Chapter 1[edit]
| 1And it came to pass after the death of Joshua, that the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, saying, Who shall go up for us first against the Chananites, to fight against them? | και εγένετο μετά την τελευτήν Ιησού και επηρώτων οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν κυρίω λέγοντες τις αναβήσεται ημίν προς τον Χαναναίον αφηγούμενος του πολεμήσαι προς αυτούς |
| 2And the Lord said, Judas shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand. | και είπε κύριος Ιούδας αναβήσεται ιδού δέδωκα την γην εν χειρί αυτού |
| 3And Judas said to his brother Symeon, Come up with me into my lot, and let us array ourselves against the Chananites, and I also will go with thee into thy lot: and Symeon went with him. | και είπεν Ιούδας προς Συμεών τον αδελφόν αυτού ανάβηθι μετ΄ εμού εν τω κλήρω μου και πολεμήσωμεν εν τω Χαναναίω και πορεύσομαι καγώ μετά σου εν τω κλήρω σου και επορεύθη μετ΄ αυτού Συμεών |
| 4And Judas went up; and the Lord delivered the Chananite and the Pherezite into their hands, and they smote them in Bezek to the number of ten thousand men. | και ανέβη Ιούδας και έδωκε κύριος τον Χαναναίον και τον Φερεζαίον εν χειρί αυτού και επάταξαν αυτούς εν Βεζέκ δέκα χιλιάδας ανδρών |
| 5And they overtook Adonibezek in Bezek, and fought against him; and they smote the Chananite and the Pherezite. | και εύρον τον Αδωνιβεζέκ εν Βεζέκ και επολέμησαν εν αυτώ και επάταξαν τον Χαναναίον και τον Φερεζαίον |
| 6And Adonibezek fled, and they pursued after him, and took him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. | και έφυγεν Αδωνιβεζέκ και κατεδίωξαν οπίσω αυτού και ελάβοσαν αυτόν και απέκοψαν τα άκρα των χειρών αυτού και τα άκρα των ποδών αυτού |
| 7And Adonibezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their food under my table: as I therefore have done, so God has recompensed me: and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died there. | και είπεν Αδωνιβεζέκ εβδομήκοντα βασιλείς τα άκρα των χειρών αυτών και τα άκρα των ποδών αυτών αποκεκομμένοι ήσαν συλλέγοντες τα υποκάτω της τραπέζης μου καθώς ουν εποίησα ούτως ανταπέδωκέ μοι ο θεός και ήγαγον αυτόν εις Ιερουσαλήμ και απέθανεν εκεί |
| 8And the children of Judas fought against Jerusalem, and took it, and smote with the edge of the sword, and they burnt the city with fire. | και επολέμησαν οι υιοί Ιούδα εν Ιερουσαλήμ και κατελάβοντο αυτήν και επάταξαν αυτήν εν στόματι ρομφαίας και την πόλιν ενέπρησαν εν πυρί |
| 9And afterwards the children of Judas went down to fight with the Chananite dwelling in the hill country, and the south, and the plain country. | και μετά ταύτα κατέβησαν οι υιοί Ιούδα πολεμήσαι εν τω Χαναναίω τω κατοικούντι την ορεινήν και τον νότον και την πεδινήν |
| 10And Judas went to the Chananite who dwelt in Chebron; and Chebron came out against him; and the name of Chebron before was Cariatharbocsepher: and they smote Sessi, and Achiman, and Tholmi, children of Enac. | και επορεύθη Ιούδας προς τον Χαναναίον τον κατοικούντα εν Χεβρών το δε όνομα Χεβρών ην το πρότερον Καριαθαρβώθ και επάταξαν τον Σεσί και Αχιμάν και τον Θολμί γεννήματα του Ενάκ |
| 11And they went up thence to the inhabitants of Dabir; but the name of Dabir was before Cariathsepher, the city of Letters. | και επορεύθησαν εκείθεν προς τους κατοικούντας Δαβίρ το δε όνομα της Δαβίρ ην έμπροσθεν Καριαθσεφαρ πόλις γραμμάτων |
| 12And Chaleb said, Whosoever shall smite the city of Letters, and shall first take it, I will give to him Ascha my daughter to wife. | και είπε Χαλέβ ος αν πατάξη την πόλιν των γραμμάτων και προκαταλάβηται αυτήν δώσω αυτώ την Αχσάν θυγατέρα μου εις γυναίκα |
| 13And Gothoniel the younger son of Kenez the brother of Chaleb took it; and Chaleb gave him his daughter Ascha to wife. | και προκατελάβετο αυτήν Γοθονιήλ υιός Κενέζ αδελφός Χαλέβ ο νεώτερος και έδωκεν αυτώ την Αχσάν θυγατέρα αυτού εις γυναίκα |
| 14And it came to pass as she went in, that Gothoniel urged her to ask a field of her father; and she murmured and cried from off her ass, Thou hast sent me forth into a south land: and Chaleb said to her, What is thy request? | και εγένετο εν τω εισπορεύεσθαι αυτήν και επέσεισεν αυτήν του αιτήσαι παρά του πατρός αυτής αγρόν και εγόγγυζε επάνω του υποζυγίου και είπεν αυτή Χαλέβ τι εστί σοι |
| 15And Ascha said to him, Give me, I pray thee, a blessing, for thou hast sent me forth into a south land, and thou shalt give me the ransom of water: and Chaleb gave her according to her heart the ransom of the upper springs and the ransom of the low springs. | και είπεν αυτώ Αχσάν δος δη μοι ευλογίαν ότι εις γην νότου εκδέδοσαί με και δώσεις μοι λύτρωσιν ύδατος και έδωκεν αυτή Χαλέβ λύτρωσιν μετεώρων και λύτρωσιν ταπείνων |
| 16And the children of Jothor the Kenite the father-in-law of Moses went up from the city of palm-trees with the children of Judas, to the wilderness that is in the south of Juda, which is at the descent of Arad, and they dwelt with the people. | και οι υιοί Ιωθώρ του Κιναίου πενθερού Μωυσή ανέβησαν εκ της πόλεως των φοινίκων προς τους υιούς Ιούδα εις την έρημον Ιούδα την ούσαν εν τω νότω επί καταβάσεως Αράδ και επορεύθησαν και κατώκησαν μετά του λαού |
| 17And Judas went with Symeon his brother, and smote the Chananite that inhabited Sepheth, and they utterly destroyed them; and they called the name of the city Anathema. | και επορεύθη Ιούδας μετά Συμεών του αδελφού αυτού και επάταξαν τον Χαναναίον τον κατοικούντα Σεφέθ και ανεθεμάτισαν αυτήν και εξωλόθρευσεν αυτήν και εκάλεσαν το όνομα της πόλεως εξολόθρευσις |
| 18But Judas did not inherit Gaza nor her coasts, nor Ascalon nor her coasts, nor Accaron nor her coasts, nor Azotus nor the lands around it. | και εκληρονόμησεν Ιούδας την Γάζαν και το όριον αυτής και την Ακκαρών και το όριον αυτής και την Ασκάλωνα και το ορια αυτής και την Άζωτον και τα περισπόρια αυτής |
| 19And the Lord was with Judas, and he inherited the mountain; for they were not able to destroy the inhabitants of the valley, for Rechab prevented them. | και ην κύριος μετά Ιούδα και εκληρονόμησε το όρος ότι ουκ ηδύνατο κληρονομήσαι τους κατοικούντας την κοιλάδα ότι διεστείλατο αυτοίς και άρματα σιδηρά αυτοίς |
| 20And they gave Chebron to Chaleb, as Moses said; and thence he inherited the three cities of the children of Enac. | και έδωκαν τω Χαλέβ την Χεβρών καθά ελάλησε Μωυσής και εξήρεν εκεί τους τρεις υιούς Ενάκ |
| 21But the children of Benjamin did not take the inheritance of the Jebusite who dwelt in Jerusalem; and the Jebusite dwelt with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem until this day. | και τον Ιεβουσαίον τον κατοικούντα Ιερουσαλήμ ουκ εξήραν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν και κατώκησεν ο Ιεβουσαίος μετά των υιών Βενιαμίν εν Ιερουσαλήμ έως της ημέρας ταύτης |
| 22And the sons of Joseph, they also went up to Baethel; and the Lord was with them. | και ανέβησαν οι υιοί Ιωσήφ και γε αυτοί εις Βαιθήλ και κύριος ην μετ΄ αυτών |
| 23And they encamped and surveyed Baethel: and the name of the city before was Luza. | και παρενέβαλον και κατεσκέψαντο Βαιθήλ το δε όνομα της πόλεως ην έμπροσθεν Λουζά |
| 24And the spies looked, and behold, a man went out of the city, and they took him; and they said to him, Shew us the way into the city, and we will deal mercifully with thee. | και είδον οι φυλάσσοντες άνδρα εκπορευόμενον εκ της πόλεως και έλαβον αυτόν και είπον αυτώ δείξον ημίν την είσοδον της πόλεως και ποιήσομεν μετά σου έλεος |
| 25And he shewed them the way into the city; and they smote the city with the edge of the sword; but they let go the man and his family. | και έδειξεν αυτοίς την είσοδον της πόλεως και επάταξαν την πόλιν εν στόματι ρομφαίας τον δε άνδρα και την συγγένειαν αυτού εξαπέστειλαν |
| 26And the man went into the land of Chettin, and built there a city, and called the name of it Luza; this is its name until this day. | και απήλθεν ο ανήρ εις γην Χεττίν και ωκοδόμησεν εκεί πόλιν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτής Λουζά τούτο όνομα αυτής έως της ημέρας ταύτης |
| 27And Manasse did not drive out the inhabitants of Baethsan, which is a city of Scythians, nor her towns, nor her suburbs; nor Thanac, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitant of Balac, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Magedo, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; nor the inhabitants of Jeblaam, nor her suburbs, nor her towns; and the Chananite began to dwell in this land. | και ουκ εξήρε Μανασσή την Βαιθσάν ουδέ τας θυγατέρας αυτής ουδέ Θανάκ και τας θυγατέρας αυτής ουδέ τους κατοικούντας Δωρ και τας θυγατέρας αυτής ουδέ τους κατοικούντας Μαγεδδών και τας θυγατέρας αυτής ουδέ τους κατοικούντας Ιεβλάμ ουδέ τας θυγατέρας αυτής και ήρξατο ο Χαναναίος κατοικείν εν τη γη ταύτη |
| 28And it came to pass when Israel was strong, that he made the Chananite tributary, but did not utterly drive them out. | και εγένετο ότε ενίσχυσεν Ισραήλ και έθετο τον Χαναναίον εις φόρον και εξαίρων ουκ εξήρεν αυτόν |
| 29And Ephraim did not drive out the Chananite that dwelt in Gazer; and the Chananite dwelt in the midst of him in Gazer, and became tributary. | και Εφραϊμ ουκ εξήρε τον Χαναναίον τον κατοικούντα εν Γαζέρ και κατώκει ο Χαναναίος εν μέσω αυτού εν Γαζέρ |
| 30And Zabulon did not drive out the inhabitants of Kedron, nor the inhabitants of Domana: and the Chananite dwelt in the midst of them, and became tributary to them. | και Ζαβουλών ουκ εξήρε τους κατοικούντας Κετρών και τους κατοικούντας Νααλώλ και κατώκησεν ο Χαναναίος εν μέσω αυτών και εγένετο εις φόρον |
| 31And Aser did not drive out the inhabitants of Accho, and that people became tributary to him, nor the inhabitants of Dor, nor the inhabitants of Sidon, nor the inhabitants of Dalaph, nor Aschazi, nor Chebda, nor Nai, nor Ereo. | και Ασήρ ουκ εξήρε τους κατοικούντας Ακχώ και τους κατοικούντας Σιδώνα και τους κατοικούντας Αχλάβ και την Αχαζίβ και την Ελβά και την Αφέκ και την Ροώβ |
| 32And Aser dwelt in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land, for he could not drive him out. | και κατώκησεν ο Ασήρ εν μέσω του Χαναναίου του κατοικούντος την γην ότι ουκ ηδυνήθη εξάραι αυτόν |
| 33And Nephthali did not drive out the inhabitants of Baethsamys, nor the inhabitants of Baethanach; and Nephthali dwelt in the midst of the Chananite who inhabited the land: but the inhabitants of Bethsamys and of Baetheneth became tributary to them. | και Νεφθαλί ουκ εξήρε τους κατοικούντας Βεθσαμής και τους κατοικούντας Βεθανάχ και κατώκησε Νεφθαλί εν μέσω του Χαναναίου του κατοικούντος την γην οι δε κατοικούντες Βαιθσαμής και την Βαιθενέθ εγένοντο αυτοίς εις φόρον |
| 34And the Amorite drove out the children of Dan into the mountains, for they did not suffer them to come down into the valley. | και εξέθλιψεν ο Αμορραίος τους υιούς Δαν εις το όρος ότι ουκ αφήκαν αυτόν καταβήναι εις την κοιλάδα |
| 35And the Amorite began to dwell in the mountain of shells, in which are bears, and foxes, in Myrsinon, and in Thalabin; and the hand of the house of Joseph was heavy upon the Amorite, and he became tributary to them. | και ήρξατο ο Αμορραίος κατοικείν εν τω όρει τω Άρες ου αι άρκοι και αι αλώπεκες και εβαρύνθη η χειρ οίκου Ιωσήφ επί τον Αμορραίον και εγένετο εις φόρον |
| 36And the border of the Amorite was from the going up of Acrabin, from the rock and upwards. | και το όριον του Αμορραίου από της αναβάσεως Ακραβίν από της πέτρας και επάνω |
Chapter 2[edit]
| 1And an angel of the Lord went up from Galgal to the place of weeping, and to Baethel, and to the house of Israel, and said to them, Thus says the Lord, I brought you up out of Egypt, and I brought you into the land which I sware to your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant that I have made with you. | και ανέβη άγγελος κυρίου από Γαλγάλ επί τον Κλαυθμώνα και είπε προς αυτούς κύριος ανεβίβασεν υμάς εξ Αιγύπτου και εισήγαγεν υμάς εις την γην ην ώμοσεν τοις πατράσιν υμών του δούναι υμίν και είπεν ου διασκεδάσω την διαθήκην μου μεθ΄ υμών εις τον αιώνα |
| 2And ye shall make no covenant with them that dwell in this land, neither shall ye worship their gods; but ye shall destroy their graven images, ye shall pull down their altars: but ye hearkened not to my voice, for ye did these things. | και υμείς ου διαθήσεσθε διαθήκην τοις εγκαθημένοις εις την γην ταύτην ουδέ τοις θεοίς αυτών ου προσκυνήσετε αλλά τα γλυπτά αυτών συντρίψατε και τα θυσιαστήρια αυτών κατασκάψατε και ουκ εισηκούσατε της φωνής μου ούτε ταύτα εποιήσατε |
| 3And I said, I will not drive them out from before you, but they shall be for a distress to you, and their gods shall be to you for an offence. | καγώ είπα ου εξάρω αυτούς εκ προσώπου υμών και έσονται υμίν εις συνοχάς και οι θεοί αυτών έσονται υμίν εις σκάνδαλον |
| 4And it came to pass when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept. | και εγένετο ως ελάλησεν ο άγγελος κυρίου τους λόγους τούτους προς πάντας υιούς Ισραήλ και επήραν ο λαός την φωνήν αυτών και έκλαυσαν |
| 5And they named the name of that place Weepings; and they sacrificed there to the Lord. | δια τούτο εκλήθη το όνομα του τόπου εκείνου Κλαυθμών και έθυσαν εκεί τω κυρίω |
| 6And Joshua dismissed the people, and they went every man to his inheritance, to inherit the land. | και εξαπέστειλεν Ιησούς τον λαόν και απήλθον οι υιοί Ισραήλ έκαστος εις τον τόπον αυτού και εις την κληρονομίαν αυτού κατακληρονομήσαι την γην |
| 7And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that lived many days with Joshua, as many as knew all the great work of the Lord, what things he had wrought in Israel. | και εδούλευσεν ο λαός τω κυρίω πάσας τας ημέρας Ιησού και πάσας τας ημέρας των πρεσβυτέρων όσοι εμακροημέρευσαν μετά Ιησούν όσοι έγνωσαν παν το έργον κυρίου το μέγα ο εποίησεν τω Ισραήλ |
| 8And Joshua the son of Naue, the servant of the Lord, died, a hundred and ten years old. | και ετελεύτησεν ο Ιησούς υιός Ναυή δούλος κυρίου υιός εκατόν δέκα ετών |
| 9And they buried him in the border of his inheritance, in Thamnathares, in mount Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaas. | και έθαψαν αυτόν εν ορίω της κληρονομίας αυτού εν Θαμναθαρές εν όρει Εφραϊμ από βορρά του όρους Γαάς |
| 10And all that generation were laid to their fathers: and another generation rose up after them, who knew not the Lord, nor yet the work which he wrought in Israel. | και γε πάσα η γενεά εκείνη προσετέθησαν προς τους πατέρας αυτών και ανέστη γενεά ετέρα μετ΄ αυτούς οι ουκ έγνωσαν τον κύριον και γε το έργον ο εποίησε τω Ισραήλ |
| 11And the children of Israel wrought evil before the Lord, and served Baalim. | και εποίησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ το πονηρόν εναντίον κυρίου και ελάτρευσαν τοις Βααλίμ |
| 12And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and walked after other gods, of the gods of the nations round about them; and they worshipped them. | και εγκατέλιπον κύριον τον θεόν των πατέρων αυτών τον εξαγαγόντα αυτούς εκ γης Αιγύπτου και επορεύθησαν οπίσω θεών ετέρων από των θεών των λαών των περικύκλω αυτών και προσεκύνησαν αυτούς και παρώργισαν τον κύριον |
| 13And they provoked the Lord, and forsook him, and served Baal and the Astartes. | και εγκατέλιπον τον κύριον και ελάτρευσαν τη Βαάλ και ταις Αστάρταις |
| 14And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and he gave them into the hands of the spoilers, and they spoiled them; and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, and they could not any longer resist their enemies, | και ωργίσθη θυμώ κύριος εν τω Ισραήλ και παρέδωκεν αυτούς εν χειρί προνομευόντων και κατεπρονόμευσαν αυτούς και απέδοτο αυτούς εν χειρί των εχθρών αυτών κυκλόθεν και ουκ ηδυνήθησαν αντιστήναι κατά πρόσωπον των εχθρών αυτών |
| 15among whomsoever they went; and the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord spoke, and as the Lord sware to them; and he greatly afflicted them. | εν πάσιν οις επορεύοντο και χειρ κυρίου ην εν αυτούς εις κακά καθώς ελάλησε κύριος και καθώς ώμοσε κύριος αυτοίς και εξέθλιψεν αυτούς σφόδρα |
| 16And the Lord raised up judges, and the Lord save them out of the hands of them that spoiled them: and yet they hearkened not to the judges, | και ήγειρε κύριος κριτάς και έσωσεν αυτούς κύριος εκ χειρός των προνομευόντων αυτούς και των κριτών αυτών ουχ υπήκουσαν |
