Chapter 1

1Now in the first year of Cyrus king of the Persians, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremias might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of the Persians, and he issued a proclamation through all his kingdom, and that in writing, saying,	και εν τω έτει πρώτω Κύρου βασιλέως Περσών του τελεσθήναι λόγον κυρίου από στόματος Ιερεμίου εξήγειρε κύριος το πνεύμα Κύρου βασιλέως Περσών και παρήγγειλε φωνήν εν πάση βασιλεία αυτού και γε εν γραπτώ λέγων
2Thus said Cyrus king of the Persians, The Lord God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth, and he has given me a charge to build him a house in Jerusalem that is in Judea.	ούτως είπε Κύρος ο βασιλεύς Περσών πάσας τας βασιλείας της γης έδωκέ μοι κύριος ο θεός του ουρανού και αυτός επεσκέψατο επ΄ εμέ του οικοδομήσαι αυτώ οίκον εν Ιερουσαλήμ τη εν τη Ιουδαία
3Who is there among you of all his people? for his God shall be with him, and he shall go up to Jerusalem that is in Judea, and let him build the house of the God of Israel: he is the God that is in Jerusalem.	τις εν υμίν από παντός του λαού αυτού και έσται ο θεός αυτού μετ΄ αυτού και αναβήτω εις Ιερουσαλήμ την εν τη Ιουδαία και οικοδομησάτω τον οίκον θεού Ισραήλ αυτός ο θεός ο εν Ιερουσαλήμ
4And let every Jew that is left go from every place where he sojourns, and the men of his place shall help him with silver, and gold, and goods, and cattle, together with the voluntary offering for the house of God that is in Jerusalem.	και πας ο καταλιπόμενος από πάντων των τόπων ου αυτός παροικεί εκεί λήψονται αυτόυ άνδρες του τόπου αυτού εν αργυρίω και χρυσίω και εν αποσκευή και κτήνεσι μετά του εκουσίου εις οίκον του θεού του εν Ιερουσαλήμ
5Then the chiefs of the families of Juda and Benjamin arose, and the priests, and the Levites, all whose spirit the Lord stirred up to go up to build the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem.	και ανέστησαν άρχοντες των πατριών των Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν και οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται πάντες ων εξήγειρεν το πνεύμα αυτών του αναβήναι οικοδομήσαι τον οίκον κυρίου τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ
6And all that were round about strengthened their hands with vessels of silver, with gold, with goods, and with cattle, and with presents, besides the voluntary offerings.	και πάντες οι κυκλόθεν αυτών ενίσχυσαν εν χερσίν αυτών εν σκεύεσιν αργυρίου εν χρυσώ και εν αποσκευή και εν κτήνεσι και εν ξενίοις πάρεξ των εν εκουσίοις
7And king Cyrus brought out the vessels of the house of the Lord, which Nabuchodonosor had brought from Jerusalem, and put in the house of his god.	και ο βασιλεύς Κύρος εξήνεγκε τα σκεύη οίκου κυρίου α έλαβεν Ναβουχοδονόσορ από Ιερουσαλήμ και έδωκεν αυτά εν οίκω θεού αυτού
8And Cyrus king of the Persians brought them out by the hand of Mithradates the treasurer, and he numbered them to Sasabasar, the chief man of Juda.	και εξήνεγκεν αυτά Κύρος ο βασιλεύς Περσών επί χείρα Μιθριδάτου γασβαρήνου και ηρίθμησεν αυτά τω Σασαβασάρ τω άρχοντι του Ιούδα
9And this is their number: thirty gold basons, and a thousand silver basons, nine and twenty changes, thirty golden goblets,	και ούτος ο αριθμός αυτών ψυκτήρες χρυσοί τριάκοντα και ψυκτήρες αργυροί χίλιοι παρηλλαγμένα εννέα και είκοσι κεφούροι χρυσοί τριάκοντα
10and four hundred and ten double silver vessels, and a thousand other vessels.	και αργυροί διπλαί τετρακόσιαι και δέκα και σκεύη ετέρα χίλια
11All the gold and silver vessels were five thousand four hundred, even all that went up with Sasabasar from the place of transportation, from Babylon to Jerusalem.	πάντα τα σκεύη του χρυσίου και του αργυρίου πεντακισχίλια τετρακόσια τα πάντα ανήγαγε Σασαβασάρ μετά αναβάσεως της αποικίας εκ Βαβυλώνος εις Ιερουσαλήμ

Chapter 2

1And these are the people of the land that went up, of the number of prisoners who were removed, whom Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away to Babylon, and they returned to Juda and Jerusalem, every man to his city;	και ούτοι οι υιοί της χώρας οι αναβαίνοντες από της αιχμαλωσίας της αποικίας ης απώκισε Ναβουχοδονόσορ ο βασιλεύς Βαβυλώνος εις Βαβυλώνα και επέστρεψαν εις Ιερουσαλήμ και Ιούδαν ανήρ εις την πόλιν αυτού
2who came with Zorobabel: Jesus, Neemias, Saraias, Reelias, Mardochaeus, Balasan, Masphar, Baguai, Reum, Baana. The number of the people of Israel:	οι ήλθον μετά Ζοροβαβέλ Ιησούς Νεεμίας Σαραϊας Ρεελίας Μαρδοχαίος Βαλασάν Μάσφαρ Βαγουέ Ρεούμ Βαανά αριθμός ανδρών λαού Ισραήλ
3the children of Phares, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two.	υιοί Φόρος δισχίλιοι εκατόν εβδομηκονταδύο

44the sons of Cades, the children of Siaa, the children of Phadon,	υιοί Κορές υιοί Σιαά υιοί Φαδών

59And these are they that went up from Thelmelech, Thelaresa, Cherub, Hedan, Emmer: and they were not able to tell the house of their fathers, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:	και ούτοι οι αναβάντες από Θελμελέχ Θελαρησά Χερούβ Ηδάν Εμμήρ και ουκ ηδυνήθησαν του αναγγείλαι οίκον πατριάς αυτών και σπέρμα αυτών ει εξ Ισραήλ εισιν
60the children of Dalaea, the children of Bua, the children of Tobias, the children of Necoda, six hundred and fifty-two.	υιοί Δαλαϊα υιοί Τωβίου υιόν Νεκωδά εξακόσιοι πεντηκονταδύο
61And of the children of the priests, the children of Labeia, the children of Akkus, the children of Berzellai, who took a wife of the daughter of Berzellai the Galaadite, and was called by their name.	και από των υιών των ιερέων υιοί Οβαϊα υιοί Ακκούς υιοί Βερζελλαϊ ος έλαβεν από των θυγατέρων Βερζελλαϊ του Γαλααδίτου γυναίκα και εκλήθη επί τω ονόματι αυτών
62These sought their genealogy as though they had been reckoned, but they were not found; and they were removed, as polluted, from the priesthood.	ούτοι ων εζήτησαν την γραφήν αυτών οι γενεαλογούντες και ουχ ευρέθησαν και εξώσθησαν από της ιερατείας
63And the Athersastha told them that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should arise with Lights and Perfections.	και είπεν Αθερσασθά αυτοίς του μη φαγείν από του αγίου των αγίων έως αναστή ιερεύς τοις φωτίζουσι και τοις τελείοις
64And all the congregation together were about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty;	πάσα δε η εκκλησία ομού ωσεί τέσσαρες μυριάδες δισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι εξήκοντα
65besides their men-servants and maid-servants, and these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty-seven: and among these were two hundred singing men and singing women.	χωρίς δούλων αυτών και παιδισκών αυτών ούτοι επτακισχίλιοι τριακόσιοι τριακονταεπτά και αυτοίς άδοντες και άδουσαι διακόσιοι
66Their horses were seven hundred and thirty-six, their mules, two hundred and forty-five.	ίπποι αυτών επτακόσιοι τριακονταέξ ημίονοι αυτών διακόσιοι τεσσαρακονταπέντε
67Their camels, four hundred and thirty-five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.	κάμηλοι αυτών τετρακόσιοι τριακονταπέντε όνοι αυτών εξακισχίλιοι επτακόσιοι είκοσι
68And some of the chiefs of families, when they went into the house of the Lord that was in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God, to establish it on its prepared place.	και από των αρχόντων των πατριών εν τω εισελθείν αυτούς εις τον οίκον κυρίου τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ ηκουσιάσαντο εις οίκον του θεού του στήσαι αυτόν επί την ετοιμασίαν αυτού
69According to their power they gave into the treasury of the work pure gold sixty-one thousand pieces, and five thousand pounds of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.	ως η δύναμις αυτών έδωκαν εις θησαυρόν του έργου χρυσίου δραχμών εξ μυριάδες και χιλίας και αργυρίου μνας πεντακισχιλίας και χιτώνας των ιερέων εκατόν
70So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nathinim, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.	και εκάθισαν οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και οι από του λαού και οι άδοντες και οι πυλωροί και οι Ναθανίμ εν ταις πόλεσιν αυτών και πας Ισραήλ εν πόλεσιν αυτών

