υμών εις κεφαλάς υμών
8And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Juda, and they shall sell them into captivity to a far distant nation: for the Lord has spoken it.	και αποδώσομαι τους υιούς υμών και τας θυγατέρας υμών εις χείρας υιών Ιούδα και αποδώσονται αυτούς εις αιχμαλωσίαν εις έθνος μακράν απέχον ότι ο κύριος ελάλησε
9Proclaim these things among the Gentiles; declare war, arouse the warriors, draw near and go up, all ye men of war.	κηρύξατε ταύτα εν τοις έθνεσιν αγιάσατε πόλεμον εξεγείρατε τους μαχητάς προσαγάγετε και αναβαίνετε πάντες άνδρες πολεμισταί
10Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your sickles into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.	συγκόψατε τα άροτρα υμών εις ρομφαίας και τα δρέπανα υμών εις σειρομάστας ο αδύνατος λεγέτω ότι ισχύω εγω
11Gather yourselves together, and go in, all ye nations round about, and gather yourselves there; let the timid become a warrior.	συναθροίζεσθε και εισπορεύεσθε πάντα τα έθνη κυκλόθεν και συνάχθητε εκεί ο πραϋς έστω μαχητής
12Let them be aroused, let all the nations go up to the valley of Josaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the Gentiles round about.	εξεγειρέσθωσαν και αναβαινέτωσαν πάντα τα έθνη εις την κοιλάδα Ιωσαφάτ διότι εκεί καθιώ του διακρίναι πάντα τα έθνη κυκλόθεν
13Bring forth the sickles, for the vintage is come: go in, tread the grapes, for the press is full: cause the vats to overflow; for their wickedness is multiplied.	εξαποστείλατε δρέπανα ότι παρέστηκεν ο τρυγητός εισπορεύεσθε πατείτε διότι πλήρης η ληνός υπερεκχείται τα υπολήνια ότι επληθύνθη τα κακά αυτών
14Noises have resounded in the valley of judgment: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of judgment.	ήχοι εξήχησαν εν τη κοιλάδι της δίκης ότι εγγύς ημέρα κυρίου εν τη κοιλάδι της δίκης
15The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their light.	ο ήλιος και η σελήνη συσκοτάσουσι και οι αστέρες δύσουσι το φέγγος αυτών
16And the Lord shall cry out of Sion, and shall utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heaven and the earth shall be shaken, but the Lord shall spare his people, and shall strengthen the children of Israel.	ο δε κύριος εκ Σιών ανακράξεται και εξ Ιερουσαλήμ δώσει φωνήν αυτού και σεισθήσεται ο ουρανός και η γη ο δε κύριος φείσεται του λαού αυτού και ενισχύσει τους υιούς Ισραήλ
17And ye shall know that I am the Lord your God, who dwell in Sion my holy mountain: and Jerusalem shall be holy, and strangers shall not pass through her anymore.	και γνώσεσθε ότι εγώ κύριος ο θεός υμών κατασκηνών εν Σιών όρει αγίω μου και έσται Ιερουσαλήμ αγία και αλλογενείς ου διελεύσονται δι΄ αυτής ουκέτι
18And it shall come to pass in that day that the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the fountains of Juda shall flow with water, and a fountain shall go forth of the house of the Lord, and water the valley of flags.	και έσται εν τη ημέρα εκείνη αποσταλάξει τα όρη γλυκασμόν και οι βουνοί ρυήσονται γάλα και πάσαι αι αφέσεις Ιούδα ρυήσονται ύδατα και πηγή εξ οίκου κυρίου εξελεύσεται και ποτιεί τον χειμάρρουν των σχοίνων
19Egypt shall be a desolation, and Idumea shall be a desolate plain, because of the wrongs of the children of Juda, because they have shed righteous blood in their land.	Αίγυπτος εις αφανισμόν έσται και η Ιδουμαία εις πεδίον αφανισμού εξ αδικιών υιών Ιούδα ανθ΄ εξέχεαν αίμα δίκαιον εν τη γη αυτών
20But Judea shall be inhabited for ever, and Jerusalem to all generations.	η δε Ιουδαία εις τον αιώνα κατοικηθήσεται και Ιερουσαλήμ εις γενεάς γενεών
21And I will make inquisition for their blood, and will by no means leave it unavenged: and the Lord shall dwell in Sion.	και εκζητήσω το αίμα αυτών και ου αθωώσω και κύριος κατασκηνώσει εν Σιών