| 17for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them; and they turned quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked to hearken to the words of the Lord; they did not so. | ότι εξεπόρνευσαν οπίσω θεών ετέρων και προσεκύνησαν αυτοίς και παρώργισαν τον κύριον και εξέκλιναν ταχύ εκ της οδού ης επορεύθησαν οι πατέρες αυτών του εισακούειν τας εντολάς κυρίου ουκ εποίησαν ούτως |
| 18And because the Lord raised them up judges, so the Lord was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved at their groaning by reason of them that besieged them and afflicted them. | και ότε ήγειρε κύριος αυτοίς κριτάς και ην κύριος μετά του κριτού και έσωσεν αυτούς εκ χειρός εχθρών αυτών πάσας τας ημέρας του κριτού ότι παρεκλήθη κύριος από του στεναγμού αυτών από προσώπου των πολιορκούντων αυτούς και κακούντων αυτούς |
| 19And it came to pass when the judge died, that they went back, and again corrupted themselves worse than their fathers to go after other gods to serve them an to worship them: they abandoned not their devices nor their stubborn ways. | και εγένετο ως απέθνησκεν ο κριτής και απέστρεφον και πάλιν διέφθειραν υπέρ τους πατέρας αυτών πορευθήναι οπίσω θεών ετέρων και λατρεύειν αυτοίς και προσκυνείν αυτοίς ουκ απέρριψαν τα επιτηδεύματα αυτών και από της οδού αυτών της σκληράς |
| 20And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and said, Forasmuch as this nation has forsaken my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not hearkened to my voice, | και ωργίσθη θυμώ κύριος εν τω Ισραήλ και είπεν ανθ΄ όσα εγκάτελιπε το έθνος τούτο την διαθήκην μου ην ενετειλάμην τοις πατράσιν αυτών και ουκ εισήκουσαν της φωνής μου |
| 21therefore I will not any more cast out a man of the nations before their face, which Joshua the son of Naue left in the land. And the Lord left them, | και εγώ ου προσθήσω του εξάραι άνδρα εκ προσώπου αυτών από των εθνών ων κατέλιπεν Ιησούς |
| 22to prove Israel with them, whether they would keep the way of the Lord, to walk in it, as their fathers kept it, or no. | και αφήκε του πειράσαι εν αυτώ τον Ισραήλ ει φυλάσσονται αυτοί την οδόν κυρίου πορεύεσθαι εν αυτή ον τρόπον εφύλαξαν οι πατέρες αυτών η ου |
| 23So the Lord will leave these nations, so as not to cast them out suddenly; and he delivered them not into the hand of Joshua. | και αφήκε κύριος τα έθνη ταύτα του μη εξάραι αυτά το τάχος και ου παρέδωκεν αυτά εν χειρί Ιησού |
Chapter 3[edit]
| 1And these are the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel with them, all that had not known the wars of Chanaan. | και ταύτα τα έθνη α αφήκε κύριος αυτά ώστε πειράσαι εν αυτοίς τον Ισραήλ πάντας τους μη εγνωκότας πάντας τους πολέμους Χαναάν |
| 2Only for the sake of the generations of Israel, to teach them war, only the men before them knew them not. | πλην διά τας γενεάς των υιών Ισραήλ του διδάξαι αυτούς πόλεμον πλην οι έμπροσθεν αυτών ουκ έγνωσαν αυτά |
| 3The five lordships of the Phylistines, and every Chananite, and the Sidonian, and the Evite who dwelt in Libanus from the mount of Aermon to Laboemath. | τας πέντε σατραπειάς των αλλοφύλων και πάντα τον Χαναναίον και τον Σιδώνιον και τον Ευαίον τον κατοικούντα τον Λίβανον από του όρους του Βαάλ έως Λαβώ |
| 4And this was done in order to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commands of the Lord, which he charged their fathers by the hand of Moses. | και εγένετο ώστε πειράσαι εν αυτοίς τον Ισραήλ γνώναι ει ακούσονται τας εντολάς κυρίου ας ενετείλατο τοις πατράσιν αυτών εν χειρί Μωυσή |
| 5And the children of Israel dwelt in the midst of the Chananite, and the Chettite, and the Amorite, and the Pherezite, and the Evite, and the Jebusite. | και οι υιοί Ισραήλ κατώκησαν εν μέσω του Χαναναίου και του Χετταίου και του Αμορραίου και του Φερεζαίου και του Ευαίου και του Ιεβουσαίου |
| 6And they took their daughters for wives to themselves, and they gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods. | και έλαβον τας θυγατέρας αυτών εαυτοίς εις γυναίκας και τας θυγατέρας αυτών έδωκαν τοις υιοίς αυτών και ελάτρευσαν τοις θεοίς αυτών |
| 7And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves. | και εποίησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ το πονηρόν εναντίον κυρίου και επελάθοντο κυρίου του θεού αυτών και ελάτρευσαν τοις Βααλίμ και τοις άλσεσι |
| 8And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hand of Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers: and the children of Israel served Chusarsathaim eight years. | και ωργίσθη θυμώ κύριος εν τω Ισραήλ και απέδοτο αυτούς εις χείρας Χουσανρεσαθαϊμ βασιλέως Συρίας Μεσοποταμίας και εδούλευσαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ τω αυτώ έτη οκτώ |
| 9And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and the Lord raised up a saviour to Israel, and he saved them, Gothoniel the son of Kenez, the brother of Chaleb younger than himself. | και εκέκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον και ήγειρε κύριος σωτήρα τω Ισραήλ και έσωσεν αυτούς τον Γοθονιήλ υιόν Κενέζ αδελφού Χαλέβ ο νεώτερος αυτού |
| 10And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war against Chusarsathaim: and the Lord delivered into his hand Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers, and his hand prevailed against Chusarsathaim. | και εγένετο επ΄ αυτόν πνεύμα κυρίου και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ και εξήλθεν επί τον πόλεμον και παρέδωκε κύριος εν χειρί αυτού τον Χουσανρεσαθαϊμ βασιλέα της Συρίας και εκραταιώθη η χειρ αυτού επί τον Χουσανρεσαθαϊμ |
| 11And the land was quiet forty years; and Gothoniel the son of Kenez died. | και ησύχασεν η γη τεσσαράκοντα έτη και απέθανε Γοθονιήλ υιός Κενέζ |
| 12And the children of Israel continued to do evil before the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglom king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil before the Lord. | και προσέθεντο οι υιοί Ισραήλ ποιήσαι το πονηρόν έναντι κυρίου και ενίσχυσε κύριος τον Εγλών βασιλέα Μωάβ επί τον Ισραήλ διά το πεποιηκέναι αυτούς το πονηρόν έναντι κυρίου |
| 13And he gathered to himself all the children of Ammon and Amalec, and went and smote Israel, and took possession of the city of Palm-trees. | και συνήγαγε προς εαυτόν πάντας τους υιούς Αμμών και Αμαλήκ και επορεύθη και επάταξε τον Ισραήλ και εκληρονόμησε την πόλιν των φοινίκων |
| 14And the children of Israel served Eglom the king of Moab eighteen years. | και εδούλευσαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ τω Εγλών βασιλεί Μωάβ δεκαοκτώ έτη |
| 15And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and he raised up to them a saviour, Aod the son of Gera a son of Jemeni, a man who used both hands alike: and the children of Israel sent gifts by his hand to Eglom king of Moab. | και εκέκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον και ήγειρεν κύριος αυτοίς σωτήρα τον Αώδ υιόν Γηρά υιόν του Ιεμινί άνδρα αμφοτεροδέξιον και απέστειλαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ δώρα εν χειρί αυτού τω Εγλών βασιλεί Μωάβ |
| 16And Aod made himself a dagger of two edges, of a span long, and he girded it under his cloak upon his right thigh. | και εποίησεν εαυτώ Αώδ μάχαιραν δίστομον σπιθαμής το μήκος αυτής και περιεζώσατο αυτήν υπό τον μανδύαν επί τον μηρόν τον δεξιόν αυτού |
| 17And he went, and brought the presents to Eglom king of Moab, and Eglom was a very handsome man. | και προσήνεγκε τα δώρα τω Εγλών βασιλεί Μωάβ και Εγλών ανήρ αστείος σφόδρα |
| 18And it came to pass when Aod had made an end of offering his gifts, that he dismissed those that brought the gifts. | και εγένετο ως συνετέλεσεν Αώδ προσφέρων τα δώρα και εξαπέστειλε τους αίροντας τα δώρα |
| 19And he himself returned from the quarries that are by Galgal; and Aod said, I have a secret errand to thee, O king! and Eglom said to him, Be silent: and he sent away from his presence all who waited upon him. | και υπέστρεψεν από των γλυπτών μετά της Γαλγάλ και είπεν Αώδ λόγος μοι κρυφίος προς σε βασιλεύ και είπεν Εγλών προς αυτόν σιώπα και εξήλθον αφ΄ αυτού πάντας οι παρεστηκότες αυτώ |
| 20And Aod went in to him; and he sat in his own upper summer chamber quite alone; and Aod said, I have a message from God to thee, O king: and Eglom rose up from his throne near him. | και Αώδ εισήλθε προς αυτόν και αυτός εκάθητο εν τω υπερώω τω θερινώ αυτού μονώτατος και είπεν Αώδ λόγος θεού μοι προς σε βασιλεύ και εξανέστη εκ του θρόνου Εγλών εγγύς αυτού |
| 21And it came to pass as he arose, that Aod stretched forth his left hand, and took the dagger off his right thigh, and plunged it into his belly; | και εγένετο άμα τω αναστήναι αυτόν και εξέτεινεν Αώδ την χείρα την αριστεράν αυτού και έλαβε την μάχαιραν από του μηρού αυτού του δεξιού και ενέπηξεν αυτήν εις την κοιλίαν Εγλών |
| 22and drove in also the haft after the blade, and the fat closed in upon the blade, for he drew not out the dagger from his belly. | και επεισήνεγκε και γε την λαβήν οπίσω της φλογός και απέκλεισε το στέαρ κατά της φλογός ότι ουκ εξέσπασε την μάχαιραν εκ της κοιλίας αυτού |
| 23And Aod went out to the porch, and passed out by the appointed guards, and shut the doors of the chamber upon him, and locked them. | και εξήλθεν Αώδ εις την προστάδα και εξήλθε τους διατεταγμένους και απέκλεισε τας θύρας του υπερώου επ΄ αυτόν και εσφήνωσε |
| 24And he went out: and Eglom's servants came, and saw, and behold, the doors of the upper chamber were locked; and they said, Does he not uncover his feet in the summer-chamber? | και αυτός εξήλθε και οι παίδες αυτού εισήλθον και είδον και ιδού αι θύραι του υπερώου εσφηνωμεναιω και είπαν μήποτε προς δίφρους κάθηται εν τη αποχωρήσει του κοιτώνος |
| 25And they waited till they were ashamed, and, behold, there was no one that opened the doors of the upper chamber; and they took the key, and opened them; and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead upon the earth. | και προσέμειναν αισχυνόμενοι και ιδού ουκ ην ο ανοίγων τας θύρας του υπερώου και έλαβον την κλείδα και ήνοιξαν και ιδού ο κυριός αυτών πεπτωκώς επί την γην τεθνηκώς |
| 26And Aod escaped while they were in a tumult, and no one paid attention to him; and he passed the quarries, and escaped to Setirotha. | και Αώδ διεσώθη έως εθορυβούντο και ουκ ην ο προσνοών αυτώ και αυτός παρήλθε τα γλυπτά και διεσώθη εις Σειρωθά |
| 27And it came to pass when Aod came into the land of Israel, that he blew the horn in mount Ephraim, and the children of Israel came down with him from the mountain, and he was before them. | και εγένετο ηνίκα ήλθεν και εσάλπισεν κερατίνη εν τω όρει Εφραϊμ και κατέβησαν συν αυτώ οι υιοί Ισραήλ από του όρους και αυτός έμπροσθεν αυτών |
| 28And he said to them, Come down after me, for the Lord God has delivered our enemies, even Moab, into our hand; and they went down after him, and seized on the fords of Jordan before Moab, and he did not suffer a man to pass over. | και είπε προς αυτούς κατάβητε οπίσω μου ότι παρέδωκε κύριος ο θεός τους εχθρούς ημών την Μωάβ εν χειρί ημών και κατέβησαν οπίσω αυτού και προκατελάβοντο τας διαβάσεις του Ιορδάνου της Μωάβ και ουκ αφήκαν άνδρα διαβήναι |
| 29And they smote Moab on that day about ten thousand men, every lusty person and every mighty man; and not a man escaped. | και επάταξαν την Μωάβ εν τω καιρώ εκείνω ωσεί δέκα χιλιάδας ανδρών πάντας τους μαχητάς και πάντα άνδρα δυνάμεως και ου διεσώθη ο ανήρ |
| 30So Moab was humbled in that day under the hand of Israel, and the land had rest eighty years; and Aod judged them till he died. | και ενετράπη Μωάβ εν τη ημέρα εκείνη υπό την χείρα Ισραήλ και ησύχασεν η γη ογδοήκοντα έτη |
| 31And after him rose up Samegar the son of Dinach, and smote the Philistines to the number of six hundred men with a ploughshare such as is drawn by oxen; and he too delivered Israel. | και μετ΄ αυτόν ανέστη Σαμεγάρ υιός Ανάθ και επάταξε τους αλλοφύλους εις εξακοσίους άνδρας εν τω αροτρόποδι των βοών και έσωσεν αυτος τον Ισραήλ |
Chapter 4[edit]
| 1And the children of Israel continued to do evil against the Lord; and Aod was dead. | και προσέθεντο οι υιοί Ισραήλ ποιήσαι το πονηρόν ενώπιον κυρίου και Αώδ απέθανε |
| 2And the Lord sold the children of Israel into the hand of Jabin king of Chanaan, who ruled in Asor; and the chief of his host was Sisara, and he dwelt in Arisoth of the Gentiles. | και απέδοτο αυτούς κύριος εν χειρί Ιαβίν βασιλέως Χαναάν ος εβασίλευσεν εν Ασώρ και ο άρχων της δυνάμεως αυτού Σισάρα και αυτός κατώκει εν Αρισώθ των εθνών |
| 3And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, because he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and he mightily oppressed Israel twenty years. | και εκέκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον ότι εννακόσια άρματα σιδηρά ην αυτώ και αυτός έθλιψε τον Ισραήλ κατά κράτος έικοσι έτη |
| 4And Debbora, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, —she judged Israel at that time. | και Δεββωρά γυνή προφήτις γυνή Λαφιδώθ αυτή έκρινε τον Ισραήλ εν τω καιρώ εκείνω |
| 5And she sat under the palm-tree of Debbora between Rama and Baethel in mount Ephraim; and the children of Israel went up to her for judgment. | και αυτή εκάθητο υπό φοίνικα Δεββωρά αναμέσον της Ράμα και αναμέσον της Βαιθήλ εν όρει Εφραϊμ και ανέβαινον προς αυτήν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εκεί του κρίνεσθαι |
| 6And Debbora sent and called Barac the son of Abineem out of Cades Nephthali, and she said to him, Has not the Lord God of Israel commanded thee? and thou shalt depart to mount Thabor, and shalt take with thyself ten thousand men of the sons of Nephthali and of the sons of Zabulon. | και απέστειλε Δεββωρά και εκάλεσε τον Βαράκ υιόν Αβινεέμ εκ Κάδης Νεφθαλί και είπε προς αυτόν ουχί ενετείλατο κύριος ο θεός Ισραήλ σοι και απελεύση εις όρος Θαβώρ και λήψη μετά σεαυτού δέκα χιλιάδας ανδρών από των υιών Νεφθαλί και από των υιών Ζαβουλών |
| 7And I will bring to thee to the torrent of Kison Sisara the captain of the host of Jabin, and his chariots, and his multitude, and I will deliver them into thine hands. | και επάξω προς σε εις τον χειμάρρουν Κισών τον Σισάρα άρχοντα της δυνάμεως Ιαβίν και τα άρματα αυτού και το πλήθος αυτού και παραδώσω αυτόν εν τη χειρί σου |
| 8And Barac said to her, If thou wilt go with me, I will go; and if thou wilt not go, I will not go; for I know not the day on which the Lord prospers his messenger with me. | και είπε προς αυτήν Βαράκ εάν πορευθής μετ΄ εμού πορεύσομαι και εάν μη πορευθής ου πορεύσομαι |
| 9And she said, I will surely go with thee; but know that thy honour shall not attend on the expedition on which thou goest, for the Lord shall sell Sisara into the hands of a women: and Debbora arose, and went with Barac out of Cades. | και είπε προς αυτόν Δεββωρά πορευομένη πορεύσομαι μετά σου πλην γίνωσκε ότι ουκ έσται το προτέρημά σου επί την οδόν ην συ πορεύη ότι εν χειρί γυναικός αποδώσεται κύριος τον Σισάρα και ανέστη Δεββωρά και επορεύθη μετά του Βαράκ εκ Κάδης |
| 10And Barac called Zabulon and Nephthali out of Cades, and there went up at his feet ten thousand men, and Debbora went up with him. | και παρήγγειλε Βαράκ τω Ζαβουλών και τω Νεφθαλί εις Καδές και ανέβησαν κατά πόδας αυτού δέκα χιλιάδες ανδρών και ανέβη Δεββωρά μετ΄ αυτού |
| 11And Chaber the Kenite had removed from Caina, from the sons of Jobab the father-in-law of Moses, and pitched his tent by the oak of the covetous ones, which is near Kedes. | και οι πλησίον του Κιναίου εχωρίσθησαν από Κενά από των υιών Οβάβ γαμβρού Μωυσή και έπηξε την σκηνήν αυτού έως δρυός αναπαυομένων η εστιν εχόμενα Κεδές |
| 12And it was told Sisara that Barac the son of Abineem was gone up to mount Thabor. | και ανήγγελη τω Σισάρα ότι ανέβη Βαράκ υιός Αβινεέμ επ΄ όρος Θαβώρ |
| 13And Sisara summoned all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron and all the people with him, from Arisoth of the Gentiles to the brook of Kison. | και εκάλεσε Σισάρα πάντα τα άρματα αυτού εννακόσια άρματα σιδηρά και πάντα τον λαόν τον μετ΄ αυτού από Αρισώθ των εθνών εις τον χειμάρρουν Κισών |