Chapter 3

1And the seventh month came on, and the children of Israel were in their cities, and the people assembled as one man at Jerusalem.	και έφθασεν ο μην ο έβδομος και οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν πόλεσιν αυτών και συνήχθη ο λαός ως ανήρ εις εις Ιερουσαλήμ
2Then stood up Jesus the son of Josedec, and his brethren the priests, and Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and his brethren, and they built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer upon it whole-burnt-offerings, according to the things that were written in the law of Moses the man of God.	και ανέστη Ιησούς ο του Ιωσεδέκ και οι αδελφοί αυτού οι ιερείς και Ζοροβαβέλ ο του Σαλαθιήλ και οι αδελφοί αυτού και ωκοδόμησαν το θυσιαστήριον του θεού Ισραήλ του ανενέγκαι επ΄ αυτό ολοκαυτώσεις καθώς γέγραπται εν νόμω Μωυσή ανθρώπου του θεού
3And they set up the altar on its place, for there was a terror upon them because of the people of the lands: and the whole-burnt-offerings was offered up upon it to the Lord morning and evening.	και ητοίμασαν το θυσιαστήριον επί την ετοιμασίαν αυτού ότι εν καταπλήξει επ΄ αυτούς από των λαών των γαιών και ανεβίβασαν επ΄ αυτό ολοκαυτώσεις τω κυρίω τοπρωϊ και εις εσπέραν
4And they kept the feast of tabernacles, according to that which was written, and offered whole-burnt-offerings daily in number according to the ordinance, the exact daily rate.	και εποίησαν την εορτήν των σκηνών κατά το γεγραμμένον και ολοκαυτώσεις ημέραν εν ημέρα εν αριθμώ ως η κρίσις λόγον ημέρας εν ημέρα αυτού
5And after this the perpetual whole-burnt-offering, and offering for the season of new moon, and for all the hallowed feasts to the Lord, and for every one that offered a free-will-offering to the Lord.	και μετά τούτο την ολοκαύτωσιν του ενδελεχισμόυ και εις τας νουμηνίας και εις πάσας εορτάς τω κυρίω τας ηγιασμένας και παντί εκουσιαζομένω εκούσιον τω κυρίω
6On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer whole-burnt-offerings to the Lord: but the foundation of the house of the Lord was not laid.	εν ημέρα μία του μηνός του εβδόμου ήρξαντο αναφέρειν ολοκαυτώσεις τω κυρίω και ο οίκος του κυρίου ουκ εθεμελιώθη
7And they gave money to the stone-hewers and carpenters, and meat and drink, and oil, to the Sidonians, and Tyrians, to bring cedar trees from Libanus to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant of Cyrus king of the Persians to them.	και έδωκαν αργύριον τοις λατόμοις και τοις τέκτοσι και βρώσιν και πόσιν και έλαιον τοις Σιδωνίοις και τοις Τυρίοις του εξενέγκαι ξύλα κέδρινα από του Λιβάνου προς θάλασσαν Ιόππης διά γνώμης Κύρου βασιλέως Περσών επ΄ αυτούς
8And in the second year of their coming to the house of God in Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec, and the rest of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all who came from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, over the workmen in the house of the Lord.	και εν τω έτει τω δευτέρω του ελθείν αυτούς εις οίκον κυρίου του θεού τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ εν μηνί τω δευτέρω ήρξατο Ζοροβαβέλ ο του Σαλαθιήλ και Ιησούς ο του Ιωσεδέκ και οι κατάλοιποι των αδελφών αυτών οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και πάντες οι ερχόμενοι από της αιχμαλωσίας εις Ιερουσαλήμ και έστησαν τους Λευίτας από εικοσαέτους και επάνω του νικοποιείν επί τους ποιούντας τα έργα εν οίκω κυρίου
9And Jesus and his sons and his brethren stood, Cadmiel and his sons the sons of Juda, over them that wrought the works in the house of God: the sons of Enadad, their sons and their brethren the Levites.	και έστη Ιησούς και οι υιοί αυτού και οι αδελφοί αυτού Καδμιήλ και οι υιοί αυτού υιοί Ιούδα επί τους ποιούντας τα έργα εν οίκω του θεού υιοί Ηναδάδ υιοί αυτών και οι αδελφοί αυτών οι Λευίται
10And they laid a foundation for building the house of the Lord: and the priests in their robes stood with trumpets and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the order of David king of Israel.	και εθεμελίωσαν οι οικοδομούντες του οικοδομήσαι τον οίκον κυρίου και έστησαν οι ιερείς εστολισμένοι εν σάλπιγξι και οι Λευίται υιοί Ασάφ εν κυμβάλοις του αινείν τον κύριον επί χείρας Δαυίδ βασιλέως Ισραήλ
11And they answered each other with praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, saying, For it is good, for his mercy to Israel endures for ever. And all the people shouted with a loud voice to praise the Lord at the laying the foundation of the house of the Lord.	και απεκρίθησαν εν αίνω και ανθομολογήσει τω κυρίω ότι αγαθόν ότι εις τον αιώνα το έλεος αυτού επί τον Ισραήλ και πας ο λαός ηλάλαξαν φωνή μεγάλη εν τω αινείν τω κυρίω επί τη θεμελιώσει του οίκου κυρίου
12But many of the priests and the Levites, and the elder men, heads of families, who had seen the former house on its foundation, and who saw this house with their eyes, wept with a loud voice: but the multitude shouted with joy to raise a song.	και πολλοί από των ιερέων και των Λευιτών και άρχοντες των πατριών οι πρεσβύτεροι οι είδον τον οίκον τον πρώτον εν θεμελιώσει αυτού και τούτον τον οίκον εν οφθαλμοίς αυτών έκλαιον φωνή μεγάλη και πολλοι εν αλαλαγμώ μετ΄ ευφροσύνης του υψώσαι φωνήν
13And the people did not distinguish the voice of the glad shout from the voice of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud voice, and the voice was heard even from afar off.	και ουκ ην ο λαός επιγινώσκων την φωνήν της σημασίας της ευφροσύνης από της φωνής του κλαυθμού του λαού ότι ο λαός εκραύγασε φωνή μεγάλη και η φωνή ηκούετο έως από μακρόθεν

Chapter 4

1And they that afflicted Juda and Benjamin heard, that the children of the captivity were building a house to the Lord God of Israel.	και ήκουσαν οι θλίβοντες Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν ότι οι υιοί της αποικίας οικοδομούσιν οίκον τω κυρίω τω θεώ Ισραήλ
2And they drew near to Zorobabel, and to the heads of families, and said to them, We will build with you; for as ye do, we seek to serve our God, and we do sacrifice to him from the days of Asaradan king of Assur, who brought us hither.	και ήγγισαν προς Ζοροβαβέλ και προς τους άρχοντας των πατριών και είπον αυτοίς οικοδομήσωμεν μεθ΄ υμών ότι ως υμείς εκζητούμεν τω θεώ υμών και αυτώ ημείς θυσιάζομεν από ημερών Ασαραδάν βασιλέως Ασσούρ του ενέγκαντος ημάς ώδε
3then Zorobabel, and Jesus and the rest of the heads of the families of Israel said to them, It is not for us and you to build a house to our God, for we ourselves will build together to the Lord our God, as Cyrus the king of the Persians commanded us.	και είπε προς αυτούς Ζοροβαβέλ και Ιησούς και οι κατάλοιποι των αρχόντων των πατριών του Ισραήλ ουχ ημίν και υμίν του οικοδομήσαι οίκον τω θεώ ημών ότι ημείς αυτοί επί το αυτό οικοδομήσομεν τω κυρίω θεώ Ισραήλ ως ενετείλατο ημίν Κύρος ο βασιλεύς Περσών
4And the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Juda, and hindered them in building,	και ην ο λαός της γης εκλύων τας χείρας του λαού Ιούδα και ενεπόδιζον αυτούς του οικοδομείν
5and continued hiring persons against them, plotting to frustrate their counsel, all the days of Cyrus king of the Persians, and until the reign of Darius king of the Persians.	και μισθούμενοι επ΄ αυτούς συμβούλους του διασκεδάσαι την βουλήν αυτών πάσας τας ημέρας Κύρου βασιλέως Περσών και έως βασιλείας Δαρείου του βασιλέως Περσών
6And in the reign of Assuerus, even in the beginning of his reign, they wrote a letter against the inhabitants of Juda and Jerusalem.	και εν τη βασιλεία Ασουήρου και εν αρχή βασιλείας αυτού έγραψεν επιστολήν επί οικούντας Ιούδαν και Ιερουσαλήμ
7And in the days of Arthasastha, Tabeel wrote peaceably to Mithradates and to the rest of his fellow-servants: the tribute-gatherer wrote to Arthasastha king of the Persians a writing in the Syrian tongue, and the same interpreted.	και εν ταις ημέραις Αρθασασθά έγραψεν εν ειρήνη Μιθραδάτης και Ταβεήλ συν τοις λοιποίς συνδούλοις αυτού προς Αρθασασθά βασιλέα Περσών έγραψεν ο φορολόγος την γραφήν Συριστί και ηρμηνευομένην
8Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe wrote an epistle against Jerusalem to King Arthasastha, saying,	Ρεούμ βααλτάμ και Σαμψά ο γραμματεύς έγραψαν επιστολήν μίαν κατά Ιερουσαλήμ τω Αρθασασθά βασιλεί
9Thus has judged Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and the rest of our fellow-servants, the Dinaeans, the Apharsathachaeans, the Tarphalaeans, the Apharsaeans, the Archyaeans, the Babylonians, the Susanachaeans, Davaeans,	τάδε έκρινε Ρεούμ βααλτάμ και Σαμψά ο γραμματεύς και οι κατάλοιποι σύνδουλοι ημών Δεινάιοι Αρφασαθαχαίοι Ταρφαλλαίοι Αφαρσαίοι Αρχυαίοι Βαβυλώνιοι Σουσαναχαίοι Δαυαίοι Ελαμίται
10and the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Assenaphar removed, and settled them in the cities of Somoron, and the rest of them beyond the river.	και οι κατάλοιποι των εθνών ων απώκισεν Ασσεναφάρ ο μέγας και ο τίμιος και κατώκισεν αυτούς εν πόλεσι της Σαμαρείας και το κατάλοιπον πέραν του ποταμού
11This is the purport of the letter, which they sent to him: Thy servants the men beyond the river to king Arthasastha.	αυτή η διαταγή της επιστολής ης απέστειλαν προς αυτόν προς Αρθασασθά βασιλέα οι παίδές σου άνδρες πέραν του ποταμού
12Be it known to the king, that the Jews who came up from thee to us have come to Jerusalem the rebellious and wicked city, which they are building, and its walls are set in order, and they have established the foundations of it.	και νυν γνωστόν έστω τω βασιλεί ότι οι Ιουδαίοι αναβάντες από σου προς ημάς ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ την πόλιν αποστάτιν και πονηράν ην οικοδομούσι και τα τείχη αυτής κατηρτισμένα εισί και θεμελίους αυτής ανύψωσαν
13Now then be it known to the king, that if that city be built up, and its walls completed, thou shalt have no tribute, neither will they pay anything, and this injures kings.	νυν ουν γνωστόν έστω τω βασιλεί ότι εάν η πόλις εκείνη ανοικοδομηθή και τα τείχη αυτής καταρτισθώσι φόρων πράξιν και συντέλεσμα ου δώσουσι και τούτο βασιλείς κακοποιεί
14And it is not lawful for us to see the dishonour of the king: therefore have we sent and made known the matter to the king;	και νυν ουκ καθώς άλας του ναού ηλισάμεθα και ασχημοσύνην βασιλέως ουκ έξεστιν ημίν ιδείν διά τούτο επέμψαμεν και εγνωρίσαμεν τω βασιλεί
15That examination may be made in thy fathers' book of record; and thou shalt find, and thou shalt know that city is rebellious, and does harm to kings and countries, and there are in the midst of it from very old time refuges for runaway slaves: therefore this city has been made desolate.	ίνα επισκέψη εν βίβλω υπομνηματισμάτων των πατέρων σου και ευρήσεις εν τω βίβλω των μνημοσύνων και γνώση ότι η πόλις εκείνη πόλις αποστάτις και κακοποιούσα βασιλείς και χώρας και φυγαδείαι δούλων γίνονται εν μέσω αυτής από χρόνων αιώνος διά τούτο η πόλις αύτη ηρήμωται
16We therefore declare to the king, that, if that city be built, and its walls be set up, thou shalt not have peace.	γνωρίζομεν ουν ημείς τω βασιλεί ότι εάν η πόλις εκείνη οικοδομηθή και τα τείχη αυτής καταρτισθή προς ταύτα μέρος εν τω πέραν του ποταμού ουκ έσται σοι
17Then the king sent to Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and the rest of their fellow-servants who dwelt in Samaria, and the rest beyond the river, saying, Peace; and he says,	τον λόγον ον απέστειλεν ο βασιλεύς προς Ρεούμ βααλτάμ και Σαμψά γραμματέα και τους καταλοίπους συνδούλους αυτών τους οικούντας εν Σαμαρεία και τους καταλοίπους πέραν του ποταμού ειρήνην και φησίν
18The tribute-gatherer whom ye sent to us, has been called before me.	ο φορολόγος ον απεστείλατε προς ημάς εκλήθη έμπροσθεν εμού
19And a decree has been made by me, and we have examined, and found that city of old time exalts itself against kings, and that rebellions and desertions take place within it.	και παρ΄ εμού ετέθη γνώμη και επεσκέψαντο και ευρέθη ότι η πόλις εκείνη αφ΄ ημερών αιώνος επί βασιλείς επαίρεται και αποστάσεις και φυγάδες γίνονται εν αυτή
20And there were powerful kings in Jerusalem, and they ruled over all the country beyond the river, and abundant revenues and tribute were given to them.	και βασιλείς ισχυροί εγένοντο επί της Ιερουσαλήμ επικρατούντες παντός του πέραν του ποταμού και φόροι πράξεις τε και συντελέσματα δίδονται αυτοίς
21Now therefore make a decree to stop the work of those men, and that city shall no more be built.	και νυν θέτε γνώμην καταργήσαι τους άνδρας εκείνους και η πόλις εκείνη ουκ οικοδομηθήσεται έτι
22See that ye be careful of the decree, not to be remiss concerning this matter, lest at any time destruction should abound to the harm of kings.	όπως από της γνώμης πεφυλαγμένοι ήτε άνεσιν ποιήσαι περί τούτου μή πληθυνθή αφανισμός εις κακοποίησιν βασιλεύσι
23Then the tribute-gatherer of king Arthasastha read the letter before Reum the chancellor, and Sampsa the scribe, and his fellow-servants: and they went in haste to Jerusalem and through Juda, and caused them to cease with horses and an armed force.	τότε ο φορολόγος του Αρθασασθά βασιλέως ανέγνω ενώπιον Ρεούμ βααλτάμ και Σαμψά γραμματέως και συνδούλων αυτού και επορεύθησαν σπουδή εις Ιερουσαλήμ και εν Ιούδα και κατήργησαν αυτούς εν ίπποις και δυνάμει
24Then ceased the work of the house of God in Jerusalem, and it was at a stand until the second year of the reign of Darius king of the Persians.	τότε ήργησε το έργον οίκου του θεού το εν Ιερουσαλήμ και ην αργούν έως δευτέρου έτους της βασιλείας Δαρείου βασιλέως Περσών

Chapter 5

1And Aggaeus the prophet, and Zacharias the son of Addo, prophesied a prophesy to the Jews in Juda and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, even to them.	και προεφήτευσεν Αγγαίος ο προφήτης και Ζαχαρίας ο του Αδδώ προφητείαν επί τους Ιουδαίους τους εν Ιούδα και εν Ιερουσαλήμ εν ονόματι θεού Ισραήλ επ΄ αυτούς
2Then rose up Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec, and began to build the house of God that was in Jerusalem: and with them were the prophets of God assisting them.	τότε ανέστησαν Ζοροβαβέλ ο του Σαλαθιήλ και Ιησούς υιός Ιωσεδέκ και ήρξαντο οικοδομήσαι τον οίκον του θεού τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ και μετ΄ αυτών οι προφήται του θεού βοηθούντες αυτοίς
3At the same time came there upon them Thanthanai, the governor on this side the river, and Satharbuzanai, and their fellow-servants, and spoke thus to them, Who has ordained a decree for you to build this house, and to provide this preparation?	εν αυτώ τω καιρώ ήλθεν επ΄ αυτούς Θαθθαναϊ έπαρχος πέραν του ποταμού και Σαθραβουζάνης και οι σύνδουλοι αυτών και τοιάδε είπεν αυτοίς τις έθηκεν υμίν γνώμην του οικοδομήσαι τον οίκον τούτον και την χορηγίαν ταύτην καταρτίσασθαι
4Then they spoke thus to them, What are the names of the men that build this city?	τότε ταύτα είπον αυτοίς τίνα εστί τα ονόματα των ανδρών των οικοδομούντων την πόλιν ταύτην
5But the eyes of God were upon the captivity of Juda, and they did not cause them to cease till the decree was brought to Darius; and then was sent by the tribute-gatherer concerning this	και οι οφθαλμοί του θεού εγένοντο επί την αιχμαλωσίαν Ιούδα και ου κατήργησαν αυτούς έως γνώμη τω Δαρείω απηνέχθη και τότε δίδωσι τω φορολόγω περί τούτου
6the copy of a letter, which Thanthanai, the governor of the part on this side the river, and Satharbuzanai, and their fellow-servants the Apharsachaeans who were on this side of the river, sent to king Darius.	διασάφησις επιστολής ης απέστειλε Θαθθαναϊ ο έπαρχος του πέραν του ποταμού και Σαθραβουζάνης και οι σύνδουλοι αυτών Αφασατχαίοι οι εν τω πέραν του ποταμού Δαρείω τω βασιλεί
7They sent an account to him, and thus it was written in it: All peace to king Darius.	ρήμασιν απέστειλαν προς αυτόν και τάδε γέγραπται εν αυτώ Δαρείω τω βασιλεί ειρήνη πάσα
8Be it known to the king, that we went into the land of Judea, to the house of the great God; and it is building with choice stones, and they are laying timbers in the walls, and that work is prospering, and goes on favorably in their hands.	γνωστόν έστω τω βασιλεί ότι επορεύθημεν εις την Ιουδαίαν χώραν εις οίκον του θεού του μεγαλου και αυτός οικοδομείται εν τοις λίθοις εκλεκτοίς και ξύλα εντίθεται εν τοις τοίχοις και το έργον εκείνο επιδέξιον γίνεται και ευοδούται εν ταις χερσίν αυτών
9Then we asked those elders, and thus we said to them, Who gave you the order to build this house, and to provide this preparation?	τότε ηρωτήσαμεν τους πρεσβυτέρους εκείνους και ούτως είπαμεν αυτοίς τις έθηκεν υμίν γνώμην τον οίκον τούτον οικοδομήσαι και την χορηγίαν ταύτην καταρτίσασθαι
10And we asked them their names, in order to declare them to thee, so as to write to thee the names of their leading men.	και τα ονόματα αυτών ηρωτήσαμεν αυτούς του γνωρίσαι σοι ώστε γράψαι σοι τα ονόματα των ανδρών των αρχόντων αυτών
11And they answered us thus, saying, We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are building the house which had been built many years before this, and a great king of Israel built it, and established it for them.	και τοιούτο ρήμα απεκρίθησαν ημίν λέγοντες ημείς εσμέν δούλοι του θεού του ουρανού και της γης και οικοδομούμεν τον οίκον ος ην ωκοδομημένος προ τούτου έτη πολλά και βασιλεύς του Ισραήλ μέγας ωκοδόμησεν αυτόν και κατηρτίσατο αυτόν αυτοίς
12But after that our fathers provoked the God of heaven, he gave them into the hands of Nabuchodonosor the Chaldean, king of Babylon, and he destroyed this house, and carried the people captive to Babylon.	αφ΄ ότε δε παρώργισαν οι πατέρες ημών τον θεόν του ουρανού έδωκεν αυτούς εις χείρας Ναβουχοδονόσορ βασιλέως Βαβυλώνος του Χαλδαίου και τον οίκον τούτον κατέλυσε και τον λαόν απώκισεν εις Βαβυλώνα
13And in the first year of king Cyrus, Cyrus the king made a decree that this house of God should be built.	αλλ΄ εν έτει τω πρώτω Κύρου του βασιλέως των Βαβυλωνίων Κύρος ο βασιλεύς έθετο γνώμην τον οίκον του θεού τούτον οικοδομηθήναι
14And the gold and silver vessels of the house of God, which Nabuchodonosor brought out from the house that was in Jerusalem, and carried them into the temple of the king, them did king Cyrus bring out from the temple of the king, and gave them to Sabanasar the treasurer, who was over the treasurer;	και τα σκεύη του οίκου του θεού τα χρυσά και αργυρά α Ναβουχοδονόσορ εξήνεγκεν από του οίκου του εν Ιερουσαλήμ και απήνεγκεν αυτά εις τον ναόν του βασιλέως τον εν Βαβιλώνι εξήνεγκεν αυτά Κύρος ο βασιλεύς από του ναού του εν Βαβιλώνι και έδωκεν αυτά τω Σασαβασάρ τω θησαυροφύλακι τω επί του θησαυρού
15and said to him, Take all the vessels, and go, put them in the house that is in Jerusalem in their place.	και είπεν αυτώ ταύτα τα σκεύη λάβε και πορεύου θες αυτά εν τω οίκω τω εν Ιερουσαλήμ και ο οίκος του θεού οικοδομηθήτω εις τον αυτού τόπον
16Then that Sabanazar came, and laid the foundations of the house of God in Jerusalem: and from that time even until now it has been building, and has not been finished.	τότε Σασαβασάρ εκείνος ήλθε και έδωκε τους θεμελίους του οίκου του θεού του εν Ιερουσαλήμ και από τότε έως του νυν οικοδομείται και ουκ ετελέσθη
17And now, if it seem good to the king, lest search be made in the treasure-house of the king at Babylon, that thou mayest know if it be that a decree was made by king Cyrus to build that house of God that was in Jerusalem, and let the king send to us when he has learnt concerning this matter.	και νυν ει επί τον βασιλέα αγαθόν επισκοπείτω εν τω οίκω της γάζης του βασιλέως εκεί εν Βαβυλώνι όπως γνως ότι από του βασιλέως Κύρου ετέθη γνώμη οικοδομήσαι τον οίκον του θεού εκείνον τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ και γνους ο βασιλεύς περί τούτου πεμψάτω προς ημάς