| 14And Debbora said to Barac, Rise up, for this is the day on which the Lord has delivered Sisara into thy hand, for the Lord shall go forth before thee: and Barac went down from mount Thabor, and ten thousand men after him. | και είπε Δεββωρά προς Βαράκ ανάστηθι ότι αύτη η ημέρα εν η παρέδωκε κύριος τον Σισάρα εν χειρί σου ουκ ιδού κύριος ελεύσεται έμπροσθέν σου και κατέβη Βαράκ από του όρους Θαβώρ και δέκα χιλιάδες ανδρών οπίσω αυτού |
| 15And the Lord discomfited Sisara, and all his chariots, and all his army, with the edge of the sword before Barac: and Sisara descended from off his chariot, and fled on his feet. | και εξέστησε κύριος τον Σισάρα και πάντα τα άρματα αυτού και πάσαν την παρεμβολήν αυτού εν στόματι ρομφαίας ενώπιον Βαράκ και κατέβη Σισάρα επάνωθεν του άρματος αυτού και έφυγε τοις ποσίν αυτού |
| 16And Barac pursued after the chariots and after the army, into Arisoth of the Gentiles; and the whole army of Sisara fell by the edge of the sword, there was not one left. | και Βαράκ διώκων οπίσω των αρμάτων και οπίσω της παρεμβολής έως δρυμού των εθνών και έπεσε πάσα παρεμβολή Σισάρας εν στόματι ρομφαίας ου κατελείφθη έως ενός |
| 17And Sisara fled on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Chaber the Kenite his friend: for there was peace between Jabin king of Asor and the house of Chaber the Kenite. | και Σισάρα ανεχώρησε τοις ποσίν αυτού εις σκηνήν Ιαήλ γυναικός Χαβέρ του Κιναίου ότι ειρήνη ην αναμέσον Ιαβίν βασιλέως Ασώρ και αναμέσον του οίκου Χαβέρ του Κιναίου |
| 18And Jael went, out to meet Sisara, and said to him, Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me, fear not: and he turned aside to her into the tent; and she covered him with a mantle. | και εξήλθεν Ιαήλ εις απάντησιν Σισάρα και είπεν αυτώ έκνευσον κύριέ μου έκνευσον προς με μη φοβού και εξένευσεν προς αυτήν εις την σκηνήν και συνεκάλυψεν αυτόν εν τη δερρεί αυτής |
| 19And Sisara said to her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink, for I am thirsty: and she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him to drink, and covered him. | και είπε Σισάρα προς αυτήν πότισον δη μοι μικρόν ύδωρ ότι εδίψησα και ήνοιξε τον ασκόν του γάλακτος και επότισεν αυτόν και συνεκάλυψεν το πρόσωπον αυτού |
| 20And Sisara said to her, Stand now by the door of the tent, and it shall come to pass if any man come to thee, and ask of thee, and say, Is there any man here? then thou shalt say, There is not. | και είπε προς αυτήν στήθι εν τη θύρα της σκηνής και έσται εάν τις έλθη προς σε και ερωτήση σε και είπη σοι έστιν ενταύθα ανήρ και ερείς ουκ έστι |
| 21And Jael the wife of Chaber took a pin of the tent, and took a hammer in her hand, and went secretly to him, and fastened the pin in his temple, and it went through to the earth, and he fainted away, and darkness fell upon him and he died. | και έλαβεν Ιαήλ γυνή Χαβέρ τον πάσσαλον της σκηνής και έθηκε την σφύραν εν τη χειρί αυτής και εισήλθε προς αυτόν ησυχή και ενέκρουσε τον πάσσαλον εν τη γνάθω αυτου και διήλασεν εν τη γη και αυτός εξεστώς εσκοτώθη και απέθανε |
| 22And, behold, Barac was pursuing Sisara: and Jael went out to meet him, and he said to him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest: and he went in to her; and, behold, Sisara was fallen dead, and the pin was in his temple. | και ιδού Βαράκ διώκων τον Σισάρα και εξήλθεν Ιαήλ εις απάντησιν αυτού και είπεν αυτώ δεύρο και δείξω σοι τον άνδρα ον συ ζητείς και εισήλθε προς αυτήν και ιδού Σισάρα πεπτωκώς νεκρός και ο πάσσαλος εν τω κροταφω αυτού |
| 23So God routed Jabin king of Chanaan in that day before the children of Israel. | και εταπείνωσεν ο θεός εν τη ημέρα εκείνη τον Ιαβίν βασιλέα Χαναάν ενώπιον των υιών Ισραήλ |
| 24And the hand of the children of Israel prevailed more and more against Jabin king of Chanaan, until they utterly destroyed Jabin king of Chanaan. | και επορεύετο χειρ των υιών Ισραήλ πορευομένη και σκληρυνομένη επί Ιαβίν βασιλέα Χαναάν έως ου εξωλόθρευσαν αυτόν |

| 3Hear, ye kings, and hearken, rulers: I will sing, it is I who will sing to the Lord, it is I, I will sing a psalm to the Lord the god of Israel. | ακούσατε βασιλείς ενωτίζεσθε σατράπαι εγώ τω κυρίω άσομαι και ψαλώ τω θεώ Ισραήλ |
| 4O Lord, in thy going forth on Seir, when thou wentest forth out of the land of Edom, the earth quaked and the heaven dropped dews, and the clouds dropped water. | κύριε ει τη εξόδω σου εκ Σειρ εν τω απαίρειν σε εξ αγρού Εδώμ γη εσείσθη και γε ο ουρανός εταράχθη και αι νεφέλαι έσταξαν ύδωρ |
| 5The mountains were shaken before the face of the Lord Eloi, this Sina before the face of the Lord God of Israel. | όρη εσαλεύθησαν από προσώπου κυρίου τούτο Σινά από προσώπου κυρίου θεού Ισραήλ |
| 6In the days of Samegar son of Anath, in the days of Jael, they deserted the ways, and went in by-ways; they went in crooked paths. | εν ημέραις Σαμεγάρ υιόυ Ανάθ εν ημέραις Ιαήλ εξέλιπον οδούς και επορεύθησαν ατραπούς επορεύθησαν οδούς διεστραμμένας |
| 7The mighty men in Israel failed, they failed until Debbora arose, until she arose a mother in Israel. | εξέλιπον οι κατοικούντες εν τω Ισραήλ εξέλιπον έως ου ανέστη Δεββωρά ότι ανέστη μήτηρ εν Ισραήλ |
| 8They chose new gods; then the cities of rulers fought; there was not a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel. | ηρέτισαν θεούς καινούς τότε επολέμησαν πόλεις αρχόντων σκέπη νεανίδων σειρομάστων οφθή και σειρομάστης τεσσαράκοντα χιλιάσιν εν τω Ισραήλ |
| 9My heart inclines to the orders given in Israel; ye that are willing among the people, bless the Lord. | η καρδία μου επί τα διατεταγμένα τω Ισραήλ οι δυνάσται του λαού ευλογείτε τον κύριον |
| 10Ye that mount a she-ass at noon-day, ye that sit on the judgment-seat, and walk by the roads of them that sit in judgment by the way; declare | επιβεβηκότες επί υποζυγίων επί λαμπηνών καθήμενοι επί κριτηρίου και πορευόμενοι εφ΄ οδώ φθέγξασθε |
| 11ye that are delivered from the noise of disturbers among the drawers of water; there shall they relate righteous acts: O Lord, increase righteous acts in Israel: then the people of the Lord went down to the cities. | φωνήν ανακρουομένων αναμέσον ευφραινομένων εκεί δώσουσι δικαιοσύνην κυρίω δικαιοσύνας ενίσχυσον εν τω Ισραήλ τότε κατέβη εις τας πόλεις αυτού ο λαός κυρίου |

| 14Ephraim rooted them out in Amalec, behind thee was Benjamin among thy people: the inhabitants of Machir came down with me searching out the enemy, and from Zabulon came they that draw with the scribe's pen of record. | Εφραϊμ εξερρίζωσεν αυτούς εν τω Αμαλήκ οπίσω σου Βενιαμίν εν τοις λαοίς σου εξ εμού Μαχείρ κατέβησαν εξερευνώντες και εκ Ζαβουλών ενισχυόντες εν σκήπτρω διηγήσεως γραμματέως |
| 15And princess in Issachar were with Debbora and Barac, thus she sent Barac on his feet in the valleys into the portions of Ruben; great pangs reached to the heart. | και άρχοντες εν Ισσάχαρ μετά Δεβώρρας και Ισσάχαρ ούτω Βαράκ εν τη κοιλάδι εξαπέστειλεν πεζούς αυτού εν διαιρέσεσιν Ρουβήν μεγάλοι ακριβασμοί καρδίας |

| 17Galaad is on the other side of Jordan where he pitched his tents; and why does Dan remain in ships? | 18The people Zabulon exposed their soul to death, and Nephthali came to the high places of their land. | Ζαβουλών λαός ονειδίσας ψυχήν αυτού εις θάνατον και Νεφθαλί επί ύψη αγρού |
| 19Kings set themselves in array, then the kings of Chanaan fought in Thanaach at the water of Mageddo; they took no gift of money. | ήλθον βασιλείς και παρετάξαντο τότε επολέμησαν βασιλείς Χαναάν εν Τεννάχ επί του ύδατος Μαγεδδώ πλεονεξίαν αργυρίου ουκ έλαβον |
| 20The stars from heaven set themselves in array, they set themselves to fight with Sisara out of their paths. | εκ του ουρανού παρετάξαντο οι αστέρες εκ της τάξεως αυτών παρετάξαντο μετά Σισάρα |
| 21The brook of Kison swept them away, the ancient brook, the brook Kison: my mighty soul will trample him down. | χειμάρρους Κισών εξέβαλεν αυτούς χειμάρρους Καδημίμ χειμάρρους Κισών καταπατήσει αυτούς ψυχή μου δυνατή |
| 22When the hoofs of the horse were entangled, his mighty ones earnestly hasted | τότε ενεπόδισθησαν πτέρναι ίππων σπουδή εσπεύσαν ισχυροί αυτού |
| 23to curse Meroz: Curse ye it, said the angel of the Lord; cursed is every one that dwells in it, because they came not to the help of the Lord, to his help among the mighty. | καταράσθε Μηρώζ είπεν ο άγγελος κυρίου καταράσει καταράσασθε πας ο κατοικών αυτήν ότι ουκ ήλθον εις την βοήθειαν κυρίου κύριος βοηθός εν μαχηταίς |
| 24Blessed among women be Jael wife of Chaber the Kenite; let her be blessed above women in tents. | ευλογηθείη εκ γυναικών Ιαήλ γυνή Χαβέρ του Κιναίου από γυναικών εν σκηνή ευλογηθείη |
| 25He asked for water, she gave him milk in a dish; she brought butter of princes. | ύδωρ ήτησεν αυτήν και γάλα έδωκεν αυτώ εν λεκάνη ισχυρών προσήγγισε βούτυρον |
| 26She stretched forth her left hand to the nail, and her right to the hand workman's hammer, and she smote Sisara with it, she nailed through his head and smote him; she nailed through his temples. | την χείρα αυτής εις πάσσαλον εξέτεινε και δεξιάν αυτής εις σφύραν κοπιώντων και εσφυροκόπησε Σισάρα διήλωσε κεφαλήν αυτού και επάταξε διήλωσε κρόταφον αυτού |
| 27He rolled down between her feet; he fell and lay between her feet; he bowed and fell: where he bowed, there he fell dead. | αναμέσον των ποδών αυτής συγκύψας έπεσε εκοιμήθη μεταξύ ποδών αυτής έκαμψεν έπεσεν εν ω έκαμψεν εκεί έπεσεν ταλαιπώρως |
| 28The mother of Sisara looked down through the window out of the loophole, saying, Why was his chariot ashamed? why did the wheels of his chariots tarry? | διά της θυρίδος διέκυπτε και κατεμάνθανεν η μήτηρ Σισάρα διά της δικτυωτής διάτι ησχάτισε το άρμα αυτού παραγενέσθαι διατί εχρόνισαν ίχνη αρμάτων αυτού |
| 29Her wise ladies answered her, and she returned answers to herself, saying, | σοφαί αρχουσών αυτής ανταπεκρίναντο προς αυτήν και αυτή απέστρεψε λόγους αυτής εαυτή |
| 30Will they not find him dividing the spoil? he will surely be gracious to every man: there are spoils of dyed garments for Sisara, spoils of various dyed garments, dyed embroidered garments, they are the spoils for his neck. | ουχί ευρήσουσιν αυτόν διαμερίζοντα σκύλα φιλιάζως φίλοις εις κεφαλήν δυνατού σκύλα βαμμάτων τω Σισάρα σκύλα βαμμάτων ποικιλίας βαφή βάμματα ποικιλτών τω τραχήλω αυτού σκύλα |
| 31Thus let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: and they that love him shall be as the going forth of the sun in his strength. | ούτως απόλοιντο πάντες οι εχθροί σου κύριε και οι αγαπώντες αυτόν καθώς η ανατολή του ηλίου εν δυνάμει αυτού και ησύχασεν η γη τεσσαράκοντα έτη |

| 1And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord gave them into the hand of Madiam seven years. | και εποίησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ το πονηρόν έναντι κυρίου και παρέδωκεν αυτούς κύριος εν χειρί Μαδιάμ επτά έτη |
| 2And the hand of Madiam prevailed against Israel: and the children of Israel made for themselves because of Madiam the caves in the mountains, and the dens, and the holes in the rocks. | και κατίσχυσε χειρ Μαδιάμ επί Ισραήλ από προσώπου Μαδιάμ εποίησαν εαυτοίς οι υιοί Ισραήλ τας μάνδρας εν τοις όρεσι και τοις σπηλαίοις και τοις οχυρώμασι |
| 3And it came to pass when the children of Israel sowed, that Madiam and Amalec went up, and the children of the east went up together with them. | και εγένετο ότε έσπειρεν ανήρ Ισραήλ και ανέβαινε Μαδιάμ και Αμαλήκ και οι υιοί ανατολών ανέβαινον αυτοίς |
| 4And they encamped against them, and destroyed their fruits until they came to Gaza; and they left not the support of life in the land of Israel, not even ox or ass among the herds. | και παρενέβαλον επ΄ αυτούς και διέφθειραν τα εκφορια της γης έως του ελθείν εις Γάζαν και ουχ υπελείποντο υπόστασιν ζωής εν Ισραήλ και ποίμνιον και μόσχον και όνον |
| 5For they and their stock came up, and their tents were with them, as the locust in multitude, and there was no number to them and their camels; and they came to the land of Israel, and laid it waste. | ότι αυτοί και τα κτήνη αυτών ανέβαινον και τας σκηνάς αυτών παρέφερον και παρεγένοντο ως ακρίδες εις πλήθος και αυτοίς και ταις καμήλοις αυτών ουκ ην αριθμός και παρεγίνοντο εν τη γη Ισραήλ του διαφθείραι αυτήν |
| 6And Israel was greatly impoverished because of Madiam. | και επτώχευσεν Ισραήλ σφόδρα από προσώπου Μαδιάμ |
| 7And the children of Israel cried to the Lord because of Madiam. | και εκέκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον και εγένετο επεί εκέκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον διά Μαδιάμ |
| 8And the Lord sent a prophet to the children of Israel; and he said to them, Thus says the Lord God of Israel, I am he that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and I brought you up out of the house of your bondage. | εξαπέστειλε κύριος άνδρα προφήτην προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ και είπεν αυτοίς τάδε λέγει κύριος ο θεός Ισραήλ εγώ ειμι ο αναβιβάσας υμάς εξ Αιγύπτου και εξήγαγον υμάς εξ οίκου δουλείας |
| 9And I delivered you out of the hand of Egypt, and out of the hand of all that afflicted you, and I cast them out before you; and I gave you their land. | και εξειλάμην υμάς εκ χειρός Αιγύπτου και εκ χειρός πάντων των θλιβόντων υμάς και εξέβαλον αυτούς εκ προσώπου υμών και έδωκα υμίν την γην αυτών |
| 10And I said to you, I am the Lord your God: ye shall not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell; but ye hearkened not to my voice. | και είπα υμίν εγώ ειμι κύριος ο θεός υμών ου φοβηθήσεσθε τους θεούς του Αμορραίου εν οις υμείς κατοικείτε εν τη γη αυτών και ουκ εισηκούσατε της φωνής μου |
| 11And an angel of the Lord came, and sat down under the fir tree, which was in Ephratha in the land of Joas father of Esdri; and Gedeon his son was threshing wheat in a wine-press in order to escape from the face of Madiam. | και ήλθεν άγγελος κυρίου και εκάθισεν υπό την δρυν την ούσαν εν Εφρά την του Ιωάς πατρός του Εζρί και Γεδεών ο υιός αυτού εράβδιζε πυρούς εν ληνώ του εκφυγείν εκ προσώπου Μαδιάμ |
| 12And the angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty in strength. | και ώφθη αυτώ ο άγγελος κυρίου και είπε προς αυτόν κύριος μετά σου δυνατός τη ισχύϊ |
| 13And Gedeon said to him, Be gracious with me, my Lord: but if the Lord is with us, why have these evils found us? and where are all his miracles, which our fathers have related to us, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt? and now he has cast us out, and given us into the hand of Madiam. | και είπε προς αυτόν Γεδεών εν εμοί κύριέ μου και ει έστι κύριος μεθ΄ ημών και ινατί εύρεν ημάς πάντα τα κακά ταύτα και που εστί πάντα τα θαυμάσια αυτού όσα διηγήσαντο ημίν οι πατέρες ημών λέγοντες ουχί εξ Αιγύπτου ανήγαγεν ημάς κύριος και νυν απώσατο ημάς και παρέδωκεν ημάς εν χειρί Μαδιάμ |
| 14And the angel of the Lord turned to him, and said, Go in this thy strength, and thou shalt save Israel out of the hand of Madiam: behold, I have sent thee. | και επέβλεψε προς αυτόν ο άγγελος κυρίου και είπεν αυτώ πορεύου εν τη ισχύϊ σου ταύτη και σώσεις τον Ισραήλ ιδού εξαπέστειλά σε |
| 15And Gedeon said to him, Be gracious with me, my Lord: whereby shall I save Israel? behold, my thousand is weakened in Manasse, and I am the least in my father's house. | και είπε προς αυτόν Γεδεών εν εμοί κύριέ μου εν τίνι σώσω τον Ισραήλ ιδού η χιλιάς μου ταπεινότερα εν Μανασσή και εγώ ειμι μικρότερος εν οίκω του πατρός μου |
| 16And the angel of the Lord said to him, The Lord shall be with thee, and thou shalt smite Madiam as one man. | και είπε προς αυτόν κύριος ότι έσομαι μετά σου και πατάξεις την Μαδιάμ ωσεί άνδρα ένα |
| 17And Gedeon said to him, If now I have found mercy in thine eyes, and thou wilt do this day for me all that thou hast spoken of with me, | και είπε προς αυτόν Γεδεών και ει εύρον χάριν εν οφθαλμοίς σου και ποιήσεις μοι σημείον ότι συ λαλείς μετ΄ εμού |
| 18depart not hence until I come to thee, and I will bring forth an offering and offer it before thee: and he said, I will remain until thou return. | μη δη χωρισθής εντεύθεν έως του ελθείν με προς σε και οίσω την θυσίαν μου και θύσω ενώπιόν σου και είπεν εγώ ειμι καθήσομαι έως του επιστρέψαι σε |