Chapter 6

1Then Darius the king made a decree, and caused a search to be made in the record-offices, where the treasure is stored in Babylon.	τότε Δαρείος ο βασιλεύς έθηκε γνώμην και επεσκέψατο εν ταις βιβλιοθήκαις ου αι γάζαι έκειντο εκεί εν Βαβυλώνι
2And there was found in the city, in the palace, a volume, and this was the record written in it.	και ευρέθη εν Αμαθά πόλει εν τη βάρει της Μήδων πόλεως κεφαλίς μία και τούτο ην γεγραμμένον εν αυτή το υπόμνημα
3In the first year of king Cyrus, Cyrus the king made a decree concerning the holy house of God that was in Jerusalem, saying, Let the house be built, and the place where they sacrifice the sacrifices. (Also he appointed its elevation, in height sixty cubits; its breadth was of sixty cubits.)	εν έτει πρώτω Κύρου βασιλέως Κύρος ο βασιλεύς έθηκε γνώμην περί οίκου του θεού του εν Ιερουσαλήμ ο οίκος οικοδομηθήτω και τόπος ου θυσιάζουσι τα θυσιάσματα και τα θεμέλια τεθήτω ύψος πήχεις εξήκοντα πλάτος αυτού πηχεών εξήκοντα
4And let there be three strong layers of stone, and one layer of timber; and the expense shall be paid out of the house of the king.	και δόμοι λίθινοι κραταιοί τρεις και δόμον ξύλων καινών ένα και η δαπάνη εξ οίκου του βασιλέως δοθήσεται
5And the silver and the gold vessels of the house of God, which Nabuchodonosor carried off from the house that was in Jerusalem, and carried to Babylon, let them even be given, and be carried to the temple that is in Jerusalem, and put in the place where they were set in the house of God.	και τα σκεύη οίκου του θεού τα χρυσά και τα αργυρά α Ναβουχοδονόσορ εξήνεγκεν από του οίκου του εν Ιερουσαλήμ και εκόμισεν εις Βαβυλώνα και δοθήτω και απελθέτω εις τον ναόν τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ επί τόπου αυτών και τεθήτω εν οίκω του θεού
6Now, ye rulers beyond the river, Satharbuzanai, and their fellow-servants the Apharsachaeans, who are on the other side of the river, give these things, keeping far from that place.	νυν ουν Θαθαναίε στρατηγέ του πέραν του ποταμού Σαθραβουζάνης και οι σύνδουλοι αυτού Αφαρσαχαίοι οι εν τω πέραν του ποταμού μακράν όντες εκείθεν
7Now let alone the work of the house of God: let the rulers of the Jews and the elders of the Jews build that house of God on its place.	και νυν άφετε το έργον οίκου του θεού οι αφηγούμενοι των Ιουδαίων και οι πρεσβύτεροι των Ιουδαίων οίκον του θεού εκείνον οικοδομησάτωσαν επί του τόπου αυτού
8Also a decree has been made by me, if haply ye may do somewhat in concert with the elders of the Jews for the building of that house of God: to wit, out of the king's property, even the tributes beyond the river, let there be money to defray the expenses carefully granted to those men, so that they be not hindered.	και δι΄ εμού ετέθη δόγμα του ποιήσαι διά των πρεσβυτέρων των Ιουδαίων εκείνων του οικοδομηθήναι οίκον του θεού εκείνον και από των υπαρχόντων του βασιλέως των φόρων πέραν του ποταμού επιμελώς δαπάνη έστω διδομένη τοις ανδράσιν εκείνοις του μη καταργηθήναι
9And whatever need there may be, ye shall give both the young of bulls and rams, and lambs for whole-burnt-offerings to the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, oil:—let it be given them according to the word of the priests that are in Jerusalem, day by day whatsoever they shall ask;	και ο αν υστέρημα και υιούς βοών και κριών και αμνούς εις ολοκαυτώσεις τω θεώ του ουρανού πυρούς άλας οίνον έλαιον κατά το ρήμα των ιερέων των εν Ιερουσαλήμ έστω διδόμενον αυτοίς ημέραν εν ημέρα απαραλλάκτως ο αν αιτήσωσιν
10that they may offer sweet savours to the God of heaven, and that they may pray for the life of the king and his sons.	ίνα ώσιν ευωδίας προσφέροντες τω θεώ του ουρανού και προσεύχωνται εις ζωήν του βασιλέως και των υιών αυτού
11And a decree has been made by me, that every man who shall alter this word, timber shall be pulled down from his house, and let him be lifted up and slain upon it, and his house shall be confiscated.	και απ΄ μου ετέθη γνώμη ότι πας άνθρωπος ος αν αλλάξει το ρήμα τούτο καθαιρεθήσεται ξύλον εκ της οικίας αυτού και ωρθώμενος παγήσεται επ΄ αυτού και ο οίκος αυτού έσται εις διαρπαγήν
12And may the God whose name dwells there, overthrow every king and people who shall stretch out his hand to alter or destroy the house of God which is in Jerusalem. I Darius have made a decree; let it be diligently attended to.	και ο θεός ου κατασκηνοί το όνομα εκεί καταστρέψει πάντα βασιλέα και λαόν ος εκτείνη την χείρα αυτού αλλάξαι και αφανίσαι τον οίκον του θεού εκείνον τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ εγώ Δαρείος έθηκα γνώμην επιμελώς γινέσθω
13Then Thanthanai the governor on this side beyond the river, Satharbuzanai, and his fellow-servants, according to that which king Darius sent, so they did diligently.	τότε Θαθανναϊ ο έπαρχος πέραν του ποταμού και Σαθραβουζάνης και οι σύνδουλοι αυτού καθότι απέστειλε Δαρείος ο βασιλεύς ούτως εποίησαν επιμελώς
14And the elders of the Jews and the Levites built, at the prophecy of Aggaeus the prophet, and Zacharias the son of Addo: and they built up, and finished it, by the decree of the God of Israel, and by the decree of Cyrus, and Darius, and Arthasastha, kings of the Persians.	και οι πρεσβύτεροι των Ιουδαίων ωκοδόμουν και κατεύθυνον εν προφητεία Αγγαίου του προφήτου και Ζαχαρίου υιόυ Αδδώ και ανωκοδόμησαν και κατηρτίσαντο από γνώμης θεού Ισραήλ και από γνώμης Κύρου και Δαρείου και Αρθασασθά βασιλέων Περσών
15And they finished this house by the third day of the month Adar, which is the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king.	και ετέλεσαν τον οίκον τούτον έως ημέρας τρίτης μηνός Αδάρ ο εστιν έτος έκτον της βασιλείας Δαρείου του βασιλέως
16And the children of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the rest of the children of the captivity, kept the dedication of the house of God with gladness.	και εποίησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται και οι κατάλοιποι υιών αποικεσίας εγκαίνια του οίκου του θεού μετ΄ ευφροσύνης
17And they offered for the dedication of the house of God a hundred calves, two hundred rams, four hundred lambs, twelve kids of the goats for a sin-offering for all Israel, according to the number of the tribes of Israel.	και προσήνεγκαν εις τα εγκαίνια του οίκου του θεού τούτου μόσχους εκατόν κριούς διακοσίους αμνούς τετρακοσίους χιμάρους αιγών περί αμαρτίας υπέρ παντός Ισραήλ δώδεκα εις αριθμόν φυλών Ισραήλ
18And they set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their separate orders, for the services of God in Jerusalem, according to the writing of the book of Moses.	και έστησαν τους ιερείς εν διαιρέσεσιν αυτών και τους Λευίτας εν μερισμοίς αυτών επί δουλείας οίκου του θεού του εν Ιερουσαλήμ κατά την γραφήν βίβλου Μωυσή
19And the children of the captivity kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.	και εποίησαν οι υιοί της αποικεσίας το πάσχα τη τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτη του μηνός του πρώτου
20For the priests and Levites were purified, all were clean to a man, and they slew the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves.	ότι εκαθαρίσθησαν οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται ως εις πάντες καθαροί και έσφαξαν το πάσχα τοις πάσιν υιοίς της αποικεσίας και τοις αδελφοίς αυτών τοις ιερεύσι και εαυτοίς
21And the children of Israel ate the passover, even they that were of the captivity, and every one who separated himself to them from the uncleanness of the nations of the land, to seek the Lord God of Israel.	και έφαγον οι υιοί Ισραήλ το πάσχα οι εξελθόντες από της αποικεσίας και πας ο χωριζόμενος της ακαθαρσίας εθνών της γης προς αυτούς του εκζητήσαι κύριον θεόν Ισραήλ
22and they kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with gladness, because the Lord made them glad, and he turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, to strengthen their hands in the works of the house of the God of Israel.	και εποίησαν την εορτήν των αζύμων επτά ημέρας μετ΄ ευφροσύνης ότι εύφρανεν αυτούς κύριος και απέστρεψε καρδίαν βασιλέως Ασσούρ επ΄ αυτούς κραταιώσαι τας χείρας αυτών εν έργοις οίκου του θεού Ισραήλ

Chapter 7

1Now after these things, in the reign of Arthasastha king of the Persians, came up Esdras the son of Saraias, the son of Azarias, the son of Chelcias,	και μετά τα ρήματα ταύτα εν τη βασιλεία Αρθασασθά βασιλέως Περσών ανέβη Έσδρας υιός Σαραϊου υιόυ Αζαρίου υιόυ Χελκίου
2the son of Selum, the son of Sadduc, the son of Achitob,	υιόυ Σελλούμ υιόυ Σαδώκ υιόυ Αχιτώβ
3the son of Samarias, the son of Esria, the son of Mareoth,	υιόυ Αμαρίου υιόυ Αζαρίου υιόυ Μαριώθ
4the son of Zaraia, the son of Ozias, the son of Bokki,	υιόυ Ζαραϊου υιόυ Οζί υιόυ Βοκκί
5the son of Abisue, the son of Phinees, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the first priest.	υιόυ Αβισουέ υιόυ Φινεές υιόυ Ελεάζαρ υιόυ Ααρών του ιερέως του πρώτου
6This Esdras went up out of Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel gave: and the king gave him leave, for the hand of the Lord his God was upon him in all things which he sought.	αυτός Έσδρας ανέβη εκ Βαβυλώνος και αυτός γραμματεύς ταχύς εν νόμω Μωυσή ον έδωκε κύριος ο θεός Ισραήλ και έδωκεν αυτώ ο βασιλεύς ότι χειρ κυρίου θεού αυτού επ΄ αυτόν εν πάσιν οις εζήτει αυτός
7And some of the children of Israel went up, and some of the priests, and of the Levites, and the singers, and the door-keepers, and the Nathinim, to Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Arthasastha the king.	και ανέβησαν από των υιών Ισραήλ και από των ιερέων και από των Λευιτών και οι άδοντες και οι πυλωροί και οι Ναθιναίοι εις Ιερουσαλήμ εν έτει εβδόμω τω Αρθασασθά τω βασιλεί
8And they came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, this was the seventh year of the king.	και ήλθον εις Ιερουσαλήμ τω μηνί τω πέμπτω τούτο το έτος έβδομον τω βασιλεί
9For in the first day of the first month he began the going up from Babylon, and in the first day of the fifth month, they came to Jerusalem, for the good hand of his God was upon him.	ότι εν μία του μηνός του πρώτου αυτός εθεμελίωσε την ανάβασιν την από Βαβυλώνος εν δε τη πρώτη του μηνός του πέμπτου ήλθεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ ότι χειρ θεού αυτού ην αγαθή επ΄ αυτόν
10For Esdras had determined in his heart to seek the law, and to do and teach the ordinances and judgments in Israel.	ότι Έσδρας ετοίμασε την καρδίαν αυτού ζητήσαι τον νόμον του κυρίου και ποιείν και διδάσκειν εν Ισραήλ προστάγματα και κρίματα
11And this is the copy of the order which Arthasastha gave to Esdras the priest, the scribe of the book of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his ordinances to Israel.	και τούτο το αντίγραφον του διατάγματος ου έδωκεν Αρθασασθά ο βασιλεύς Έσδρα τω ιερεί τω γραμματεί βιβλίου λόγων εντολών κυρίου και προσταγμάτων αυτού επί τον Ισραήλ
12Arthasastha, king of kings, to Esdras, the scribe of the law of the Lord God of heaven, Let the order and the answer be accomplished.	Αρθασασθά βασιλεύς βασιλέων Έσδρα τω ιερεί γραμματεί νόμου του θεού του ουρανού τετέλεσται λόγος και η απόκρισις
13A decree is made by me, that every one who is willing in my kingdom of the people of Israel, and of the priests and Levites, to go to Jerusalem, be permitted to go with thee.	απ΄ εμού ετέθη γνώμη ότι πας ο εκουσιαζόμενος εν βασιλεία μου από λαού Ισραήλ και ιερέων και Λευιτών πορευθήναι εις Ιερουσαλήμ μετά σου πορευθήτω
14One has been sent from the king and the seven councillors, to visit Judea and Jerusalem, according to the law of their God that is in thine hand.	καθ από προσώπου του βασιλέως και των επτά συμβούλων αυτού απεστάλης σκέψασθαι επί την Ιουδαίαν και Ιερουσαλήμ και εν νόμω θεού αυτών εν χειρί σου
15And for the house of the Lord there have been sent silver and gold, which the king and the councillors have freely given to the God of Israel, who dwells in Jerusalem.	απενεγκείν και εις τον οίκον κυρίου αργύριον και χρυσίον ο ο βασιλεύς και οι σύμβουλοι εκουσιάσθησαν τω θεώ του Ισραήλ τω εν Ιερουσαλήμ κατοικούντι
16And all the silver and gold, whatsoever thou shalt find in all the land of Babylon, with the freewill-offering of the people, and the priests that offer freely for the house of God which is in Jerusalem.	και παν αργύριον και χρυσίον οτι αν εύρης εν πάση χώρα Βαβυλώνος μετά εκουσιασμού του λαού και ιερέων των εκουσιαζομένων εις οίκον θεού τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ
17And as for every one that arrives there, speedily order him by this letter to bring calves, rams, lambs, and their meat-offerings, and their drink-offerings; and thou shalt offer them on the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.	και πάντα προσπορευόμενον τούτον ετοίμως ένταξον εν βιβλίω τούτω μόσχους κριούς αμνούς και θυσίας αυτών και σπονδάς αυτών και προσοίσεις αυτά επί του θυσιαστηρίου του οίκου του θεού υμών του εν Ιερουσαλήμ
18And whatever it shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, do as it is pleasing to your God.	και ει επί σε και τους αδελφούς σου αγαθυνθή εν καταλοίπω του αργυρίου και χρυσίου ποιήσαι ως αρεστόν τω θεώ υμών ποιήσατε
19And deliver the vessels that are given thee for the service of the house of God, before God in Jerusalem.	και τα σκεύη τα διδόμενά σοι εις λειτουργίαν οίκου θεού παράδος ενώπιον θεού εν Ιερουσαλήμ
20And as to the rest of the need of the house of thy God, thou shalt give from the king's treasure-houses,	και το κατάλοιπον χρείας οίκου θεού σου ο αν φανή σοι δούναι δώσεις από οίκων γάζης βασιλέως
21and from me, whatever it shall seem good to thee to give. I king Arthasastha have made a decree for all the treasuries that are in the country beyond the river, that whatever Esdras the priest and scribe of the God of heaven may ask you, it shall be done speedily,	εγώ Αρθασασθά βασιλεύς έθηκα γνώμην πάσαις ταις γάζαις ταις εν πέραν του ποταμού ότι παν ο αν αιτήση υμάς Έσδρας ο ιερεύς και γραμματεύς του νόμου του θεού του ουρανού ετοίμως γινέσθω
22to the amount of a hundred talents of silver, and a hundred measures of wheat, and a hundred baths of wine, and a hundred baths of oil, and salt without reckoning.	έως αργυρίου ταλάντων εκατόν και έως πυρού κόρων εκατόν και έως οίνου βατών εκατόν και έως ελαίου βατών εκατόν και άλας ου ουκ έστι γραφή
23Let whatever is in the decree of the God of heaven, be done: take heed lest any one make an attack on the house of the God of heaven, lest at any time there shall be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons.	παν ο εστιν εν γνώμη του θεού του ουρανού γινέσθω εν τω οίκω του θεού του ουρανού προσέχετε μη επιχειρήση εις τον οίκον του θεού του ουρανού μήποτε γένηται οργή επί την βασιλείαν του βασιλέως και των υιών αυτού
24Also this has been declared to you, with respect to all the priests, and Levites, the singers, porters, Nathinim and ministers of the house of God, let no tribute be paid to thee; thou shalt not have power to oppress them.	και υμίν εγνώρισται εν πάσι τοις ιερεύσι και τοις Λευίταις άδουσι πυλωροίς Ναθινίμ και λειτουργοίς οίκου θεού τούτο τον φόρον και πράξιν και αποφοράν ουκ έχειν υμάς εξουσίαν επιβαλείν επ΄ αυτούς
25And thou, Esdras, as the wisdom of God is in thy hand, appoint scribes and judges, that they may judge for all the people beyond the river, all that know the law of the Lord thy God; and ye shall make it known to him that knows not.	και συ Έσδρα κατά την σοφίαν του θεού την εν χειρί σου κατάστησον γραμματείς και κριτάς ίνα ώσι κρίνοντες παντί τω λαώ τω εν πέραν του ποταμού πάσι τοις ειδόσι τα νόμημα του θεού σου και τω μη ειδότι γνωριείτε
26And whosoever shall not do the law of God, and the law of the king readily, judgment shall be taken upon him, whether for death or for chastisement, or for a fine of his property, or casting into prison.	και πας ος αν μη η ποιών τον νόμον του θεού και τον νόμον του βασιλέως επιμελώς το κρίμα έσται γινόμενον εξ αυτού εάν τε εις θάνατον εάν τε η εκριζώσαι αυτόν η παιδεύσαι η ζημιώσαι τα υπάρχοντα η εις φυλακήν εγκλείσαι
27Blessed be the Lord God of our fathers, who has put it thus into the heart of the king, to glorify the house of the Lord which is in Jerusalem;	ευλογητός κύριος ο θεός των πατέρων ημών ος έδωκεν εν καρδία του βασιλέως ούτως του δοξάσαι τον οίκον κυρίου τον εν Ιερουσαλήμ
28and has given me favour in the eyes of the king, and of his councillors, and all the rulers of the king, the exalted ones. And I was strengthened according to the good hand of God upon me, and I gathered chief men of Israel to go up with me.	και επ΄ εμέ έκλινεν έλεος εν οφθαλμοίς του βασιλέως και των συμβούλων αυτού και πάντων των αρχόντων του βασιλέως των δυνατών και εγώ εκραταιώθην εν τη χειρί κυρίου θεού μου τη αγαθή επ΄ εμέ και συνήξα από Ισραήλ άρχοντας του αναβήναι μετ΄ εμού