| 19And Gedeon went in, and prepared a kid of the goats, and an ephah of fine flour unleavened; and he put the flesh in the basket, and poured the broth into the pot, and brought them forth to him under the turpentine tree, and drew nigh. | και Γεδεων εισήλθε και εποίησεν έριφον αιγών και οίφι αλεύρου άζυμα και τα κρέα έθηκεν επί το κανούν και τον ζωμόν ενέχεεν εις χύτραν και εξήνεγκεν προς αυτόν υπό την δρυν και προσεκύνησε |
| 20And the angel of God said to him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and put them on that rock, and pour out the broth close by: and he did so. | και είπε προς αυτόν ο άγγελος κυρίου λάβε τα κρέα και τους αζύμους και θες προς την πέτραν εκείνην και τον ζωμόν έκχεον και εποίησεν ούτως |
| 21And the angel of the Lord stretched out the end of the rod that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened bread; and fire came up out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened bread, and the angel of the Lord vanished from his sight. | και εξέτεινεν ο άγγελος κυρίου το άκρον της ράβδου της εν τη χειρί αυτού και ήψατο των κρεών και των αζύμων και ανήφθη πυρ εκ της πέτρας και κατέφαγε τα κρέα και τους αζύμους και ο άγγελος κυρίου απήλθεν απ΄ οφθαλμών αυτού |
| 22And Gedeon saw that he was an angel of the Lord; and Gedeon said, Ah, ah, Lord my God! for I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face. | και είδε Γεδεών ότι άγγελος κυρίου εστί και είπε Γεδεών οίμοι κύριέ μου κύριε ότι είδον τον άγγελον κυρίου πρόσωπον προς πρόσωπον |
| 23And the Lord said to him, Peace be to thee, fear not, thou shalt not die. | και είπεν αυτώ κύριος ειρήνη σοι μη φοβού ου αποθάνης |
| 24And Gedeon built there an altar to the Lord, and called it The peace of the Lord, until this day, as it is still inEphratha of the father of Esdri. | και ωκοδόμησεν εκεί Γεδεών θυσιαστήριον τω κυρίω και εκάλεσεν αυτό κυρίου ειρήνη έως της ημέρας ταύτης έτι αυτού όντος εν Εφραθά πατρός του Εζρί |
| 25And it came to pass in that night, that the Lord said to him, Take the young bullock which thy father has, even the second bullock of seven years old, and thou shalt destroy the altar of Baal which thy father has, and the grove which is by itthou shalt destroy. | και εγενήθη εν τη νυκτί εκείνη και είπεν αυτώ κύριος λάβε τον μόσχον τον σιτευτόν του πατρός σου και τον μόσχον δεύτερον επταετή και καθελείς το θυσιαστήριον του Βαάλ ο εστι του πατρός σου και το άλσος το επ΄ αυτό εκκόψεις |
| 26And thou shalt build an altar to the Lord thy God on the top of this Maozi in the orderingit, and thou shalt take the second bullock, and shalt offer up whole-burnt-offerings with the wood of the grove, which thou shalt destroy. | και οικοδομήσεις θυσιαστήριον τω κυρίω τω θεώ σου τω οφθέντι σοι επί της κορυφής του όρους Μαώζ τούτου εν τη παρατάξει και λήψη συν τω μόσχω τω δευτέρω και ανοίσεις ολοκαυτώματα εν τοις ξύλοις του άλσους ου εκκόψεις |
| 27And Gedeon took ten men of his servants, and did as the Lord spoke to him: and it came to pass, as he feared the house of his father and the men of the city if he should do it by day, that he did it by night. | και έλαβε Γεδεών δέκα άνδρας από των δούλων αυτού και εποίησεν καθά ελάλησε προς αυτόν κύριος και εγένετο ως εφοβήθη τον οίκον του πατρός αυτού και τους άνδρας της πόλεως του μη ποιήσαι ημέρας και εποίησε νυκτός |
| 28And the men of the city rose up early in the morning; and behold, the altar of Baal had been demolished, and the grove by it had been destroyed; and they saw the second bullock, which Gedeon offered on the altar that had been built. | και ώρθρισαν οι άνδρες της πόλεως τοπρωϊ και ιδού κατεσκαμμένον το θυσιαστήριον του Βαάλ και το άλσος το επ΄ αυτώ εκκεκομμένον και ο μόσχος ο σιτευτός ανηνεγμένος εις ολοκαύτωμα επί το θυσιαστήριον το ωκοδομημένον |
| 29And a man said to his neighbour, Who has done this thing? and they enquired and searched, and learnt that Gedeon the son of Joas had done this thing. | και είπεν ανήρ προς τον πλησίον αυτού τις εποίησε το πράγμα τούτο και ανήταζον και εξεζήτουν και είπαν Γεδεών υιός Ιωάς εποίησε το πράγμα τούτο |
| 30And the men of the city said to Joas, Bring out thy son, and let him die, because he has destroyed the altar of Baal, and because he has destroyed the grove that is by it. | και είπαν οι άνδρες της πόλεως προς Ιωάς εξάγαγε τον υιόν σου και αποθανέτω ότι κατέσκαψε το θυσιαστήριον του Βαάλ και ότι εξέκοψε το άλσος το επ΄ αυτώ |
| 31And Gedeon the son of Joas said to all the men who rose up against him, Do ye now plead for Baal, or will ye save him? whoever will plead for him, let him be slain this morning: if he be a god let him plead for himself, because one has thrown down his altar. | και είπεν Ιωάς προς τους άνδρας τους επανισταμένους επ΄ αυτόν μη υμείς νυν δικάζεσθε περί του Βαάλ η υμείς σώσετε αυτόν ος αν αντεδίκησεν αυτώ αποθανέτω έως πρωϊ ει θεός αυτός εστι εκδικήσει εαυτόν ότι κατέσκαψε το θυσιαστήριον αυτού |
| 32And he called it in that day Jerobaal, saying, Let Baal plead thereby, because his altar has been thrown down. | και εκάλεσεν αυτόν εν τη ημέρα εκεινη Ιεροβάαλ λέγων δικαστήριον του Βαάλ ότι κατέσκαψε το θυσιαστήριον αυτού |
| 33And all Madiam, and Amalek, and the sons of the east gathered themselves together, and encamped in the valley of Jezrael. | και πάσα Μαδιάμ και Αμαλήκ και οι υιοί ανατολών συνήχθησαν επί το αυτό και διέβησαν και παρενέβαλον εν τη κοιλάδι Ιεζραέλ |
| 34And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gedeon, and he blew with the horn, and Abiezer came to help after him. | και πνεύμα θεού ενεδυνάμωσε τον Γεδεών και εσάλπισεν εν κερατίνη και εβόησεν Αβιέζερ οπίσω αυτού |
| 35And Gedeon sent messengers into all Manasse, and into Aser, and into Zabulon, and into Nephthali; and he went up to meet them. | και αγγέλους εξαπέστειλεν εν παντί Μανασσή και εβόησε και αυτός οπίσω αυτού και αγγέλους εξαπέστειλεν εν Ασήρ και εν Ζαβουλών και εν Νεφθαλί και ανέβησαν εις απάντησιν αυτόυ |
| 36And Gedeon said to God, If thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said, | και είπε Γεδεών προς τον θεόν ει σώζεις εν χειρί μου τον Ισραήλ καθώς ελάλησας |
| 37behold, I put the fleece of wool in the threshing-floor: if there be dew on the fleece only, and drought on all the ground, I shall know that thou wilt save Israel by my hand, as thou hast said. | ιδού εγώ απερείδομαι τον πόκον των ερίων εν τω άλωνι και εάν δρόσος γένηται επί τον πόκον μόνον και επί πάσαν την γην ξηρασία και γνώσομαι ότι σώσεις εν χειρί μου τον Ισραήλ ον τρόπον ελάλησας |
| 38And it was so: and he rose up early in the morning, and wrung the fleece, and dew dropped from the fleece, a bowl full of water. | και εγένετο ούτως και ώρθρισε Γεδεών τη επαύριον και απεπίασεν τον πόκον και έσταξε δρόσος εκ του πόκου πλήρης λεκάνη ύδατος |
| 39And Gedeon said to God, Let not, I pray thee, thine anger be kindled with me, and I will speak yet once; I will even yet make one trial more with the fleece: let now the drought be upon the fleece only, and let there be dew on all the ground. | και είπε Γεδεών προς τον θεόν μη οργισθήτω ο θυμός σου εν εμοί και λαλήσω έτι άπαξ και πειράσω έτι άπαξ εν τω πόκω και γενηθήτω έτι ξηρασία επί τον πόκον μόνον επί δε πάσαν την γην γενηθήτω δρόσος |
| 40And God did so in that night; and there was drought on the fleece only, and on all the ground there was dew. | και εποίησεν ο θεός ούτως εν τη νυκτί εκείνη και εγένετο ξηρασία επί τον πόκον μόνον επί δε πάσαν την γην εγένετο δρόσος |

| 1And Jerobaal rose early, the same is Gedeon, and all the people with him, and encamped at the fountain of Arad; and the camp of Madiam was to the north of him, reaching from Gabaathamorai, in the valley. | και ώρθρισεν Ιεροβάαλ αυτός εστι Γεδεών και πας ο λαός μετ΄ αυτού και παρενέβαλον επί πηγήν Αρέδ και παρεμβολή Μαδιάμ ην αυτώ από βορρά από του βουνού Αβώρ εν τη κοιλάδι |
| 2And the Lord said to Gedeon, The people with thee are many, so that I may not deliver Madiam into their hand, lest at any time Israel boast against me, saying, My hand has saved me. | και είπε κύριος προς τον Γεδεών πολύς ο λαός ο μετά σου ώστε μη παραδούναί με την Μαδιάμ εν χειρί αυτών μή καυχήσηται Ισραήλ επ΄ εμέ λέγων η χειρ μου έσωσέ με |
| 3And now speak in the ears of the people, saying, Who is afraid and fearful? let him turn and depart from mount Galaad: and there returned of the people twenty-two thousand, and ten thousand were left. | και είπε κύριος προς αυτόν λάλησον δη εις τα ώτα του λαού λέγων τις ο φοβούμενος και δειλός αποστραφήτω και εξώρμησαν από του όρους Γαλαάδ και απεστράφησαν από του λαού είκοσι και δύο χιλιάδες και δέκα χιλιάδες υπελείφθησαν |
| 4And the Lord said to Gedeon, The people is yet numerous; bring them down to the water, and I will purge them there for thee: and it shall come to pass that of whomsoever I shall say to thee, This one shall go with thee, even he shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I shall say to thee, This one shall not go with thee, even he shall not go with thee. | και είπε κύριος προς Γεδεών έτι ο λαός πολύς εστι κατάγαγε αυτούς εις το ύδωρ και δοκιμώ αυτούς σοι εκεί και έσται ον αν είπω προς σε ούτος πορεύσεται μετά σου αυτός πορεύσεται μετά σοι και πάντα ον αν είπω ότι ου πορεύσεται μετά σου και αυτός ου πορεύσεται μετά σου |
| 5And he brought the people down to the water; and the Lord said to Gedeon, Whosoever shall lap of the water with his tongue as if a dog should lap, thou shalt set him apart, and also whosoever shall bow down upon his knees to drink. | και κατεβίβασε τον λαόν εις το ύδωρ και είπε κύριος προς Γεδεών πας ος αν λάψη τη γλώσση αυτού εκ του ύδατος ως αν λάψη ο κύων στήσεις αυτόν κατά μόνας και πας ος αν κάμψη επί τα γόνατα αυτού του πιείν μεταστήσεις αυτόν καθ΄ αυτόν |
| 6And the number of those that lapped with their hand to their mouth was three hundred men; and all the rest of the people bowed upon their knees to drink water. | και εγένετο ο αριθμός των λαψάντων εν τη γλώσση αυτών τριακόσιοι άνδρες και παν το κατάλοιπον του λαού έκαμψαν επί τα γόνατα αυτών πιείν ύδωρ |
| 7And the Lord said to Gedeon, I will save you by the three hundred men that lapped, and I will give Madiam into thy hand; and all the rest of the people shall go every one to his place. | και είπε κύριος προς Γεδεών εν τοις τριακοσίοις ανδράσι τοις λάψασι σώσω υμάς και δώσω την Μαδιάμ εν χειρί σου και πας ο λαός αποτρεχέτω ανήρ εις τον τόπον αυτού |
| 8And they took the provision of the people in their hand, and their horns; and he sent away every man of Israel each to his tent, and he strengthened the three hundred; and the army of Madiam were beneath him in the valley. | και έλαβον τον επισιτισμόν του λαού εν χειρί αυτών και τας κερατίνας αυτών και πάντα άνδρα Ισραήλ εξαπέστειλεν εις το σκήνωμα αυτού των δε τριακοσίων ανδρών εκράτησεν η δε παρεμβολή Μαδιάμ ην αυτού υποκάτω εν τη κοιλάδι |
| 9And it came to pass in that night that the Lord said to him, Arise, go down into the camp, for I have delivered it into thy hand. | και εγενήθη εν τη νυκτί εκείνη και είπε προς αυτόν κύριος ανάστα κατάβηθι εις τη παρεμβολήν ότι παρέδωκα αυτήν εν τη χειρί σου |
| 10And if thou art afraid to go down, go down thou and thy servant Phara into the camp. | ει δε φοβή συ καταβήναι κατάβηθι συ και Φαρά το παιδάριόν σου εις την παρεμβολήν |
| 11And thou shalt hear what they shall say, and afterwards thy hands shall be strong, and thou shalt go down into the camp: and he went down and Phara his servant to the extremity of the companies of fifty, which were in the camp. | και ακούση τι λαλούσιν και μετά ταύτα ενισχύσουσιν αι χείρές σου και καταβήση εν τη παρεμβολή και κατέβη αυτός και Φαρά το παιδάριον αυτού εις μέρος των πεντήκοντα των εν τη παρεμβολή |
| 12And Madiam and Amalec and all the children of the east were scattered in the valley, as the locust for multitude; and there was no number to their camels, but they were as the sand on the seashore for multitude. | και Μιδιάμ και Αμαλήκ και πάντες οι υιοί ανατολών παρεμβεβλήκεισαν εν τη κοιλάδι ως ακρίς εις πλήθος και ταις καμήλοις αυτών ουκ ην αριθμός αλλ΄ ήσαν ώσπερ η άμμος η επί το χείλος της θαλάσσης εις πλήθος |
| 13And Gedeon came, and behold a man was relating to his neighbour a dream, and he said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread rolling into the camp of Madiam, and it came as far as a tent, and smote it, and it fell, and it turned it up, and the tent fell. | και ήλθε Γεδεών και ιδού ανήρ εξηγείτο τω πλησίον αυτού ενύπνιον και είπεν ιδού ενύπνιασαμην ενύπνιον και ιδού μαγίς άρτου κριθίνου κυλιομένη εν τη παρεμβολή Μαδιάμ και ήλθεν έως της σκηνής Μαδιάμ και επάταξεν αυτήν και κατέστρεψεν αυτήν και έπεσεν η σκηνή |
| 14And his neighbour answered and said, This is none other than the sword of Gedeon, son of Joas, a man of Israel: God has delivered Madiam and all the host into his hand. | και απεκρίθη ο πλησίον αυτού και είπεν ουκ έστιν αύτη αλλ΄ ρομφαία Γεδεών υιόυ Ιωάς ανδρός Ισραήλ παρέδωκεν ο θεός εν χειρί αυτού την Μαδιάμ και πάσαν την παρεμβολήν |
| 15And it came to pass when Gedeon heard the account of the dream and the interpretation of it, that he worshipped the Lord, and returned to the camp of Israel, and said, Rise, for the Lord has delivered the camp of Madiam into our hand. | και εγένετο ως ήκουσε Γεδεών την εξήγησιν του ενυπνίου και την σύγκρισιν αυτού και προσεκύνησε κύριον και υπέστρεψεν εις την παρεμβολήν Ισραήλ και είπεν ανάστητε ότι παρέδωκε κύριος εν χερσίν υμών την παρεμβολήν Μαδιάμ |
| 16And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and put horns in the hands of all, and empty pitchers, and torches in the pitchers: | και διείλε τους τριακοσίους άνδρας εις τρεις αρχάς και έδωκε κερατίνας εν χειρί πάντων και υδρίας κενάς και λαμπάδας εν μέσω των υδριών |
| 17and he said to them, Ye shall look at me, and so shall ye do; and behold, I will go into the beginning of the host, and it shall come to pass that as I do, so shall ye do. | και είπε προς αυτούς απ΄ εμού όψεσθε και ούτως ποιήσετε και ιδού εγώ εισπορευόμαι εν μέσω της παρεμβολής και έσται ως αν ποιήσω ούτως ποιήσετε |
| 18And I will sound with the horn, and all ye with me shall sound with the horn round about the whole camp, and ye shall say, For the Lord and Gedeon. | και σαλπιώ εν τη κερατίνη εγώ και πάντες μετ΄ εμού και σαλπιείτε εν ταις κερατίναις κύκλω όλης της παρεμβολής και ερείτε τω κυρίω και τω Γεδεών |
| 19And Gedeon and the hundred men that were with him came to the extremity of the army in the beginning of the middle watch; and they completely roused the guards, and sounded with the horns, and they broke the pitchers that were in their hands, | και εισήλθεν Γεδεών και οι εκατόν άνδρες οι μετ΄ αυτού εν μέρει της παρεμβολής αρχομένης της φυλακής της μεσούσης πλην εγέρσει ήγειραν τους φυλάσσοντας και εσάλπισαν ταις κερατίναις και εξετίναξαν τας υδρίας τας εν ταις χερσίν αυτών |
| 20and the three companies sounded with the horns, and broke the pitchers, and held the torches in their left hands, and in their right hands their horns to sound with; and they cried out, A sword for the Lord and for Gedeon. | και εσάλπισαν αι τρεις αρχαί εν ταις κερατίναις και συνέτριψαν τας υδρίας και ελάβοντο εν τη χειρί τη αριστερά αυτών των λαμπάδων και εν τη χειρί τη δεξιά αυτών αι κερατίναι του σαλπίζειν και ανέκραξαν ρομφαία τω κυρίω και τω Γεδεών |
| 21And every man stood in his place round about the host; and all the host ran, and sounded an alarm, and fled. | και έστησαν έκαστος ανήρ καθ΄ εαυτόν κύκλω της παρεμβολής και έδραμον πάσα η παρεμβολή και εσήμαναν και έφυγον |
| 22And they sounded with the three hundred horns; and the Lord set every man's sword in all the host against his neighbour. | και εσάλπισαν αι τριακόσιαι κερατίναι και έθετο κύριος μάχαιραν ανδρός εν τω πλησίον αυτού και εν όλη τη παρεμβολή και έφυγεν η παρεμβολή έως της Βαιθασεττά Ταγαραγαθά έως χείλους Αβωμεουλά επί Ταβάθ |
| 23And the host fled as far as Bethseed Tagaragatha Abel-meula to Tabath; and the men of Israel from Nephthali, and from Aser, and from all Manasse, came to help, and followed after Madiam. | και εβόησεν ανήρ Ισραήλ εκ Νεφθαλί και εξ Ασήρ και εκ παντός Μανασσή και κατεδιώξαν οπίσω Μαδιάμ |
| 24And Gedeon sent messengers into all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down to meet Madiam, and take to yourselves the water as far as Baethera and Jordan: and every man of Ephraim cried out, and they took the water before hand unto Baethera and Jordan. | και αγγέλους εξαπέστειλε Γεδεών εν παντί όρει Εφραϊμ λέγων κατάβητε εις συνάντησιν Μαδιάμ και καταλάβετε εαυτοίς το ύδωρ έως Βαιθβηρά και τον Ιορδάνην και εβόησε πας ανήρ Εφραϊμ και προκατελάβοντο το ύδωρ έως Βαιθβηρά και τον Ιορδάνην |
| 25And they took the princess of Madiam, even Oreb and Zeb; and they slew Oreb in Sur Oreb, and they slew Zeb in Jakephzeph; and they pursued Madiam, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon from beyond Jordan. | και συνέλαβον τους δύο άρχοντας Μαδιάμ τον Ορήβ και τον Ζηβ και απέκτειναν τον Ορήβ εν Σουρ και τον Ζηβ απέκτειναν εν Ιακέβ και κατεδίωξαν την Μαδιάμ και την κεφαλήν Ορήβ και Ζηβ ήνεγκαν προς Γεδεών εκ του πέραν του Ιορδάνου |
Chapter 8[edit]
| 1And the men of Ephraim said to Gedeon, What is this that thou hast done to us, in that thou didst not call us when thou wentest to fight with Madiam? and they chode with him sharply. | και είπε προς αυτόν ανήρ Εφραϊμ τι το ρήμα τούτο εποίησας ημίν του μη καλέσαι ημάς ότε επορεύθης παραταξασθαι εν Μαδιάμ και εκρίνοντο μετ΄ αυτού κραταιώς |
| 2And he said to them, What have I now done in comparison of you? is not the gleaning of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer? | και είπε προς αυτούς τι εποίησα νυν καθώς υμείς ουχί κρείσσον επιφυλλίς Εφραϊμ η τρυγητός Αβιέζερ |
| 3The Lord has delivered into your hand the princes of Madiam, Oreb and Zeb; and what could I do in comparison of you? Then was their spirit calmed toward him, when he spoke this word. | εν χειρί υμών παρέδωκε κύριος τους άρχοντας Μαδιάμ τον Ορήβ και τον Ζηβ και τι ηδυνήθην ποιήσαι καθώς υμείς τότε ανήκε το πνεύμα αυτών απ΄ αυτού εν τω λαλήσαι αυτόν μετ΄ αυτών τον λόγον τούτον |
| 4And Gedeon came to Jordan, and went over, himself and the three hundred with him, hungry, yet pursuing. | και ήλθε Γεδεών επί τον Ιορδάνην και διέβη αυτός και οι τριακόσιοι άνδρες οι μετ΄ αυτού ολιγοψυχούντες και πεινώντες |
| 5And he said to the men of Socchoth, Give, I pray you, bread to feed this people that follow me; because they are faint, and behold, I am following after Zebee and Salmana, kings of Madiam. | και είπε τοις ανδράσι Σοκχώθ δότε δη άρτους εις την τροφήν τω λαώ τούτω τω μετ΄ εμού ότι πεινώσιν εγώ δε διώκω οπίσω του Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά βασιλέων Μαδιάμ |
| 6And the princes of Socchoth said, Are the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in thy hand, that we should give bread to thy host? | και είπον οι άρχοντες Σοκχώθ μη χειρ Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά νυν εν τη χειρί σου ότι δώσωμεν τη στρατιά σου άρτους |
| 7And Gedeon said, Therefore when the Lord gives Zebee and Salmana into my hand, then will I tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness, and the Barkenim. | και είπε Γεδεών ουχ ούτως εν τω δούναι κύριον τον Ζεβεέ και τον Σαλμανά εν τη χειρί μου και καταξανώ τας σάρκας υμών εν ταις ακάνθαις της ερήμου και εν ταις Βαρκηνίμ |
| 8And he went up thence to Phanuel, and spoke to them likewise: and the men of Phanuel answered him as the men of Socchoth had answered him. | και ανέβη εκείθεν εις Φανουήλ και ελάλησε προς αυτούς κατά ταύτα και απεκρίθησαν αυτώ οι άνδρες Φανουήλ ον τρόπον απεκρίθησαν αυτώ οι άνδρες Σοκχώθ |
| 9And Gedeon said to the men of Phanuel, When I return in peace, I will break down this tower. | και είπε Γεδεών τοις ανδράσι Φανουήλ λέγων εν τω επιστρέφειν με μετ΄ ειρήνης κατασκάψω τον πύργον τούτον |
| 10And Zebee and Salmana were in Carcar, and their host was with them, about fifteen thousand, all that were left of all the host of the aliens; and they that fell were a hundred and twenty thousand men that drew the sword. | και Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά εν Καρκάρ και η παρεμβολή αυτών μετ΄ αυτών ωσεί δεκαπέντε χιλιάδες πάντες οι καταλειφθέντες εν πάση τη παρεμβολή υιών ανατολών και οι πεπτωκότες ήσαν εκατόν και είκοσι χιλιάδες ανδρών εσπασμένων ρομφαίαν |
| 11And Gedeon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents, eastward of Nabai and Jegebal; and he smote the host, and the host was secure. | και ανέβη Γεδεών οδόν των κατοικούντων εν σκηναίς από ανατολών της Ναβαϊ και Ιεγεβάλ και επάταξε την παρεμβολήν η δε παρεμβολή ην πεποιθυία |
| 12And Zebee and Salmana fled; and he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Madiam, Zebee and Salmana, and discomfited all the army. | και έφυγε Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά και εδίωξεν οπίσω αυτών και εκράτησε τους δύο βασιλείς Μαδιάμ τον Ζεβεέ και τον Σαλμανά και πάσαν την παρεμβολήν αυτών εξέστησε |
| 13And Gedeon the son of Joas returned from the battle, down from the battle of Ares. | και ανέστρεψε Γεδεών υιός Ιωάς εκ του πολέμου από αναβάσεως Άρες |
| 14And he took prisoner a young lad of the men of Socchoth, and questioned him; and he wrote to him the names of the princes of Socchoth and of their elders, seventy-seven men. | και συνέλαβε παιδάριον εκ των ανδρών Σοκχώθ και επηρώτησεν αυτόν και απεγράψατο προς αυτόν τους άρχοντας Σοκχώθ και τους πρεσβυτέρους αυτής εβδομήκοντα και επτά άνδρας |
| 15And Gedeon came to the princes of Socchoth, and said, Behold Zebee and Salmana, about whom ye reproached me, saying, Are the hands of Zebee and Salmana now in thy hand, that we should give bread to thy men that are faint? | και παρεγένετο προς τους άρχοντας Σοκχώθ και είπεν αυτοίς ιδού Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά δι΄ ους ωνειδίσατέ με λέγοντες μη χειρ Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά νυν εν χειρί σου ότι δώσομεν τοις ανδράσι σου τοις εκλυομένοις άρτους |
| 16And he took the elders of the city with the thorns of the wilderness and the Barkenim, and with them he tore the men of the city. | και έλαβε τους άρχοντας και τους πρεσβυτέρους της πόλεως εν ταις ακάνθαις της ερήμου και τας Βαρκηνίμ και κατέξανεν εν αυτοίς τους άνδρας Σοκχώθ |
| 17And he overthrew the tower of Phanuel, and slew the men of the city. | και τον πύργον Φανουήλ κατέσκαψε και απέκτεινε τους άνδρας της πόλεως |
| 18And he said to Zebee and Salmana, Where are the men whom ye slew in Thabor? and they said, As thou, so were they, according to the likeness of the son of a king. | και είπε προς Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά που οι άνδρες ους απεκτείνατε εν Θαβόρ και είπαν ως συ ως αυτοί όμοιός σοι όμοιος αυτοίς ως είδος υιών βασιλέων |
| 19And Gedeon said, They were my brethren and the sons of my mother: as the Lord lives, if ye had preserved them alive, I would not have slain you. | και είπε Γεδεών αδελφοί μου υιοί της μητρός μου εισίν ζη κύριος ει εζωογονήσατε αυτούς ουκ αν απέκτεινα υμάς |
| 20And he said to Jether his first-born, Rise and slay them; but the lad drew not his sword, for he was afraid, for he was yet very young. | και είπεν τω Ιεθέρ τω πρωτοτόκω αυτού αναστάς απόκτεινον αυτούς και ουκ έσπασε το παιδάριον την μάχαιραν αυτού ότι εφοβήθη ότι ην νεώτερος |
| 21And Zebee and Salmana said, Rise thou and fall upon us, for thy power is as that of a man; and Gedeon arose, and slew Zebee and Salmana: and he took the round ornaments that were on the necks of their camels. | και είπε Ζεβεέ και Σαλμανά ανάστα δη συ και συνάντησον ημίν ότι ως ανήρ και η δύναμις αυτού και ανέστη Γεδεών και ανείλε τον Ζεβεέ και τον Σαλμανά και έλαβε τους μηνίσκους τους εν τοις τραχήλοις των καμήλων αυτών |
| 22And the men of Israel said to Gedeon, Rule, my lord, over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son's son; for thou hast saved us out of the hand of Madiam. | και είπεν ανήρ Ισραήλ προς Γεδεών άρξε εν ημίν συ και ο υιός σου και ο υιός του υιού σου ότι σέσωκας ημάς εκ χειρός Μαδιάμ |
| 23And Gedeon said to them, I will not rule, and my son shall not rule among you; the Lord shall rule over you. | και είπε προς αυτούς Γεδεών ουκ άρξω εγώ υμών και ουκ άρξει ο υιός μου εν υμίν κύριος άρξει υμών |
| 24And Gedeon said to them, I will make a request of you, and do ye give me every man an earring out of his spoils: for they had golden earrings, for they were Ismaelites. | και είπε προς αυτούς Γεδεών αιτήσομαι παρ΄ υμών αίτησιν και δότε μοι ανήρ ενώτιον των σκύλων αυτού ότι ενώτια χρυσά ην αυτοίς ότι ήσαν Ισμαηλίται |
| 25And they said, We will certainly give them: and he opened his garment, and each man cast therein an earring of his spoils. | και είπαν διδόντες δώσομεν και ανέπτυξε το ιμάτιον αυτού και έρριψεν εκεί ανήρ ενώτιον σκύλων αυτού |
| 26And the weight of the golden earrings which he asked, was a thousand and seven hundred pieces of gold, besides the crescents, and the chains, and the garments, and the purple cloths that were on the kings of Madiam, and besides the chains that were on the necks of their camels. | και εγενήθη ο σταθμός των ενωτίων των χρυσών ων ητήσατο σίκλοι χίλιοι και επτακόσιοι χρυσοί πλην των σιρώνων των μηνίσκων και των περιβολαίων των πορφυρίδων των επί τοις βασιλεύσι Μαδιάμ και πλην των κλοιών των εν τοις τραχήλοις των καμήλων αυτών |
| 27And Gedeon made an ephod of it, an set it in his city in Ephratha; and all Israel went thither a whoring after it, and it became a stumbling-block to Gedeon and his house. | και εποίησεν αυτώ Γεδεών εις εφούδ και έστησεν αυτό εν πόλει αυτού εν Εφρά και εξεπόρνευσε πας Ισραήλ οπίσω αυτού εκεί και εγένετο τω Γεδεών και τω οίκω αυτού εις σκάνδαλον |
| 28And Madiam, was straitened before the children of Israel, and they did not lift up their head any more; and the land had rest forty years in the days of Gedeon. | και ενετράπη Μαδιάμ ενώπιον των υιών Ισραήλ και ου προσέθεντο έτι άραι κεφαλήν αυτών και ησύχασεν η γη τεσσαράκοντα έτη εν ημέραις Γεδεών |
| 29And Jerobaal the son of Joas went and sat in his house. | και επορεύθη Ιεροβάαλ υιός Ιωάς και κατώκησεν εν τω οίκω αυτού |
| 30And Gedeon had seventy sons begotten of his body, for he had many wives. | και τω Γεδεών ήσαν εβδομήκοντα υιοί εκπορευόμενοι εκ μηρών αυτού ότι γυναίκες πολλαί ήσαν αυτώ |
| 31And his concubine was in Sychem, and she also bore him a son, and gave him the name Abimelech. | και η παλλακή αυτού εν Σικήμοις έτεκεν αυτώ και γε αυτή υιόν και επέθηκε το όνομα αυτού Αβιμέλεχ |
| 32And Gedeon son of Joas died in his city, and he was buried in the sepulchre of Joas his father in Ephratha of Abi-Esdri. | και απέθανε Γεδεών υιός Ιωάς εν πολιά αγαθή και ετάφη εν τω τάφω Ιωάς του πατρός αυτού εν εφρά Αβιεσδρί |
| 33And it came to pass when Gedeon was dead, that the children of Israel turned, and went a whoring after Baalim, and made for themselves a covenant with Baal that he should be their god. | και εγενήθη ως απέθανε Γεδεών και απέστρεψαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ και εξεπόρνευσαν οπίσω των Βααλίμ και έθεντο αυτοίς το Βαάλ εις διαθήκην του είναι αυτοίς αυτόν εις θεόν |
| 34And the children of Israel remembered not the Lord their God who had delivered them out of the hand of all that afflicted them round about. | και ουκ εμνήσθησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ κυρίου του θεού αυτών του ρυσαμένου αυτούς εκ χειρός πάντων των εχθρών αυτών κυκλόθεν |
| 35And they did not deal mercifully with the house of Jerobaal, (the same is Gedeon) according to all the good which he did to Israel. | και ουκ εποίησαν έλεος μετά του οίκου Ιεροβάαλ Γεδεών κατά πάσαν την αγαθωσύνην ην εποίησε μετά Ισραήλ |

| 1And Abimelech son of Jerobaal went to Sychem to his mother's brethren; and he spoke to them and to all the kindred of the house of his mother's father, saying, | και επορεύθη Αβιμέλεχ ο υιός Ιεροβάαλ εις Σίκημα προς τους αδελφούς της μητρός αυτού και ελάλησε προς αυτούς και προς πάσαν την συγγένειαν του οίκου πατρός μητρός αυτού λέγων |
| 2Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the men of Sychem, saying, Which is better for you, that seventy men, even all the sons of Jerobaal, should reign over you, or that one man should reign over you? and remember that I am your bone and your flesh. | λαλήσατε δη εν τοις ώσι πάντων των ανδρών Σικήμων ποίον βέλτιον υμίν το άρχειν υμών εβδομήκοντα άνδρας πάντας υιούς Ιεροβάαλ η κυριεύειν υμών άνδρα ένα και μνήσθητε ότι οστούν υμών και σαρξ υμών ειμί εγώ |
| 3And his mother's brethren spoke concerning him in the ears of all the men of Sychem all these words; and their heart turned after Abimelech, for they said, He is our brother. | και ελάλησαν περί αυτού οι αδελφοί της μητρός αυτού εν τοις ωσίν πάντων των ανδρών Σικήμων πάντας τους λόγους τούτους και έκλινεν η καρδία αυτών οπίσω Αβιμέλεχ ότι είπαν αδελφός ημών εστί |
| 4And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baalberith; and Abimelech hired for himself vain and cowardly men, and they went after him. | και έδωκαν αυτώ εβδομήκοντα αργυρίου εκ του οίκου Βαάλβερίθ και εμισθώσατο εν αυτοίς Αβιμέλεχ άνδρας κενούς και θαμβουμένους και επορεύθησαν οπίσω αυτού |
| 5And he went to the house of his father to Ephratha, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerobaal, seventy men upon one stone; but Joatham the youngest son of Jerobaal was left, for he hid himself. | και εισήλθεν εις τον οίκον του πατρός αυτού εις Εφραθά και απέκτεινε τους αδελφούς αυτού υιούς Ιεροβάαλ εβδομήκοντα άνδρας επί λίθον ένα και υπελείφθη Ιωαθάμ υιός Ιεροβάαλ ο νεώτερος ότι εκρύβη |
| 6And all the men of Sicima, and all the house of Bethmaalo, were gathered together, and they went and made Abimelech king by the oak of Sedition, which was at Sicima. | και συνήχθησαν πάντες οι άνδρες Σικήμων και πας ο οίκος Μααλώ και επορεύθησαν και εβασίλευσαν τον Αβιμέλεχ βασιλέα προς τη βαλάνω της στάσεως της εν Σικήμοις |
| 7And it was reported to Joatham, and he went and stood on the top of mount Garizin, and lifted up his voice, and wept, and said to them, Hear me, ye men of Sicima, and God shall hear you. | και ανήγγειλαν τω Ιωαθάμ και επορεύθη και έστησεν εν τη κορυφή του όρους Γαριζίν και επήρε την φωνήν αυτού και εκάλεσε και είπεν αυτοίς ακούσατέ μου άνδρες Σικήμων και ακούσεται υμών ο θεός |
| 8The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive, Reign over us. | πορευόμενα επορεύθησαν τα ξύλα του χρίσαι επ΄ αυτών βασιλέα και είπαν τη ελαία βασίλευσον εφ΄ ημών |
| 9But the olives said to them, Shall I leave my fatness, with which men shall glorify God, and go to be promoted over the trees? | και είπεν αυτοίς η ελαία αφείσα την πιότητά μου ην εν εμοί εδόξασεν ο θεός και οι άνθρωποι πορευθώ άρχειν επί των ξύλων |
| 10And the trees said to the fig-tree, Come, reign over us. | και είπαν τα ξύλα τη συκή δεύρο βασίλευσον εφ΄ ημών |
| 11But the fig-tree said to them, Shall I leave my sweetness an my good fruits, and go to be promoted over the trees? | και είπεν αυτοίς η συκή αφεισά την γλυκύτητά μου και τα γεννήματά μου το αγαθόν πορευθώ άρχειν των ξύλων |
| 12And the trees said to the vine, Come, reign over us. | και είπαν τα ξύλα τη αμπέλω δεύρο βασίλευε συ εφ΄ ημών |
| 13And the vine said to them, Shall I leave my wine that cheers God and men, and go to be promoted over the trees? | και είπεν αυτοίς η άμπελος αφείσα τον οίνόν μου την ευφροσύνην του θεού και των ανθρώπων πορευθώ άρχειν επί των ξύλων |
| 14Then all the trees said to the bramble, Come thou and reign over us. | και είπαν πάντα τα ξύλα προς την ράμνον δεύρο συ βασίλευε εφ΄ ημών |
| 15And the bramble said to the trees, If ye in truth anoint me to reign over you, come, stand under my shadow; and if not, let fire come out from me and devour the cedars of Libanus. | και είπεν η ράμνος προς τα ξύλα ει εν αληθεία χρίετέ με υμείς του βασιλεύειν εφ΄ υμάς δεύτε πεποίθατε εν τη σκέπη μου και ει εξέλθοι πυρ εκ της ράμνου και καταφάγοι τας κέδρους του Λιβάνου |
| 16And now, if ye have done it in truth and integrity, and have made Abimelech king, and if ye have wrought well with Jerobaal, and with his house, and if ye have done to him according to the reward of his hand, | και νυν ει εν αληθεία και εν τελειότητι εποιήσατε και εβασιλεύσατε τον Αβιμέλεχ και ει καλώς εποιήσατε μετά Ιεροβάαλ και μετά του οίκου αυτού και ει κατά το ανταπόδομα της χειρός αυτού εποιήσατε αυτώ |
| 17as my father fought for you, and put his life in jeopardy, and delivered you out of the hand of Madiam; | ως επολέμησεν ο πατήρ μου υπέρ υμών και έρριψε ψυχήν αυτού εξεναντίας και ερρύσατο υμάς εκ χειρός Μαδιάμ |