Chapter 8

1And these are the heads of their families, the leaders that went up with me in the reign of Arthasastha the king of Babylon.	και ούτοι οι άρχοντες πατριών αυτών και η γενεαλογία των αναβάντων μετ΄ εμού εν τη βασιλεία Αρθασασθά του βασιλέως Βαβυλώνος
2Of the sons of Phinees; Gerson: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Attus.	από των υιών Φινεές Γηρσώμ από υιών Ιθάμαρ Δανιήλ από υιών Δαυίδ Αττούς
3Of the sons of Sachania, and the sons of Phoros; Zacharias: and with him a company of a hundred and fifty.	από υιών Σαχανϊα από υιών Φόρος Ζαχαρίας και μετ΄ αυτού εγενεαλογήθησαν οι άρσενες εκατόν και πεντήκοντα
4Of the sons of Phaath-Moab; Eliana the son of Saraia, and with him two hundred that were males.	από υιών Φαάθ-Μωάβ Ελιαναϊ υιός Σαραϊα και μετ΄ αυτού διακόσιοι τα αρσενικά
5And of the sons of Zathoes; Sechenias the son of Aziel, and with him three hundred males.	από υιών Σεχενίου υιός Αζιήλ και μετ΄ αυτού τριακόσια τα αρσενικά
6And of the sons of Adin; Obeth the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.	από των υιών Αδίν Ωβήδ υιός Ιωνάθαν και μετ΄ αυτού πεντήκοντα τα αρσενικά
7And of the sons of Elam; Isaeas the son of Athelia, and with him seventy males.	από των υιών Ηλάν Ισαϊας υιός Αθελία και μετ΄ αυτού εβδομήκοντα τα αρσενικά
8And of the sons of Saphatia; Zabadias the son of Michael, and with him eighty males.	από των υιών Σαφατία Σαβδίας υιός Μιχαήλ και μετ΄ αυτού ογδοήκοντα τα αρσενικά
9And of the sons of Joab; Abadia the son of Jeiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.	από των υιών Ιωάβ Αβδίας υιός Ιεϊήλ και μετ΄ αυτού διακόσιοι δεκαοκτώ τα αρσενικά
10And of the sons of Baani; Selimuth the son of Josephia, and with him a hundred and sixty males.	από των υιών Σελιμούθ υιός Ιωσεφία και μετ΄ αυτού εκατόν εξήκοντα τα αρσενικά
11And of the sons of Babi; Zacharias the son of Babi, and with him twenty-eight males.	από των υιών Βαβί Ζαχαρίας υιός Βεβί και μετ΄ αυτού εικοσιοκτώ τα αρσενικά
12And of the sons of Asgad; Joanan the son of Accatan, and with him a hundred and ten males.	από των υιών Ασγάδ Ιωανάν υιός Ακατάν και μετ΄ αυτού εκατόν δέκα τα αρσενικά
13And of the sons of Adonicam were the last, and these were their names, Eliphalat, Jeel, and Samaea, and with them sixty males.	από των υιών Αδωνικάμ έσχατοι και ταύτα τα ονόματα αυτών Ελιφαλάτ Ιεϊήλ και Σαμαϊα και μετ΄ αυτών εξήκοντα τα αρσενικά
14And of the sons of Baguae, Uthai, and Zabud, and with him seventy males.	από των υιών Βαγουέ Ουθαϊ και Ζαβούδ και μετ΄ αυτών εβδομήκοντα τα αρσενικά
15And I gathered them to the river that comes to Evi, and we encamped there three days: and I reviewed the people and the priests, and found none of the sons of Levi there.	και συνήξα αυτούς προς τον ποταμόν τον ερχόμενον προς το Ευϊ και παρενεβάλομεν εκεί ημέρας τρεις και συνήκα εν τω λαώ και εν τοις ιερεύσι και από υιών Λευί ουχ εύρον εκεί
16And I sent men of understanding to Eleazar, to Ariel, to Semeias, and to Alonam, and to Jarib, and to Elnatham, and to Nathan, and to Zacharias, and to Mesollam, and to Joarim, and to Elnathan.	και απέστειλα τω Ελεάζαρ τω Αριήλ τω Σεμεϊα και τω Ελινάθαν και τω Ιαρήβ τω Ελναθάν τω Νάθαν τω Ζαχαρία τω Μεσολάμ άρχοντας τω Ιωαρείβ και τω Ελναθάν συνιέντας
17And I forwarded them to the rulers with the money of the place, and I put words in their mouth to speak to their brethren the Athinim with the money of the place, that they should bring us singers for the house of our God.	και ενετειλάμην αυτοίς προς Αδαϊ τον άρχοντα εκ Κασφίε του τόπου και έθηκα εν στόματι αυτών λόγους λαλήσαι προς Αδδαεί και προς τους αδελφούς αυτών των Ναθινίμ τους εν αργυρίω του τόπου Κασφίε του ενέγκαι ημίν λειτουργούς και άδοντας εις οίκον θεού ημών
18And they came to us, as the good hand of our God was upon us, even a man of understanding of the sons of Mooli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel, and at the commencement came his sons and his brethren, eighteen.	και ήλθον ημίν ως η χειρ του θεού ημών η αγαθή εφ΄ ημάς ανήρ συνετός από υιών Μοολεί του Λευί του Ισραήλ και Σαρουϊα και οι υιοί αυτού και αδελφοί αυτού δεκαοκτώ
19And Asebia, and Isaia of the sons of Merari, his brethren and his sons, twenty.	και τον Ασεβία και τον Ισαϊα από των υιών Μεραρί αδελφοί αυτού και υιοί αυτού είκοσι
20And of the Nathinim; whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites there were two hundred and twenty Nathinim; all were gathered by their names.	και από των Ναθινίμ ων έδωκε Δαυίδ και οι άρχοντες εις δουλείαν των Λευιτών Ναθινίμ διακόσιοι είκοσι πάντες ούτοι ωνομάσθησαν
21And I proclaimed there a fast, at the river Aue, that we should humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way for us, and for our children, and for all our property.	και εκάλεσα εκεί νηστείαν επί τον ποταμόν Αθουέ του ταπεινωθήναι ενώπιον του θεού ημών ζητήσαι παρ΄ αυτού οδόν ευθείαν ημίν και τοις τέκνοις ημών και πάση τη κτήσει ημών
22For I was ashamed to ask of the king a guard and horsemen to save us from the enemy in the way: for we had spoken to the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all that seek him, for good; but his power and his wrath are upon all that forsake him.	ότι ησχύνθην αιτήσασθαι παρά του βασιλέως δύναμιν και ιππείς σώσαι ημάς από εχθρού εν τη οδώ ότι είπαμεν τω βασιλεί λέγοντες χειρ του θεού ημών επί πάντας τους ζητούντας αυτόν εις αγαθόν και κράτος αυτού και θυμός αυτού επί πάντας τους εγκαταλείποντας αυτόν
23So we fasted, and asked of our God concerning this; and he hearkened to us.	και ενηστεύσαμεν και εζητήσαμεν παρά του θεού ημών περί τούτου και επήκουσεν ημών
24And I gave charge to twelve of the chiefs of the priests, to Saraia, to Asabia, and ten of their brethren with them.	και διέστειλα από αρχόντων των ιερέων δώδεκα τω Σαραϊα τω Ασαβία και μετ΄ αυτών από αδελφών αυτών δέκα
25And I weighed to them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of the first-fruits of the house of our God, which the king, and his councillors, and his princes, and all Israel that were found, had dedicated.	και έστησα αυτοίς το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη της απαρχής οίκου θεού ημών α αφώρισεν ο βασιλεύς και οι σύμβουλοι αυτού και οι άρχοντες αυτού και πας Ισραήλ οι ευρισκόμενοι
26I even weighed into their hands six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and a hundred silver vessels, and a hundred talents of gold;	και έστησα επί χείρας αυτών αργυρίου τάλαντα εξακόσια πεντήκοντα και σκεύη αργυρά εκατόν και τάλαντα χρυσίου εκατόν
27and twenty golden bowls, weighing about a thousand drachms, and superior vessels of fine shining brass, precious as gold.	και χαφουρή χρυσούς είκοσι δραχμών χιλίων και σκεύη χαλκού στίλβοντος αγαθού διάφορα επιθυμητά ως χρυσίον
28And I said to them, Ye are holy to the Lord; and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are freewill-offerings to the Lord God of our fathers.	και είπα προς αυτούς υμείς άγιοι κυρίω τω θεώ και τα σκεύη άγια και το αργύριον και το χρυσίον εκούσια τω κυρίω θεώ των πατέρων ημών
29Be watchful and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief priests and the Levites, and the chiefs of families in Jerusalem, at the chambers of the house of the Lord.	αγρυπνείτε και τηρείτε έως στήτε ενώπιον των αρχόντων των ιερέων και των Λευιτών και αρχόντων των πατριών του Ισραήλ εν Ιερουσαλήμ εις παστοφόρια οίκου κυρίου
30So the priests and the Levites took the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring to Jerusalem into the house of our God.	και εδέξαντο οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται τον σταθμόν του αργυρίου και του χρυσίου και των σκευών του ενεγκείν εις Ιερουσαλήμ εις οίκον του θεού ημών
31And we departed from the river of Aue on the twelfth day of the first month, to come to Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and delivered us from the hand of the enemy and adversary in the way.	και εξήραμεν από του ποταμού του Αχουά εν τη δωδεκάτη του μηνός του πρώτου του ελθείν εις Ιερουσαλήμ και χειρ θεού ημών ην εφ΄ ημίν και ερρύσατο ημάς εκ χειρός εχθρού και πολεμίου εν τη οδώ
32And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.	και ήλθομεν εις Ιερουσαλήμ και εκαθίσαμεν εκεί ημέρας τρεις
33And it came to pass on the fourth day that we weighed the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, in the house of our God, into the hand of Merimoth the son of Uria the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinees, and with them Jozabad the son of Jesus, and Noadia the son of Banaia, the Levites.	και τη ημέρα τη τετάρτη εστήσαμεν το αργύριον και το χρυσίον και τα σκεύη εν οίκω του θεού ημών επί χείρα Μαριμώθ υιόυ Ουρία του ιερέως και μετ΄ αυτού Ελεάζαρ υιός Φινεές και μετ΄ αυτών Ιωσαβάδ υιός Ιησού και Νωαδία υιός Βαανία οι Λευίται
34All things were reckoned by number and weight, and the whole weight was written down.	εν αριθμώ και εν σταθμώ τα πάντα και εγράφη πας ο σταθμός εν τω καιρώ εκείνω
35At that time the children of the banishment that came from the captivity offered whole-burnt-offerings to the God of Israel, twelve calves for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, twelve goats for a sin-offering; all whole-burnt-offerings to the Lord.	οι ελθόντες από της αιχμαλωσίας υιοί της παροικίας προσήνεγκαν ολοκαυτώσεις τω θεώ Ισραήλ μόσχους δώδεκα περί παντός Ισραήλ κριούς εννενηκονταέξ αμνούς εβδομηκονταεπτά χιμάρους περί αμαρτίας δώδεκα τα πάντα ολοκαυτώματα τω κυρίω
36And they gave the king's mandate to the king's lieutenants, and the governors beyond the river: and they honoured the people and the house of God.	και έδωκαν το νόμισμα του βασιλέως τοις διοικηταίς του βασιλέως και επάρχοις πέραν του ποταμού και εδόξασαν τον λαόν και τον οίκον του θεού

Chapter 9

1And when these things were finished, the princes drew near to me, saying, The people of Israel, and the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the people of the lands in their abominations, even the Chananite, the Ethite, the Pherezite, the Jebusite, the Ammonite, the Moabite, and the Moserite and the Amorite.	και ως ετελέσθη ταύτα ήγγισαν προς με οι άρχοντες λέγοντες ουκ εχωρίσθησαν ο λαός Ισραήλ και οι ιερείς και οι Λευίται από λαών των γαιών εν τοις βδελύγμασιν αυτών του Χαναναίου ο Εθθί ο Φερεζί ο Ιεβουσί ο Αμμωνί ο Μωαβί και ο Μοσρί και ο Αμορί
2For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and their sons; and the holy seed has passed among the nations of the lands, and the hand of the rulers has been first in this transgression.	ότι έλαβον από θυγατέρων αυτών εαυτοίς και τοις υιοίς αυτών και συνεμίγη σπέρμα το άγιον εν λαοίς των γαιών και χειρ των αρχόντων και των στρατηγών εν τη ασυνθεσία ταύτη εν αρχή
3And when I heard this thing, I rent my garments, and trembled, and plucked some of the hairs of my head and of my beard, and sat down mourning.	και ως ήκουσα τον λόγον τούτον διέρρηξα τα ιμάτιά μου και τον υποδύτην μου και επαλλόμην και έτιλλον τας τρίχας της κεφαλής μου και από του πώγωνός μου και εκαθήμην ηρεμάζων
4Then there assembled to me all that followed the word of the God of Israel, on account of the transgression of the captivity; and I remained mourning until the evening sacrifice.	και συνήχθησαν προς με πας ο έντρομος λόγον θεού Ισραήλ επί ασυνθεσία της αποικίας καγώ καθήμενος ηρέμαζων έως της θυσίας της εσπερινής
5And at the evening sacrifice I rose up from my humiliation; and when I had rent my garments, then I trembled, and I bow myself on my knees, and spread out my hands to the Lord God,	και εν θυσία τη εσπερινή ανέστην από της ταπεινώσεώς μου και εν τω διαρρήξαί με τα ιμάτιά μου και τον υποδύτην μου και κλίνω επί τα γόνατά μου και εκπετάζω τας χείράς μου προς κύριον τον θεόν μου
6and I said, O Lord, I am ashamed and confounded, O my God, to lift up my face to thee: for our transgressions have abounded over our head, and our trespasses have increased even to heaven.	και είπα κύριε ησχύνθην και ενετράπην του υψώσαι θεέ μου το πρόσωπόν μου προς σε ότι αι ανομίαι ημών επληθύνθησαν υπέρ κεφαλής ημών και αι πλημμέλειαι ημών εμεγαλύνθησαν έως τον ουρανόν
7From the days of our fathers we have been in a great trespass until this day: and because of our iniquities we, and our kings, and our children, have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the Gentiles by the sword, and by captivity, and by spoil, and with shame of our face, as at this day.	από ημερών πατέρων ημών εσμέν εν πλημμελεία μεγάλη έως της ημέρας ταύτης και ταις ανομίαις ημών παρεδόθημεν ημείς και οι βασιλείς ημών και οι ιερείς ημών εν χειρί βασιλέων των εθνών εν ρομφαία και εν αιχμαλωσία και εν αρπαγή και εν αισχύνη προσώπου ημών ως η ημέρα αύτη
8And now our God has dealt mercifully with us, so as to leave us to escape, and to give us an establishment in the place of his sanctuary, to enlighten our eyes, and to give a little quickening in our servitude.	και νυν ως βραχύ επιεικεύσατο ημίν κύριος ο θεός ημών του καταλιπείν ημάς εις σωτηρίαν και δούναι ημίν στήριγμα εν τόπω αγιάσματος αυτού του φωτίσαι οφθαλμούς ημών και δούναι ζωοποίησιν μικράν εν τη δουλεία ημών
9For we are slaves, yet in our servitude the Lord our God has not deserted us; and he has extended favour to us in the sight of the kings of the Persians, to give us a quickening, that they should raise up the house of our God, and restore the desolate places of it, and to give us a fence in Juda and Jerusalem.	ότι δούλοι εσμέν και εν τη δουλεία ημών ουκ εγκατέλιπεν ημάς κύριος ο θεός ημών και έκλινεν εφ΄ ημάς έλεος ενώπιον βασιλέων Περσών του δούναι ημίν ζωοποίησιν του υψώσαι αυτούς τον οίκον του θεού ημών και αναστήσαι τα έρημα αυτής και του δούναι ημίν φραγμόν εν Ιούδα και Ιερουσαλήμ
10What shall we say, our God, after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,	και νυν τι είπωμεν ο θεός ημών μετά τούτο ότι εγκατελίπομεν τας εντολάς σου
11which thou hast given us by the hand of thy servants the prophets, saying, The land, into which ye go to inherit it, is a land subject to disturbance by the removal of the people of the nations for their abominations, wherewith they have filled it from one end to the other by their uncleanness.	ας έδωκας ημίν εν χειρί των δούλων σου των προφητών λέγων η γη εις ην εισπορεύεσθε εκεί κληρονομήσαι αυτήν γη μετακινουμένη εστίν εν μετακινήσει λαών των γαιών βδελύγμασιν αυτών ων έπλησαν αυτήν από στόματος επί στόμα εν ακαθαρσίαις αυτών
12And now give not your daughters to their sons, and take not of their daughters for your sons, neither shall ye seek their peace or their good for ever: that ye may be strong, and eat the good of the land, and transmit it as an inheritance to your children for ever.	και νυν τας θυγατέρας υμών μη δότε τοις υιοίς αυτών και από των θυγατέρων αυτών μη λάβητε τοις υιοίς υμών και ουκ εκζητήσετε ειρήνην αυτών και αγαθόν αυτών έως αιώνος όπως ενισχύσητε και φάγητε τα αγαθά της γης και κληροδοτήσητε τοις υιοίς υμών έως αιώνος
13And after all that is come upon us because of our evil deeds, and our great trespass, it is clear that there is none such as our God, for thou has lightly visited our iniquities, and given us deliverance;	και μετά παν το ερχόμενον εφ΄ ημάς εν ποιήμασιν ημών τοις πονηροίς και εν πλημμελεία ημών τη μεγάλη ότι συ ο θεός ημών εκούφισας ημών τας ανομίας και έδωκας ημίν σωτηρίαν
14whereas we have repeatedly broken thy commandments, and intermarried with the people of the lands: be not very angry with us to our utter destruction, so that there should be no remnant or escaping one.	ότι επεστρέψαμεν διασκεδάσαι τας εντολάς σου και επιγαμβρεύσαι τοις λαοίς των γαιών τούτων μη παροξυνθής εν ημίν έως συντελείας του μη είναι εγκατάλειμμα και διασωζόμενον
15O Lord God of Israel, thou art righteous; for we remain yet escaped, as at this day: behold, we are before thee in our trespasses: for we cannot stand before thee on this account.	κύριε ο θεός Ισραήλ δίκαιος συ ότι κατελείφθημεν διασωζόμενοι ως η ημέρα αύτη ιδού ημείς πάντας εναντίον σου εν πλημμελείαις ημών ότι ουκ έστι στήναι ενώπιόν σου επί τούτω