| 18and ye are risen up this day against the house of my father, and have slain his sons, being seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech the son of his bondwoman king over the men of Sicima, because he is your brother: | και υμείς επανέστητεν επί τον οίκον του πατρός μου σήμερον και απεκτείνατε τους υιούς αυτού εβδομήκοντα άνδρας επί λίθον ένα και εβασιλεύσατε τον Αβιμέλεχ υιόν της παιδίσκην αυτού επί τους άνδρας Σικήμων ότι αδελφός υμών εστι |
| 19if then ye have done truly and faithfully with Jerobaal, and with his house this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice over you: | και ει εν αληθεία και τελειότητι εποιήσατε μετά Ιοροβάαλ και του οίκου αυτού εν τη ημέρα ταύτη ευφρανθείητε εν Αβιμέλεχ και ευφρανθείη και γε αυτός εν υμίν |
| 20but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the men of Sicima, and the house of Bethmaalo; and let fire come out from the men of Sicima and from the house of Bethmaalo, and devour Abimelech. | ει μη εξέλθοι πυρ εξ Αβιμέλεχ και καταφάγοι τους άνδρας Σικήμων και τον οίκον Μαλώ και εξέλθοι πυρ από ανδρών Σικήμων και εκ του οίκου Μαλώ και καταφάγοι τον Αβιμέλεχ |
| 21And Joatham fled, and ran away, and went as far as Baeer, and dwelt there out of the way of his brother Abimelech. | και απέδρα Ιωθάμ και έφυγε και επορεύθη εις Βηρά και κατώκησε εκεί από προσώπου Αβιμέλεχ του αδελφού αυτού |
| 22And Abimelech reigned over Israel three years. | και ήρξεν Αβιμέλεχ επί Ισραήλ τρία έτη |
| 23And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Sicima; and the men of Sicima dealt treacherously with the house of Abimelech: | και εξαπέστειλεν ο θεός πνεύμα πονηρόν αναμέσον Αβιμέλεχ και αναμέσον των ανδρών Σικήμων και ηθέτησαν οι άνδρες Σικήμων εν τω οίκω Αβιμέλεχ |
| 24to bring the injury done to the seventy sons of Jerobaal, and to lay their blood upon their brother Abimelech, who slew them, and upon the men of Sicima, because they strengthened his hands to slay his brethren. | του επαγαγείν την αδικίαν των εβδομήκοντα υιών Ιεροβάαλ και το αίμα αυτών επιθείναι επί Αβιμέλεχ τον αδελφόν αυτών τον αποκτείναντα αυτούς και επί τους άνδρας Σικήμων τους κατισχύσαντες τας χείρας αυτών ωστε αποκτείναι τους αδελφούς αυτού |
| 25And the men of Sicima set liers in wait against him on the top of the mountains, and robbed every one who passed by them on the way; and it was reported to the king Abimelech. | και έθεντο αυτώ οι άνδρες Σικήμων ενεδρεύοντας επί τας κεφαλάς των ορεών και ανήρπαζον πάντας τους διαπορευομένους επ΄ αυτών εν τη οδώ και απηγγέλη τω Αβιμέλεχ |
| 26And Gaal son of Jobel came, and his brethren, and passed by Sicima, and the men of Sicima trusted in him. | και ήλθε Γαάλ υιός Αβέδ και οι αδελφοί αυτού και παρήλθον εις Σικήμα και επεποίθησαν εν αυτώ οι άνδρες Σικήμων |
| 27And they went out into the field, and gathered their grapes, and trod them, and made merry; and they brought the grapes into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech. | και εξήλθον εις αγρόν και ετρύγησαν τους αμπελώνας αυτών και επάτουν και εποίουν χορούς και εισήλθον εις οίκον θεού αυτών και έφαγον και έπιον και κατηρώντο τον Αβιμέλεχ |
| 28And Gaal the son of Jobel said, Who is Abimelech, and who is the son of Sychem, that we should serve him? Is he not the son of Jerobaal, and is not Zebul his steward, his servant with the son of Emmor the father of Sychem? and why should we serve him? | και είπε Γαάλ υιός Αβέδ τις εστίν Αβιμέλεχ και τις εστίν υιός Συχεμ ότι δουλεύσομεν αυτώ ουχ υιός Ιεροβάαλ και Ζεβούλ επίσκοπος αυτού δούλος αυτού συν τοις ανδράσιν Εμμώρ πατρός Συχέμ και τι ότι δουλεύσομεν αυτώ ημείς |
| 29And would that this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech, and I would say to him, Multiply thy host, and come out. | και τις δώη τον λαόν τούτον εν χειρί μου και μεταστήσω τον Αβιμέλεχ και ερώ προς Αβιμέλεχ πλήθυνον την δύναμίν σου και έξελθε |
| 30And Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Jobel, and he was very angry. | και ήκουσε Ζεβούλ ο άρχων της πόλεως τους λόγους Γαάλ υιόυ Αβέδ και εθυμώθη οργή |
| 31And he sent messengers to Abimelech secretly, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Jobel and his brethren are come to Sychem; and behold, they have besieged the city against thee. | και απέστειλεν αγγέλους προς Αβιμέλεχ μετά δώρων λέγων ιδού Γαάλ υιός Αβέδ και οι αδελφοί αυτού παραγεγόνασιν εις Σίκημα και οίδε πολιορκούσι την πόλιν επί σε |
| 32And now rise up by night, thou and the people with thee, and lay wait in the field. | και νυν ανάστηθι νυκτός συ και ο λαός ο μετά σου και ενέδρευε τω αγρώ |
| 33And it shall come to pass in the morning at sunrising, thou shalt rise up early and draw toward the city; and behold, he and the people with him will come forth against thee, and thou shalt do to him according to thy power. | και έσται τοπρωϊ άμα τω ανατείλαι τον ήλιον και ορθρίεις και εκτενείς επί την πόλιν και ιδού αυτός και ο λαός ο μετ΄ αυτού εκπορεύεται προς σε και ποιήσεις αυτώ καθάπερ αν εύρη η χειρ σου |
| 34And Abimelech and all the people with him rose up by night, and formed an ambuscade against Sychem in four companies. | και ανέστη Αβιμέλεχ και πας ο λαός ο μετ΄ αυτού νυκτός και ενήδρευσαν επί Σικήμα τέσσαρες αρχαί |
| 35And Gaal the son of Jobel went forth, and stood by the door of the gate of the city: and Abimelech and the people with him rose up from the ambuscade. | και εξήλθε Γαάλ υιός Αβέδ και έστη προς την θύρα της πύλης της πόλεως και ανέστη Αβιμέλεχ και πας ο λαός ο μετ΄ αυτού εκ των ενέδρων |
| 36And Gaal the son of Jobel saw the people, and said to Zebul, Behold, a people comes down from the top of the mountains: and Zebul said to him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as men. | και είδε Γαάλ υιός Αβέδ τον λαόν και είπε προς Ζεβούλ ιδού λαός καταβαίνων από των κορυφών των ορεών και είπε προς αυτόν Ζεβούλ την σκιάν των ορεών συ οράς ως άνδρας |
| 37And Gaal continued to speak and said, Behold, a people comes down westward from the part bordering on the middle of the land, and another company comes by the way of Helon Maonenim. | και προσέθετο έτι Γαάλ του λαλήσαι και είπεν ιδού λαός καταβαίνων κατά θάλασσαν από του εχόμενα του ομφαλού της γης και αρχή μία παραγίνεται από οδού δρυός βλεπόντων |
| 38And Zebul said to him, And where is thy mouth as thou spokest, Who is Abimelech that we should serve him? Is not this the people whom thou despisedst? go forth now, and set the battle in array against him. | και είπε προς αυτόν Ζεβούλ που εστι το στόμα σου το λέγον τις εστιν Αβιμέλεχ ότι δουλεύσομεν αυτώ ουκ ούτός εστιν ο λαός ον εξουδένωσας έξελθε δη νυν και πολέμει προς αυτόν |
| 39And Gaal went forth before the men of Sychem, and set the battle in array against Abimelech. | και εξήλθε Γαάλ από προσώπου των ανδρών Σικήμων και επολέμησε προς Αβιμέλεχ |
| 40And Abimelech pursued him, and he fled from before him; and many fell down slain as far as the door of the gate. | και κατεδίωξεν αυτόν Αβιμέλεχ και έφυγεν από προσώπου αυτού και έπεσον τραυματίαι πολλοί έως των θυρών της πόλεως |
| 41And Abimelech entered into Arema, and Zebul cast out Gaal and his brethren, so that they should not dwell in Sychem. | και εκάθισεν Αβιμέλεχ εν Αριμά και εξέβαλε Ζεβούλ τον Γαάλ και τους αδελφούς αυτού του μη οικείν εν Σικήμοις |
| 42And it came to pass on the second day that the people went out into the field, and one brought word to Abimelech. | και εγενήθη τη επαύριον και εξήλθεν ο λαός εις το πεδίον και απηγγέλη τω Αβιμέλεχ |
| 43And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and formed an ambush in the field; and he looked, and, behold, the people went forth out of the city, and he rose up against them, and smote them. | και παρέλαβε τον λαόν και διείλεν αυτόν εις τρεις αρχάς και ενήδρευσεν εν αγρώ και είδε και ιδού λαός εξήλθεν εκ της πόλεως και επανέστη επ΄ αυτούς και επάταξεν αυτούς |
| 44And Abimelech and the chiefs of companies that were with him rushed forward, and stood by the door of the gate of the city; and the two other companies rushed forward upon all that were in the field, and smote them. | και Αβιμέλεχ και αρχαί αι μετ΄ αυτού εξέτειναν και έστησαν παρά την θύραν της πύλης της πόλεως και αι δύο αρχαί εξεχύθησαν επί πάντας τους εν τω αγρώ και επάταξεν αυτούς |
| 45And Abimelech fought against the city all that day, and took the city, and slew the people that were in it, and destroyed the city, and sowed it with salt. | και Αβιμέλεχ επολέμει εν τη πόλει όλην την ημέραν εκείνην και κατελάβοντο την πόλιν και τον λαόν τον εν αυτή απέκτειναν και καθείλε την πόλιν και έσπειρεν αυτήν άλας |
| 46And all the men of the tower of Sychem heard, and came to the gathering of Baethel-berith. | και ήκουσαν πάντες οι άνδρες του πύργου Σικήμων και εισήλθον εις το οχύρωμα οίκου Βηθήλ |
| 47And it was reported to Abimelech, that all the men of the tower of Sychem were gathered together. | και ανηγγέλη τω Αβιμέλεχ ότι συνήχθησαν πάντες οι άνδρες του πύργου Σικήμων |
| 48And Abimelech went up to the mount of Selmon, and all the people that were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a branch of a tree, and took it, and laid it on his shoulders; and said to the people that were with him, What ye see me doing, do quickly as I. | και ανέβη Αβιμέλεχ εις όρος Σελμών αυτός και πας ο λαός ο μετ΄ αυτού και έλαβεν Αβιμέλεχ την αξίνην εν τη χειρί αυτού και έκοψε φορτίον ξύλων και έλαβεν αυτό και επέθηκεν επί τους ώμους αυτού και είπε προς τον λαόν τον μετ΄ αυτού τι ίδετέ με ποιούντα ταχέως ποιήσατε ως και εγώ |
| 49And they cut down likewise even every man a branch, and went after Abimelech, and laid them against the place of gathering, and burnt the place of gathering over them with fire; and they died, even all the men of the tower of Sicima, about a thousand men and women. | και έκοψαν και γε πάντες αυτοί έκαστος φορτίον και ήραν και επορεύθησαν οπίσω Αβιμέλεχ και επέθηκαν επί το οχύρωμα και ενέπρησαν επ΄ αυτούς το οχύρωμα εν πυρί και πάντες απέθανον οι άνδρες πύργου Σικήμων ωσεί χίλιοι άνδρες και γυναίκες |
| 50And Abimelech went out of Baethel-berith, and encamped against Thebes, and took it. | και επορεύθη Αβιμέλεχ εις Θηβής και περιεκάθισεν αυτήν και προκατελάβετο αυτήν |
| 51And there was a strong tower in the midst of the city; and thither all the men and the women of the city fled, and shut the door without them, and went up on the roof of the tower. | και πύργος ισχυρός ην εν μέσω της πόλεως και έφυγον εκεί πάντες οι άνδρες και αι γυναίκες και πάντες οι ηγούμενοι της πόλεως και απέκλεισαν εφ΄ εαυτοίς και ανέβησαν επί το δώμα του πύργου |
| 52And Abimelech drew near to the tower, and they besieged it; and Abimelech drew near to the door of the tower to burn it with fire. | και ήλθεν Αβιμέλεχ έως του πύργου και εξεπολέμησαν αυτόν και ήγγισεν Αβιμέλεχ έως της θύρας του πύργου του εμπρήσαι αυτόν εν πυρί |
| 53And a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon the head of Abimelech, and broke his skull. | και έρριψε γυνή μία κλάσμα μύλου επί την κεφαλήν Αβιμέλεχ και συνέκλασε το κρανίον αυτού |
| 54And he cried out quickly to the young man his armour-bearer, and said to him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, lest at any time they should say, A woman slew him: and his young man thrust him through and he died. | και εβόησε το τάχος προς το παιδάριον το αίρον τα σκεύη αυτού και είπεν αυτώ σπάσαι την ρομφαιαν σου και θανάτωσόν με μή είπωσι ότι γυνή απέκτεινεν αυτόν και εξεκέντησεν αυτόν το παιδάριον αυτού και απέθανε |
| 55And the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead; and they went each to his place. | και είδεν ανήρ Ισραήλ ότι απέθανεν Αβιμέλεχ και απήλθεν ανήρ εις τον τόπον αυτού |
| 56So God requited the wickedness of Abimelech, which he wrought against his father, in slaying his seventy brethren. | και επέστρεψεν ο θεός την κακίαν Αβιμέλεχ ην εποίησε τω πατρί αυτού αποκτείναι τους εβδομήκοντα αδελφούς αυτού |
| 57And all the wickedness of the men of Sychem God requited upon their head; and the curse of Joatham the son of Jerobaal came upon them. | και πάσαν την κακίαν ανδρών Σικήμων επέστρεψεν ο θεός εις την κεφαλήν αυτών και επήλθεν επ΄ αυτούς η κατάρα Ιωαθάμ του υιόυ Ιεροβάαλ |

| 1And after Abimelech Thola the son of Phua rose up to save Israel, being the son of his father's brother, a man of Issachar; and he dwelt in Samir in mount Ephraim. | και ανέστη μετά Αβιμέλεχ του σώσαι τον Ισραήλ Θωλά υιός Φουά υιός πατραδέλφου αυτού ανήρ Ισσάχαρ και αυτός κατώκει εν Σαμίρ εν όρει Εφραϊμ |
| 2And he judged Israel twenty-three years, and died, and was buried in Samir. | και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ είκοσι και τρία έτη και απέθανε και ετάφη εν Σαμίρ |
| 3And after him arose Jair of Galaad, and he judged Israel twenty-two years. | και ανέστη μετ΄ αυτόν Ιαϊρ ο Γαλααδίτης και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ είκοσι και δύο έτη |
| 4And he had thirty-two sons riding on thirty-two colts, and they had thirty-two cities; and they called them Jair's towns until this day in the land of Galaad. | και εγένοντο αυτώ τριάκοντα υιοί επιβεβηκότες επί τριάκοντα πώλους και τριάκοντα πόλεις αυτοίς και αυτάς εκάλεσεν επαύλεις Ιαϊρ έως της ημέρας ταύτης αι εισιν εν γη Γαλαάδ |
| 5And Jair died, and was buried in Rhamnon. | και απέθανεν Ιαϊρ και ετάφη εν Καμών |
| 6And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord, and served Baalim, and Astaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Sidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the children of Ammon, and the gods of the Phylistines; and they forsook the Lord, and did not serve him. | και προσέθεντο οι υιοί Ισραήλ ποιήσαι το πονηρόν έναντι κυρίου και ελάτρευσαν τοις Βααλίμ και τοις Ασταρώθ και τοις θεοίς Συρίας και τοις θεοίς Σιδώνος και τοις θεοίς Μωάβ και τοις θεοίς υιών Αμμών και τοις θεοίς των αλλοφύλων και εγκατέλιπον τον κύριον και ουκ εδούλευσαν αυτώ |
| 7And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hands of the Phylistines, and into the hand of the children of Ammon. | και εθυμώθη οργή κύριος εν τω Ισραήλ και απέδοτο αυτούς εν χειρί αλλοφύλων και εν χειρί υιών Αμμών |
| 8And they afflicted and bruised the children of Israel at that time eighteen years, all the children of Israel beyond Jordan in the land of the Amorite in Galaad. | και εσάθρωσαν και έθλασαν τους υιούς Ισραήλ εν τω ενιαυτώ εκείνω οκτωκαίδεκα έτη πάντας τους υιούς Ισραήλ τους εν τω πέραν του Ιορδάνου εν γη του Αμορραίου εν τη Γαλααδίτιδι |
| 9And the children of Ammon went over Jordan to fight with Juda, and Benjamin, and with Ephraim; and the children of Israel were greatly afflicted. | και διέβησαν οι υιοί Αμμών τον Ιορδάνην εκπολεμήσαι και εν τω Ιούδα και Βενιαμίν και εν τω οίκω Εφραϊμ και εθλίβησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ σφόδρα |
| 10And the children of Israel cried to the Lord, saying, We have sinned against thee, because we have forsaken God, and served Baalim. | και έκραξαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον λέγοντες ημάρτομέν σοι ότι εγκατελίπομεν τον θεόν ημών και ελατρεύσαμεν τοις Βααλίμ |
| 11And the Lord said to the children of Israel, Did I not save you from Egypt and from the Amorite, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Phylistines, | και είπε κύριος προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ ουχί οι Αιγύπτιοι και οι Αμορραίοι και οι υιοί Αμμών και Μωάβ και αλλόφυλοι |
| 12and from the Sidonians, and Amalec, and Madiam, who afflicted you? and ye cried to me, and I saved you out of their hand? | και Σιδώνιοι και Αμαλήκ και Χαναάν εξέθλιψαν υμάς και εκεκράξατε προς με και έσωσα υμάς εκ χειρός αυτών |
| 13Yet ye forsook me and served other gods; therefore I will not save you any more. | και υμείς εγκατελίπετέ με και εδουλεύσατε θεοίς ετέροις διά τούτο ου προσθήσω του σώσαι υμάς |
| 14Go, and cry to the gods whom ye have chosen to yourselves, and let them save you in the time of your affliction. | βαδίζετε και βοάτε προς τους θεούς ους εξελέξασθε εαυτοίς και αυτοί σωσάτωσαν υμάς εν καιρώ θλίψεως υμών |
| 15And the children of Israel said to the Lord, We have sinned: do thou to us according to all that is good in thine eyes; only deliver us this day. | και είπαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς κύριον ημάρτομεν ποίησον συ ημίν κατά πάντα όσα αν αρέσκη ενώπιόν σου πλην εξελού ημάς εν τη ημέρα ταύτη |
| 16And they put away the strange gods from the midst of them, and served the Lord only, and his soul was pained for the trouble of Israel. | και μετέστησαν τους θεούς τους αλλοτρίους εκ μέσου αυτών και ελάτρευσαν τω κυρίω και ωλιγοψύχησεν εν τω κόπω Ισραήλ |
| 17And the children of Ammon went up, and encamped in Galaad; and the children of Israel were gathered together and encamped on the hill. | και ανέβησαν οι υιοί Αμμών και παρενέβαλον εν Γαλαάδ και εξήλθον οι υιοί Ισραήλ και παρενέβαλον εν Μασσηφά |
| 18And the people the princes of Galaad said every man to his neighbour, Who is he that shall begin to fight against the children of Ammon? he shall even be head over all that dwell in Galaad. | και είπον ο λαός οι άρχοντες Γαλαάδ ανήρ προς τον πλησίον αυτού τις ο ανήρ ος άρξεται πολεμήσαι εν τοις υιοίς Αμμών και έσται εις κεφαλήν πάσι τοις κατοικούσι εν Γαλαάδ |

| 3And Jephthae fled from the face of his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob; and vain men gathered to Jephthae, and went out with him. | και απέδρα Ιεφθάε εκ προσώπου των αδελφών αυτού και κατώκησεν εν γη Τωβ και συνελέγοντο προς τον Ιεφθάε άνδρες λιτοί και συνεξεπορεύοντο μετ΄ αυτού |
| 4And it came to pass when the children of Ammon prepared to fight with Israel, | και εγένετο μεθ΄ ημέρας και επολέμησαν οι υιοί Αμμών μετά Ισραήλ και εγενήθη ηνίκα επολέμησαν οι υιοί Αμμών μετά Ισραήλ |
| 5that the elders of Galaad went to fetch Jephthae from the land of Tob. | και επορεύθησαν οι πρεσβύτεροι Γαλαάδ παραλαβείν τον Ιεφθάε από της γης Τωβ |
| 6And they said to Jephthae, Come, and be our head, and we will fight with the sons of Ammon. | και είπον προς Ιεφθάε δεύρο και έση ημίν εις ηγούμενον και πολεμήσομεν εν τοις υιοίς Αμμών |
| 7And Jephthae said to the elders of Galaad, Did ye not hate me, and cast me out of my father's house, and banish me from you? and wherefore are ye come to me now when ye want me? | και είπεν Ιεφθάε τοις πρεσβυτέροις Γαλαάδ ουχ υμείς εμισήσατέ με και εξεβάλατέ με εκ του οίκου του πατρός μου και εξαπεστείλατέ με αφ΄ υμών και τι ότι ήλθατε προς με νυν ηνίκα εθλίβητε |
| 8And the elders of Galaad said to Jephthae, Therefore have we now turned to thee, that thou shouldest go with us, and fight against the sons of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Galaad. | και είπαν οι πρεσβύτεροι Γαλαάδ προς Ιεφθάε ουκ ούτως νυν συνήλθομεν προς σε και συμπορεύση ημίν και πολεμήσομεν εν τοις υιοίς Αμμών και έση ημίν εις κεφαλήν πάσι τοις κατοικούσι Γαλαάδ |
| 9And Jephthae said to the elders of Galaad, If ye turn me back to fight with the children of Ammon, and the Lord should deliver them before me, then will I be your head. | και είπεν Ιεφθάε προς τους πρεσβυτέρους Γαλαάδ ει επιστρέφετέ με υμείς πολεμήσαι εν τοις υιοίς Αμμών και παραδώ κύριος αυτούς ενώπιον εμού εγώ έσομαι υμίν εις κεφαλήν |
| 10And the elders of Galaad said to Jephthae, The Lord be witness between us, if we shall not do according to thy word. | και είπαν οι πρεσβύτεροι Γαλαάδ προς Ιεφθάε κύριος έσται ο ακούων αναμέσον ημών ει κατά το ρήμά σου ούτως ποιήσομεν |
| 11And Jephthae went with the elders of Galaad, and the people made him head and ruler over them: and Jephthae spoke all his words before the Lord in Massepha. | και επορεύθη Ιεφθάε μετά των πρεσβυτέρων Γαλαάδ και κατέστησαν ο λαός αυτόν επ΄ αυτών εις κεφαλήν και εις ηγούμενον και ελάλησεν Ιεφθάε πάντας τους λόγους αυτού ενώπιον κυρίου εν Μασσηφά |
| 12And Jephthae sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What have I to do with thee, that thou hast come against me to fight in my land? | και απέστειλεν Ιεφθάε αγγέλους προς βασιλέα υιών Αμμών λέγων τι εμοί και σοι ότι ήκεις προς με του πολεμήσαι εν τη γη μου |
| 13And the king of the children of Ammon said to the messengers of Jephthae, Because Israel took my land when he went up out of Egypt, from Arnon to Jaboc, and to Jordan: now then return them peaceably and I will depart. | και είπε βασιλεύς υιών Αμμών προς τους αγγέλους Ιεφθάε ότι έλαβεν Ισραήλ την γην μου εν τη αναβάσει αυτού εξ Αιγύπτου από Αρνών έως Ιαβόκ και έως του Ιορδάνου και νυν επίστρεψον αυτάς μετ΄ ειρήνης |
| 14And Jephthae again sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, | και προσέθετο έτι Ιεφθάε και απέστειλεν αγγέλους προς τον βασιλέα υιών Αμμών |
| 15and said to him, Thus says Jephthae, Israel took not the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon; | και είπαν αυτώ τάδε λέγει Ιεφθάε ουκ έλαβεν Ισραήλ την γην Μωάβ και την γην υιών Αμμών |
| 16for in their going up out of Egypt Israel went in the wilderness as far as the sea of Siph, and came to Cades. | εν τη αναβάσει αυτών εξ Αιγύπτου αλλ΄ επορεύθη Ισραήλ εν τη ερήμω έως θαλάσσης ερυθράς και ήλθεν έως Κάδης |
| 17And Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, I will pass, if it please thee, by thy land: and the king of Edom complied not: and Israel also sent to the king of Moab, and he did not consent; and Israel sojourned in Cades. | και απέστειλεν Ισραήλ αγγέλους προς βασιλέα Εδώμ λέγων παρελεύσομαι διά της γης σου και ουκ ήκουσε βασιλεύς Εδώμ και γε προς βασιλέα Μωάβ απέστειλε και ουκ ηθέλησεν και εκάθισεν Ισραήλ εν Κάδης |
| 18And they journeyed in the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom and the land of Moab: and they came by the east of the land of Moab, an encamped in the country beyond Arnon, and came not within the borders of Moab, for Arnon is the border of Moab. | και διήλθεν εν τη ερήμω και εκύκλωσε την γην Εδώμ και την γην Μωάβ και παρεγένετο κατ΄ ανατολάς ηλίου της γης Μωάβ και παρενέβαλεν εν τω πέραν Αρνών και ουκ εισήλθον εις το όριον Μωάβ |
| 19And Israel sent messengers to Seon king of the Amorite, king of Esbon, and Israel said to him, Let us pass, we pray thee, by thy land to our place. | και απέστειλεν αγγέλους Ισραήλ προς Σηών βασιλέα των Αμορραίων βασιλέα Εσεβών και είπεν αυτώ Ισραήλ παρελεύσομαι διά της γης σου έως του τόπου μου |
| 20And Seon did not trust Israel to pass by his coast; and Seon gathered all his people, and they encamped at Jasa; and he set the battle in array against Israel. | και ουκ ηθέλησε Σηών τον Ισραήλ διελθείν διά των ορίων αυτού και συνήγαγε Σηών πάντα τον λαόν αυτού και παρενέβαλεν εις Ιασσά και επολέμησεν μετά Ισραήλ |
| 21And the Lord God of Israel delivered Seon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote him; and Israel inherited all the land of the Amorite who dwelt in that land, | και παρέδωκε κύριος ο θεός Ισραήλ τον Σηών και πάντα τον λαόν αυτού εν χειρί Ισραήλ και επάταξεν αυτούς και εκληρονόμησεν Ισραήλ πάσαν την γην του Αμορραίου του κατοικούντος εν τη γη εκείνην |
| 22from Arnon and to Jaboc, and from the wilderness to Jordan. | και εκληρονόμησε παν το όριον του Αμορραίου από Αρνών και έως του Ιαβόκ και από του ερήμου έως του Ιορδάνου |
| 23And now the Lord God of Israel has removed the Amorite from before his people Israel, and shalt thou inherit his land? | και νυν κύριος ο θεός Ισραήλ εξήρε τον Αμορραίον εκ προσώπου λαού αυτού Ισραήλ και συ κληρονομήσεις αυτόν |
| 24Wilt thou not inherit those possessions which Chamos thy god shall cause thee to inherit; and shall not we inherit the land of all those whom the Lord our God has removed from before you? | ουχί όσα κατεκληρονόμήσε σοι Χαμώς ο θεός σου αυτά κατεκληρονομήσεις και πάντα όσα κατεκληρονόμησεν κύριος ο θεός ημών εκ προσώπου υμών αυτά κληρονομήσομεν |
| 25And now art thou any better than Balac son of Sepphor, king of Moab? did he indeed fight with Israel, or indeed make war with him, | και νυν μη κρείσσων ει συ υπέρ Βαλαάκ υιόυ Σεπφώρ βασιλέως Μωάβ μη μάχη εμαχέσατο μετά Ισραήλ η πολέμω επολέμησεν αυτοίς |
| 26when Israel dwelt in Esebon and in its coasts, and in the land of Aroer and in its coasts, and in all the cities by Jordan, three hundred years? and wherefore didst thou not recover them in that time? | εν τω οικήσαι Ισραήλ εν Εσεβών και εν ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής και εν Αροήρ και εν ταις θυγατράσιν αυτής και εν πάσαις ταις πόλεσι ταις παρά τον Ιορδάνην τριακόσια έτη τι ότι ουκ ερρύσαντο αυτούς εν τω καιρώ εκείνω |
| 27And now I have not sinned against thee, but thou wrongest me in preparing war against me: may the Lord the Judge judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon. | καγώ ουχ ήμαρτόν σοι και συ ποιείς μετ΄ εμού πονηρίαν του πολεμήσαι εν εμοί κρίναι κύριος ο κρίνων σήμερον αναμέσον υιών Ισραήλ και αναμέσον υιών Αμμών |
| 28But the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not to the words of Jephthae, which he sent to him. | και ουκ εισήκουσε βασιλεύς υιών Αμμών των λόγων Ιεφθάε ων απέστειλε προς αυτόν |
| 29And the spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthae, and he passed over Galaad, and Manasse, and passed by the watch-tower of Galaad to the other side of the children of Ammon. | και εγενήθη επί Ιεφθάε πνεύμα κυρίου και διέβη την Γαλαάδ και την Μανασσή και διέβη την σκοπιάν Γαλαάδ και από σκοπιάς Γαλαάδ εις το πέραν υιών Αμμών |
| 30And Jephthae vowed a vow to the Lord, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver the children of Ammon into my hand, | και ηύξατο Ιεφθάε ευχήν τω κυρίω και είπεν εάν παραδόσει παραδώς τους υιούς Αμμών εν χειρί μου |
| 31then it shall come to pass that whosoever shall first come out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, he shall be the Lord's: I will offer him up for a whole-burnt-offering. | και έσται ο εκπορευόμενος ος αν εξέλθοι εκ των θυρών του οίκου μου εις απάντησίν μου εν τω επιστρέψαι με εν ειρήνη από των υιών Αμμών και έσται τω κυρίω και ανοίσω αυτόν ολοκαύτωμα |
| 32And Jephthae advanced to meet the sons of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord delivered them into his hand. | και διέβη Ιεφθάε προς υιούς Αμμών του πολεμήσαι προς αυτούς και παρέδωκεν αυτούς κύριος εν χειρί αυτού |
| 33And he smote them from Aroer till one comes to Arnon, in number twenty cities, and as far as Ebelcharmim, with a very great destruction: and the children of Ammon were straitened before the children of Israel. | και επάταξεν αυτούς από Αροήρ και έως του ελθείν Μενίθ είκοσι πόλεις και έως Αβέλ αμπελώνων πληγήν μεγάλην σφόδρα και ενετράπησαν οι υιοί Αμμών από προσώπου υιών Ισραήλ |
| 34And Jephthae came to Massepha to his house; and behold, his daughter came forth to meet him with timbrels and dances; and she was his only child, he had not another son or daughter. | και ήλθεν Ιεφθάε εις Μασσηφά εις τον οίκον αυτού και ιδού η θυγάτηρ αυτού εξεπορεύετο εις απάντησιν αυτού εν τυμπάνοις και χοροίς και αυτή μονογενής και ουκ ην αυτώ πλην αυτής υιός η θυγάτηρ |
| 35And it came to pass when he saw her, that he rent his garments, and said, Ah, ah, my daughter, thou hast indeed troubled me, and thou wast the cause of my trouble; and I have opened my mouth against thee to the Lord, and I shall not be able to return from it. | και εγενήθη ηνίκα είδεν αυτήν και διέρρηξε τα ιμάτια αυτού και είπεν οίμοι θυγάτηρ μου εμπεποδοστάτηκάς με εις σκώλον εγένου εν οφθαλμοίς μου και εγώ ήνοιξα το στόμα μου περί σου προς κύριον και ου δυνήσομαι του αποστρέψαι |
| 36And she said to him, Father, hast thou opened thy mouth to the Lord? Do to me accordingly as the word went out of thy mouth, in that the Lord has wrought vengeance for thee on thine enemies of the children of Ammon. | και είπε προς αυτόν ει εν εμοί ήνοιξας το στόμα σου προς κύριον ποίησόν μοι ον τρόπον εξήλθεν εκ του στόματός σου ανθ΄ εποίησέ σοι κύριος εκδικήσις εκ των εχθρών σου εκ των υιών Αμμών |
| 37And she said to her father, Let my father now do this thing: let me alone for two months, and I will go up and down on the mountains, and I will bewail my virginity, I and my companions. | και είπε προς τον πατέρα αυτής και ποίησόν μοι το ρήμα τούτο έασόν με δύο μήνας και πορεύσομαι και καταβήσομαι επί τα όρη και κλαύσομαι επί τα παρθένεία μου εγώ και αι συνεταιρίδες μου |
| 38And he said, Go: and he sent her away for two months; and she went, and her companions, and she bewailed her virginity on the mountains. | και είπε πορεύου και εξαπέστειλεν αυτήν δύο μήνας και επορεύθη αυτή και αι συνεταιρίδες αυτής και έκλαυσαν επί τα παρθένεια αυτής επί τα όρη |
| 39And it came to pass at the end of the two months that she returned to her father; and he performed upon her his vow which he vowed; and she knew no man: | και εγένετο μετά το τέλος των δύο μηνών και ανέκαμψε προς τον πατέρα αυτής και επετέλεσεν Ιεφθάε της ευχήν αυτού ην ηύξατο και αυτή ουκ έγνω άνδρα και εγενήθη εις πρόσταγμα εν Ισραήλ |
| 40and it was an ordinance in Israel, That the daughters of Israel went from year to year to bewail the daughter of Jephthae the Galaadite for four days in a year. | εξ ημερών εις ημέρας συνεπορεύοντο αι θυγατέρες Ισραήλ θρηνείν την θυγατέρα Ιεφθάε του Γαλααδίτου του τέσσαρας ημέρας εν τω ενιαυτώ |

| 1And the men of Ephraim assembled themselves, and passed on to the north, and said to Jephthae, Wherefore didst thou go over to fight with the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house over thee with fire. | και συνήχθησαν οι υιοί Εφραϊμ και ήλθον εις Σεφηνά και είπον προς Ιεφθάε τι ότι επορεύθης πολεμήσαι προς τους υιοίς Αμμών και ημάς ου κέκληκας πορευθήναι μετά σου τον οίκόν σου εμπρήσομεν επί σε εν πυρί |
| 2And Jephthae said to them, I and my people and the children of Ammon were very much engaged in war; and I called for you, and ye did not save me out of their hand. | και είπε Ιεφθάε προς αυτούς ανήρ αντιδικών ήμην εγώ και ο λαός μου και οι υιοί Αμμών εταπείνουν με σφόδρα και εβόησα προς υμάς και ουκ εσώσατέ με εκ χειρός αυτών |
| 3And I saw that thou wert no helper, and I put my life in my hand, and passed on to the sons of Ammon; and the Lord delivered them into my hand: and wherefore are ye come up against me this day to fight with me? | και είδον ότι ουκ ην ο σώζων και εθέμην την ψυχήν μου εν τη χειρί μου και διέβην προς υιούς Αμμών και παρέδωκεν αυτούς κύριος εν χειρί μου και ινατί ανέβητε προς με εν τη ημέρα ταύτη πολεμείν εν εμοί |
| 4And Jephthae gathered all the men of Galaad, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Galaad smote Ephraim, because they that were escaped of Ephraim said, Ye are of Galaad in the midst of Ephraim and in the midst of Manasse. | και συνήθροισεν Ιεφθάε πάντας τους άνδρας Γαλαάδ και επολέμει τω Εφραϊμ και επάταξαν άνδρες Γαλαάδ τον Εφραϊμ ότι είπαν οι διασεσωσμένοι του Εφραϊμ υμείς Γαλαάδ εν μέσω του Εφραϊμ και εν μέσω του Μανασσή |
| 5And Galaad took the fords of Jordan before Ephraim; and they that escaped of Ephraim said to them, Let us go over: and the men of Galaad said, Art thou an Ephrathite? and he said, No. | και προκατελάβετο Γαλαάδ τας διαβάσεις του Ιορδάνου του Εφραϊμ και εγενήθη ότε είπαν αυτοίς οι διασεσωσμένοι του Εφραϊμ διαβώμεν δη και είπον αυτοίς οι άνδρες Γαλαάδ μη εκ του Εφραϊμ υμείς και είπαν ουκ εσμέν |
| 6Then they said to him, Say now Stachys; and he did not rightly pronounce it so: and they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan; and there fell at that time of Ephraim two and forty thousand. | και είπον αυτοίς είπατε δη στάχυς και ου κατεύθυνε του λαλήσαι ούτως και επελάβοντο αυτούς και έσφαζον αυτούς επί τας διαβάσεις του Ιορδάνου και έπεσαν εξ Εφραϊμ εν τω καιρώ εκείνω τεσσαράκοντα και δύο χιλιάδες |
| 7And Jephthae judged Israel six years; and Jephthae the Galaadite died, and was buried in his city Galaad. | και έκρινεν Ιεφθάε τον Ισραήλ εξ έτη και απέθανεν Ιεφθάε ο Γαλααδίτης και ετάφη εν πόλει αυτού Γαλαάδ |
| 8And after him Abaissan of Bethleem judged Israel. | και έκρινε μετ΄ αυτόν τον Ισραήλ Εβεσάν εκ Βηθλεέμ |
| 9And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent forth; and he brought in thirty daughters for his sons from without; and he judged Israel seven years. | και εγένοντο αυτώ τριάκοντα υιοί και τριάκοντα θυγατέρες αι εξαπεσταλμέναι έξω και τριάκοντα γυναίκας εισήγαγε τοις υιοίς αυτού από έξωθεν και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ επτά έτη |
| 10And Abaissan died, and was buried in Bethleem. | και απέθανεν Εβεσάν και ετάφη εν Βηθλεέμ |