Chapter 10

1So when Esdras had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and praying before the house of God, a very great assembly of Israel came together to him, men and women and youths; for the people wept, and wept aloud.	και ως προσηύξατο Έσδρας και ως εξηγόρευσε κλαίων και προσπίπτων ενώπιον οίκου του θεού συνήχθησαν προς αυτόν από Ισραήλ εκκλησία πολλή σφόδρα άνδρες και γυναίκες και νεανίσκοι ότι κλαυθμώ μεγάλω έκλαυσεν ο λαός
2And Sechenias the son of Jeel, of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Esdras, We have broken covenant with our God, and have taken strange wives of the nations of the land: yet now there is patience of hope to Israel concerning this thing.	και απεκρίθη Σεχενίας υιός Ιεϊήλ από υιών Ηλάμ και είπε τω Έσδρα ημείς ησυνθετήσαμεν τω θεώ ημών και εκαθίσαμεν γυναίκας αλλοτρίας από των λαών της γης και νυν εστιν ελπίς τω Ισραήλ επί τούτω
3Now then let us make a covenant with our God, to put away all the wives, and their offspring, as thou shalt advise:	και νυν διαθώμεθα διαθήκην τω θεώ ημών εξαγαγείν πάσας τας γυναίκας και τα γεννώμενα εξ αυτών εν βουλή κυρίου και των τρεμόντων εν εντολαίς θεού ημών και ως ο νόμος γενηθήτω
4arise, and alarm them with the commands of our God; and let it be done according to the law. Rise up, for the matter is upon thee; and we are with thee: be strong and do.	ανάστηθι ότι επί σε το ρήμα και ημείς μετά σου κραταιού και ποίησον
5Then Esdras arose, and caused the rulers, the priests, and Levites, and all Israel, to swear that they would do according to this word: and they swore.	και ανέστη Έσδρας και ώρκισε τους άρχοντας των ιερείς και Λευίτας και πάντα Ισραήλ του ποιήσαι κατά το ρήμα τούτο και ώμοσαν
6And Esdras rose up from before the house of God, and went to the treasury of Joanan the son of Elisub; he even went thither: he ate no bread, and drank no water; for he mourned over the unfaithfulness of them of the captivity.	και ανέστη Έσδρας από προσώπου οίκου του θεού και επορεύθη εις γαζοφυλάκιον Ιωανάν υιόυ Ελισούβ και ηυλίσθη εκεί άρτον ουκ έφαγεν και ύδωρ ουκ έπιεν ότι επένθει επί τη ασυνθεσία της αποικίας
7And they made proclamation throughout Juda and Jerusalem to all the children of the captivity, that they should assemble at Jerusalem, saying,	και παρήνεγκαν φωνήν εν Ιούδα και εν Ιερουσαλήμ πάσι τοις υιοίς της αποικίας του συναθροισθήναι εις Ιερουσαλήμ
8Every one who shall not arrive within three days, as is the counsel of the rulers and the elders, all his substance shall be forfeited, and he shall be separated from the congregation of the captivity.	πας ος αν μη έλθη εις τρεις ημέρας ως αν η βουλή των αρχόντων και των πρεσβυτέρων αναθεματισθήσεται πάσα η ύπαρξις αυτού και αυτός διασταλήσεται από εκκλησίας της αποικίας
9So all the men of Juda and Benjamin assembled at Jerusalem within the three days. This was the ninth month: on the twentieth day of the month all the people sat down in the street of the house of the Lord, because of their alarm concerning the word, and because of the storm.	και συνήχθησαν πάντες άνδρες Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν εις Ιερουσαλήμ εις τας τρεις ημέρας ούτος ο μην ο έννατος εν τη εικάδι του μηνός εκάθισε πας ο λαός εν πλατεία οίκου του θεού εν τρόμω περί του ρήματος και από του χειμώνος
10And Esdras the priest arose, and said to them, Ye have broken covenant, and have taken strange wives, to add to the trespass of Israel.	και ανέστη Έσδρας ο ιερεύς και είπε προς αυτούς υμείς ησυνθετήκατε και εκαθίσατε γυναίκας αλλοτρίας του προσθείναι επί πλημμέλειαν Ισραήλ
11Now therefore give praise to the Lord God of our fathers, and do that which is pleasing in his sight: and separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the strange wives.	και νυν δότε αίνεσιν κυρίω τω θεώ των πατέρων ημών και ποιήσατε το αρεστόν ενώπιον αυτού και διαστάλητε από λαών της γης και από των γυναικών των αλλοτρίων
12Then all the congregation answered and said, This thy word is powerful upon us to do it.	και απεκρίθησαν πάσα η εκκλησία φωνή μεγάλη και είπον κατά τους λόγους σου ους έφης ούτως ποιήσομεν
13But the people is numerous, and the season is stormy, and there is no power to stand without, and the work is more than enough for one day or for two; for we have greatly sinned in this matter.	αλλά ο λαός πολύς και ο καιρός χειμερινός και ουκ έστι δύναμις στήναι έξω και το έργον ουκ εις ημέραν μίαν ουδέ δύο ότι επληθύναμεν του αδικήσαι εν τω ρήματι τούτω
14Let now our rulers stand, and for all those in our cities who have taken strange wives, let them come at appointed times, and with them elders from every several city, and judges, to turn away the fierce wrath of our God from us concerning this matter.	στήτωσαν δη οι άρχοντες ημών τη πάση εκκλησία και πάσι τοις εν πόλεσιν ημών ος εκάθισε γυναίκας αλλοτρίας ελθέτωσαν εις καιρούς από συνταγών και μετ΄ αυτών οι πρεσβύτεροι πόλεως και πόλεως και κρίται του αποστρέψαι οργήν θυμού θεού ημών εξ ημών περί του ρήματος τούτου
15Only Jonathan the son of Asael, and Jazias the son of Thecoe were with me concerning this; and Mesollam, and Sabbathai the Levite helped them.	πλην Ιωνάθαν υιός Ασαήλ και Ιαζίας υιός Θεκουέ μετ΄ εμού και Μεσολάμ και Σαβαθαϊ ο Λευίτης αντελαμβάνοντο αυτοίς
16And the children of the captivity did thus: and Esdras the priest, and heads of families according to their house were separated, and all by their names, for they returned in the first day of the tenth month to search out the matter.	και εποίησαν ούτως οι υιοί της αποικίας και διεστάλησαν Έσδρας ο ιερεύς και άνδρες άρχοντες πατριών των οίκων και πάντες εν ονόμασιν ότι επέστρεψαν εν ημέρα μία του μηνός του δεκάτου εκζητήσαι το ρήμα
17And they made an end with all the men who had taken strange wives by the first day of the first month.	και ετέλεσαν εν πάσιν ανδράσιν οι εκάθισαν γυναίκες αλλοτρίας έως ημέρας μιάς του μηνός του πρώτου
18And there were found some of the sons of the priests who had taken strange wives: of the sons of Jesus the son of Josedec, and his brethren; Maasia, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gadalia.	και ευρέθησαν από υιών των ιερέων οι εκάθισαν γυναίκας αλλοτρίας από υιών Ιησού υιόυ Ιωσεδέκ και αδελφοί αυτού Μαασία και Ελιέζερ και Ιαρίβ και Γαδαλίας
19And they pledged themselves to put away their wives, and offered a ram of the flock for a trespass-offering because of their trespass.	και έδωκαν χείρα αυτών του εξενέγκαι γυναίκας εαυτών και πλημμελείας κριόν εκ προβάτων περί πλημμελήσεως αυτών
20And of the sons of Emmer; Anani, and Zabdia.	και από υιών Εμμήρ Ανανία και Ζαβδία
21And of the sons of Eram; Masael, and Elia, and Samaia, and Jeel, and Ozia.	και από υιών Ηράμ Μαασία και Ελία και Σαμαρία και Ιεϊέλ και Οζίας
22And of the sons of Phasur; Elionai, Maasia, and Ismael, and Nathanael, and Jozabad, and Elasa.	και από υιών Φασούρ Ελιωναϊ Μαασία Ισμαήλ και Ναθαναήλ και Ιωζαβάδ και Ηλασά
23And of the Levites; Jozabad, and Samu, and Colia (he is Colitas,) and Phetheia, and Judas, and Eliezer.	και από των Λευιτών Ιωσαβάδ και Σεμεεί και Κωλία αυτός Κωλίτας και Φεθεϊα και Ιούδας και Ελιέζερ
24And of the singers; Elisab: and of the porters; Solmen, and Telmen, and Oduth.	και από των αδόντων Ελιασάβ και από των πυλωρών Σολήν και Τελλήν και Ουρίας
25Also of Israel: of the sons of Phoros; Ramia, and Azia, and Melchia, and Meamin, and Eleazar, and Asabia, and Banaia.	και από Ισραήλ από υιών Φόρος Ραμία και Αζία και Μελχία και Μεϊμίν και Ελεάζαρ και Μελχίας και Βανέας
26And of the sons of Helam; Matthania, and Zacharia, and Jaiel, and Abdia, and Jarimoth, and Elia.	και από υιών Ηλάμ Ματθανίας και Ζαχαρίας και Ιαϊήλ και Αβδίας και Ιεριμώθ και Ηλία
27And of the sons of Zathua; Elionai, Elisub, Matthanai, and Armoth, and Zabad, and Oziza.	και από των υιών Ζαθούα Ελιωναϊ Ελισούβ Ματθαναϊ και Ιαρμώθ και Ζαβάδ και Οζιζά
28And of the sons of Babei; Joanan, Anania, and Zabu, and Thali.	και από των υιών Βαβί Ιανάν και Ανανί και Ζαβού και Θαλί
29And of the sons of Banui; Mosollam, Maluch, Adaias, Jasub, and Saluia, and Remoth.	και από των υιών Βαανί Μοσσολάμ και Μαλούχ και Αδαϊας και Ιασούβ και Σαάλ και Ραμώθ
30And of the sons of Phaath Moab; Edne, and Chalel, and Banaia, Maasia, Matthania, Beseleel, and Banui, and Manasse.	και από των υιών Φαάθ Εδνέ και Χαλήλ και Βαναϊ και Μαασίας και Ματθανίας και Βεσσελεήλ και Βανουϊ και Μανασσή
31And of the sons of Eram; Eliezer, Jesia, Melchia, Samaias, Semeon,	και από των υιών Ηράμ Ελιέζερ Ιεσεϊα Μελχίας Σαμαϊ Σεμεών
32Benjamin, Baluch, Samaria.	Βενιαμίν Μελούχ και Σαμαρί
33And of the sons of Asem; Metthania, Matthatha, Zadab, Eliphalet, Jerami, Manasse, Semei.	και από των υιών Ασήμ Ματθαναϊ Ματθαθά Ζαβάδ Ελιφαλέτ Ιερεμί Μανασσής και Σεμεϊ
34And of the sons of Bani; Moodia, Amram, Uel,	και από των υιών Βανί Μοοδίας Αμράμ και Ουήλ
35Banaia, Badaia, Chelkia,	Βαναϊ Βαδαϊας Χελίας
36Uvania, Marimoth, Eliasiph,	Ουανία Μαριμώθ Ελιασίβ
37Matthania, Matthanai:	Ματθανίας και Ματθανί
38and so did the children of Banui, and the children of Semei,	και εποίησαν οι υιοί Βαουνί και οι υιοί Σεμεϊ
39and Selemia, and Nathan, and Adaia,	και Σελεμίας και Νάθαν και Αδαϊας
40Machadnabu, Sesei, Sariu,	και Μαχναδά και Σαρουά και Σεσεϊ
41Ezriel, and Selemia, and Samaria,	Εζριήλ και Σελεμίας και Σαμαρίας
42and Sellum, Amaria, Joseph.	και Σελλουμ και Αμαρίας και Ιωσήφ
43Of the sons of Nabu; Jael, Matthanias, Zabad, Zebennas, Jadai, and Joel, and Banaia.	από υιών Ναβού Ιεϊήλ Ματθαθίας Ζαβάδ Ζεβεννά Ιαδαϊ Ιωήλ και Βαναϊας
44All these had taken strange wives, and had begotten sons of them.	πάντες ούτοι έλαβον γυναίκας αλλοτρίας και εισί δε εξ αυτών των γυναικών αι εγέννησαν εξ αυτών υιούς