| 11And after him Aelom of Zabulon judged Israel ten years. | και έκρινε μετ΄ αυτόν τον Ισραήλ Αιλώμ ο Ζαβουλωνίτης και έκρινεν τον Ισραήλ δέκα έτη |
| 12And Aelom of Zabulon died, and was buried in Aelom in the land of Zabulon. | και απέθανεν Αιλώμ ο Ζαβουλωνίτης και ετάφη εν Αιλώμ εν γη Ζαβουλών |
| 13And after him Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, judged Israel. | και έκρινε μετ΄ αυτόν τον Ισραήλ Αβδώμ υιός Ελλήλ ο Φαραθωνίτης |
| 14And he had forty sons, and thirty grandsons, that rode upon seventy colts: and he judged Israel eight years. | και εγένοντο αυτώ τεσσαράκοντα υιοί και τριάκοντα υιοί των υιών αυτού επιβαίνοντες επί εβδομήκοντα πώλους και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ οκτώ έτη |
| 15And Abdon the son of Ellel, the Pharathonite, died, and was buried in Pharathon in the land of Ephraim in the mount of Amalec. | και απέθανεν Αβδών υιός Ελλήλ ο Φαραθωνίτης και ετάφη εν Φαραθών εν γη Εφραϊμ εν όρει του Αμαλήκ |

| 1And the children of Israel yet again committed iniquity before the Lord; and the Lord delivered them into the hand of the Phylistines forty years. | και προσέθεντο έτι οι υιοί Ισραήλ ποιήσαι το πονηρόν ενώπιον κυρίου και παρέδωκεν αυτούς κύριος εν χειρί αλλοφύλων τεσσαράκοντα έτη |
| 2And there was a man of Saraa, of the family of the kindred of Dan, and his name was Manoe, and his wife was barren, and bore not. | και εγένετο ανήρ εις εξ Αραά εκ της φυλής του Δαν και όνομα αυτώ Μανώε και η γυνή αυτού στείρα και ουκ έτικτε |
| 3And an angel of the Lord appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold, thou art barren and hast not born; yet thou shalt conceive a son. | και ώφθη άγγελος κυρίου προς την γυναίκα και είπε προς αυτήν ιδού δη συ στείρα και ου τέτοκας και εν γαστρί έξεις και τέξη υιόν |
| 4And now be very cautious, and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat no unclean thing; | και νυν φύλαξαι και μη πίης οίνον και σικέραν και μη φαγή παν ακάθαρτον |
| 5for behold, thou art with child, and shalt bring forth a son; and there shall come no razor upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Phylistines. | ότι ιδού συ εν γαστρί έχεις και τέξη υιόν και σίδηρος ουκ αναβήσεται επί της κεφαλής αυτού ότι Ναζιραίον τω θεώ έσται το παιδάριον εκ της γαστρός και αυτός άρξεται σώζειν τον Ισραήλ εκ χειρός αλλοφύλων |
| 6And the woman went in, and spoke to her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his appearance was as of an angel of God, very dreadful; and I did not ask him whence he was, and he did not tell me his name. | και ήλθεν η γυνή και είπε τω ανδρί αυτής λέγουσα άνθρωπος του θεού ήλθε προς με και η όρασις αυτού ως όρασις αγγέλου του θεού επιφανής σφόδρα και ουκ ηρώτησα αυτόν πόθεν εστί και το όνομα αυτού ουκ απήγγειλέ μοι |
| 7And he said to me, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bring forth a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat no unclean thing; for the child shall be holy to God from the womb until the day of his death. | και είπε μοι ιδού συ εν γαστρί έχεις και τέξη υιόν και νυν μη πίης οίνον και σικέραν και μη φάγης πάσαν ακαθαρσίαν ότι Ναζηραίον θεού έσται το παιδάριον από της γαστρός έως ημέρας θανάτου αυτού |
| 8And Manoe prayed to the Lord and said, I pray thee, O Lord my lord, concerning the man of God whom thou sentest; let him now come to us once more, and teach us what we shall do to the child about to be born. | και εδεήθη Μανώε του κυρίου και είπεν εν εμοί κύριε τον άνθρωπος του θεού ον απέστειλας ελθέτω δη έτι προς ημάς και φωτισάτω ημάς τι ποιήσωμεν τω παιδαρίω τω τικτομένω |
| 9And the Lord heard the voice of Manoe, and the angel of God came yet again to the woman; and she sat in the field, and Manoe her husband was not with her. | και επήκουσεν ο θεός της φωνής Μανώε και παρεγένετο ο άγγελος του θεού έτι προς την γυναίκα και αύτη εκάθητο εν τω αγρώ και Μανώε ο ανήρ αυτής ουκ ην μετ΄ αυτής |
| 10And the woman hasted, and ran, and brought word to her husband, and said to him, Behold the man who came in the other day to me has appeared to me. | και ετάχυνεν η γυνή και έδραμε και απήγγειλε τω ανδρί αυτής και είπε προς αυτόν ιδού ώπταί μοι ο ανήρ ο ελθών τη ημέρα εκείνη προς με |
| 11And Manoe arose and followed his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Art thou the man that spoke to the woman? and the angel said, I am. | και ανέστη και επορεύθη Μανώε οπίσω της γυναικός αυτού και ήλθε προς τον άνδρα και είπεν αυτώ ει συ ει ο ανήρ ο λαλήσας προς την γυναίκα και είπεν ο άγγελος εγώ |
| 12And Manoe said, Now shall thy word come to pass: what shall be the ordering of the child, and our dealings with him? | και είπε Μανώε νυν διελθόντος του ρήματός σου τι έσται το κρίμα του παιδαρίου και τα έργα αυτού |
| 13And the angel of the Lord said to Manoe, Of all things concerning which I spoke to the woman, she shall beware. | και είπεν ο άγγελος κυρίου προς Μανώε από πάντων ων είπα προς την γυναίκα φυλαξάσθω |
| 14She shall eat of nothing that comes of the vine yielding wine, and let her not drink wine or strong liquor, and let her not eat anything unclean: all things that I have charged her she shall observe. | από παντός ο εκπορεύεται εξ αμπέλου ου φάγεται και οίνον και σικέραν μη πιέτω και παν ακάθαρτον μη φαγέτω πάντα όσα ενετειλάμην αυτή φυλαξάσθω |
| 15And Manoe said to the angel of the Lord, Let us detain thee here, and prepare before thee a kid of the goats. | και είπε Μανώε προς τον άγγελον κυρίου βιασώμεθα δη σε και ποιήσομεν ενώπιόν σου έριφον αιγών |
| 16And the angel of the Lord said to Manoe, If thou shouldest detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; and if thou wouldest offer a whole-burnt-offering, to the Lord thou shalt offer it: for Manoe knew not that he was an angel of the Lord. | και είπεν ο άγγελος κυρίου προς Μανώε εάν βιάση με ου φάγομαι από των άρτων σου και εάν ποιήσης ολοκαύτωμα τω κυρίω ανοίσεις αυτό ότι ουκ έγνω Μανώε ότι άγγελος κυρίου αυτός |
| 17And Manoe said to the angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy word shall come to pass, we may glorify thee? | και είπε Μανώε προς τον άγγελον κυρίου τι το όνομά σοι ίνα όταν έλθη το ρήμά σου και δοξάσωμέν σε |
| 18And the angel of the Lord said to him, Why dost thou thus ask after my name; whereas it is wonderful? | και είπεν αυτώ ο άγγελος κυρίου ινατί τούτο ερωτάς το όνομά μου και αυτό εστί θαυμαστόν |
| 19And Manoe took a kid of the goats and its meat-offering, and offered it on the rock to the Lord; and the angel wrought a distinct work, and Manoe and his wife were looking on. | και έλαβε Μανώε τον έριφον των αιγών και την θυσίαν και ανήνεγκεν επί την πέτραν τω κυρίω τω θαυμαστά ποιούντι και Μανώε και η γυνή αυτού εθεώρουν |
| 20And it came to pass when the flame went up above the altar toward heaven, that the angel of the Lord went up in the flame; and Manoe and his wife were looking, and they fell upon their face to the earth. | και εγένετο εν τω αναβήναι την φλόγα επάνωθεν του θυσιαστηρίου έως του ουρανού και ανέβη ο άγγελος κυρίου εν τη φλογί του θυσιαστηρίου και Μανώε και η γυνή αυτού εθεώρουν και έπεσον επί πρόσωπον αυτών επί την γην |
| 21And the angel appeared no more to Manoe and to his wife: then Manoe knew that this was an angel of the Lord. | και ου προσέθηκεν έτι ο άγγελος κυρίου οφθήναι προς Μανώε και προς την γυναίκα αυτού τότε έγνω Μανώε ότι άγγελος κυρίου ούτος |
| 22And Manoe said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. | και είπε Μανώε προς την γυναίκα αυτού θανάτω αποθανούμεθα ότι θεόν εωράκαμεν |
| 23But his wife said to him, If the Lord were pleased to slay us, he would not have received of our hand a whole-burnt-offering and a meat-offering; and he would not have shewn us all these things, neither would he have caused us to hear all these things | και είπεν αυτώ η γυνή αυτού ει εβούλετο κύριος θανατώσαι ημάς ουκ αν εδέξατο εκ της χειρός ημών ολοκαύτωμα και θυσίαν και ουκ αν εφώτισεν ημάς πάντα ταύτα και καθώς ο καιρός και ουκ αν ακουστά εποίησεν ημίν ταύτα |
| 24And the woman brought forth a son, and she called his name Sampson; and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. | και έτεκεν η γυνή υιόν και εκάλεσε το όνομα αυτού Σαμψών και ηυξήθη το παιδάριον και ευλόγησεν αυτόν κύριος |
| 25And the Spirit of the Lord began to go out with him in the camp of Dan, and between Saraa and Esthaol. | και ήρξατο πνεύμα κυρίου συνεκπορεύεσθαι αυτώ εν παρεμβολή Δαν αναμέσον Σαραά και αναμέσον Εσθαόλ |
Chapter 14[edit]
| 1And Sampson went down to Thamnatha, and saw a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Philistines. | και κατέβη Σαμψών εις Θαμναθά και είδε γυναίκα εν Θαμναθά εκ των θυγατέρων των αλλοφύλων |
| 2And he went up and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Thamnatha of the daughters of the Phylistines; and now take her to me for a wife. | και ανέβη και απήγγειλε τω πατρί αυτού και τη μητρί αυτού και είπε γυναίκα εώρακα εν Θαμναθά από των θυγατέρων των αλλοφύλων και νυν λάβετε αυτήν μοι εις γυναίκα |
| 3And his father and his mother said to him, Are there no daughters of thy brethren, and is there not a woman of all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Sampson said to his father, Take her for me, for she is right in my eyes. | και είπεν αυτώ ο πατήρ αυτού και η μήτηρ αυτού ουκ έστιν από των θυγατέρων των αδελφών σου και εν παντί τω λαώ μου γυνή ότι συ πορεύση λαβείν γυναίκα εκ των αλλοφύλων των απεριτμήτων και είπε Σαμψών προς τον πατέρα αυτού ταύτην λάβε μοι ότι αύτη ήρεσεν εν οφθαλμοίς μου |
| 4And his father and his mother knew not that it was of the Lord, that he sought to be revenged on the Philistines: and at that time the Philistines lorded it over Israel. | και ο πατήρ αυτού και η μήτηρ αυτού ουκ έγνωσαν ότι παρά κυρίου εστίν ότι ανταπόδομα αυτός εκζητεί εκ των αλλοφύλων και εν τω καιρώ εκείνω οι αλλόφυλοι εκυρίευον των υιών Ισραήλ |
| 5And Sampson and his father and his mother went down to Thamnatha, and he came to the vineyard of Thamnatha; and behold, a young lion roared in meeting him. | και κατέβη Σαμψών και ο πατήρ αυτού και η μήτηρ αυτού εις Θαμναθά και ήλθεν εις του αμπελώνας Θαμναθά και ιδού σκύμνος λέοντος ωρυόμενος εις απάντησιν αυτού |
| 6And the spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him, and he crushed him as he would have crushed a kid of the goats, and there was nothing in his hands: and he told not his father and his mother what he had done. | και κατεύθυνεν επ΄ αυτόν πνεύμα κυρίου και διέσπασεν αυτόν ως έριφον αιγών και ουδέν ην εν τη χειρί αυτού και ουκ απήγγειλε τω πατρί αυτού και τη μητρί αυτού α εποίησε |
| 7And they went down and spoke to the woman, and she was pleasing in the eyes of Sampson. | και κατέβησαν και ελάλησαν τη γυναικί και ήρεσεν ενώπιον Σαμψών |
| 8And after some time he returned to take her, and he turned aside to see the carcase of the lion; and behold, a swarm of bees, and honey were in the mouth of the lion. | και υπέστρεψε μεθ΄ ημέρας λαβείν αυτήν και εξέκλινεν ιδείν το πτώμα του λέοντος και ιδού συστροφή μελισσών εν τω στόματι του λέοντος και μέλι |
| 9And he took it into his hands, and went on eating, and he went to his father and his mother, and gave to them, and they did eat; but he told them not that he took the honey out of the mouth of the lion. | και εξείλεν αυτό εις το στόμα αυτού και επορεύετο πορευόμενος και έσθιων και επορεύθη προς τον πατέρα αυτού και προς την μητέρα αυτού και έδωκεν αυτοίς και έφαγον και ουκ ανήγγειλεν αυτοίς ότι εκ του έξεως του λέοντος εξείλε το μέλι |
| 10And his father went down to the woman, and Sampson made there a banquet for seven days, for so the young men are used to do. | και κατέβη ο πατήρ αυτού προς την γυναίκα και εποίησεν εκεί Σαμψών πότον επτά ημέρας ότι ούτως εποίουν οι νεανίσκοι |
| 11And it came to pass when they saw him, that they took thirty guests, and they were with him. | και εγένετο εν τω φοβείσθαι αυτούς αυτόν και προσκατέστησαν αυτώ τριάκοντα εταίρους και ήσαν μετ΄ αυτού |
| 12And Sampson said to them, I propound you a riddle: if ye will indeed tell it me, and discover it within the seven days of the feast, I will you give thirty sheets and thirty changes of raiment. | και είπεν αυτοίς Σαμψών προβαλώ δη υμίν το πρόβλημα και εάν απαγγέλλοντες απαγγείλητέ μοι αυτό εν ταις επτά ημέραις του πότου και εύρητε δώσω υμίν τριάκοντα σινδόνας και τριάκοντα στολάς ιματίων |
| 13And if ye cannot tell it me, ye shall give me thirty napkins and thirty changes of apparel: and they said to him, Propound thy riddle, and we will hear it. | και εάν μη δύνησθε απαγγείλαί μοι και δώσετε υμείς εμοί τριάκοντα σινδόνας και τριάκοντα στολάς ιματίων και είπαν αυτώ προβαλού το πρόβλημα σου και ακουσόμεθα αυτό |
| 14And he said to them, Meat came forth of the eater, and sweetness out of the strong: and they could not tell the riddle for three days. | και είπεν αυτοίς εκ του έσθοντος εξήλθε βρώσις και εξ ισχυρού εξήλθε γλυκύ και ουκ ηδυνήθησαν απαγγείλαι το πρόβλημα επί τρεις ημέρας |
| 15And it came to pass on the fourth day, that they said to the wife of Sampson, Deceive now thy husband, and let him tell thee the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father's house with fire: did ye invite us to do us violence? | και εγένετο εν τη ημέρα τη εβδόμη και είπαν τη γυναικί Σαμψών απάτησον δη τον άνδρα σου και απαγγειλάτω σοι το πρόβλημα μή εμπυρίσωμέν σε και τον οίκον του πατρός σου εν πυρί η πτωχεύσαι εκαλέσατε ημάς |
| 16And Sampson's wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not; for the riddle which thou hast propounded to the children of my people thou hast not told me: and Sampson said to her, If I have not told it to my father and my mother, shall I tell it to thee? | και έκλαυσεν η γυνή Σαμψών προς αυτόν και είπεν αυτώ μεμίσηκάς με και ουκ ηγάπησάς με ότι το πρόβλημα ο προεβαλόυ τοις υιοίς του λαού μου ουκ απήγγειλας και μοι αυτό και είπεν αυτή Σαμψών ιδού τω πατρί μου και τη μητρί μου ουκ απήγγειλα αυτό και σοι απαγγελώ |
| 17And she wept before him the seven days, during which their banquet lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she troubled him; and she told it to the children of her people. | και έκλαυσεν επ΄ αυτόν επί τας επτά ημέρας εν αις ην αυταίς ο πότος και εγένετο εν τη ημέρα τη εβδόμη απήγγειλεν αυτή ότι παρηνώχλησεν αυτόν και αυτή απήγγειλε τοις υιοίς του λαού αυτής |
| 18And the men of the city said to him on the seventh day, before sunrise, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? and Sampson said to them, If ye had not ploughed with my heifer, ye would not have known my riddle. | και είπαν αυτώ οι άνδρες της πόλεως εν τη ημέρα τη εβδόμη πριν δύναι τον ήλιον τι γλυκύτερον μέλιτος και τι ισχυρότερον λέοντος και είπεν αυτοίς Σαμψών ει ηροτριάσατε εν τη δαμαλεί μου ουκ αν εύρετε το πρόβλημά μου |
| 19And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him powerfully, and he went down to Ascalon, and destroyed of the inhabitants thirty men, and took their garments, and gave the changes of raiment to them that told the riddle; and Sampson was very angry, and went up to the house of his father. | και κατεύθυνεν επ΄ αυτόν πνεύμα κυρίου και κατέβη εις Ασκάλωνα και έπαισεν εκείθεν τριάκοντα άνδρας και έλαβε τας στολάς αυτών και έδωκε τοις απαγγείλασι το πρόβλημα και εθυμώθη οργή Σαμψών και ανέβη εις τον οίκον του πατρός αυτού |
| 20And the wife of Sampson was given to one of his friends, with whom he was on terms of friendship. | και συνώκησεν η γυνή Σαμψών τω νυμφαγωγώ αυτού ος ην εταίρος αυτού |
Chapter 15[edit]
| 1And it came to pass after a time, in the days of wheat harvest, that Sampson visited his wife with a kid, and said, I will go in to my wife even into the chamber: but her father did not suffer him to go in. | και εγένετο μεθ΄ ημέρας εν ημέραις θερισμού πυρών και επεσκέψατο Σαμψών την γυναίκα αυτού φέρων έριφον αιγών και είπεν εισελεύσομαι προς την γυναίκά μου εις τον κοιτώνα και ουκ έδωκεν αυτόν ο πατήρ αυτής εισελθείν |
| 2And her father spoke, saying, I said that thou didst surely hate her, and I gave her to one of thy friends: is not her younger sister better than she? let her be to thee instead of her. | και είπεν ο πατήρ αυτής ειπών είπα ότι μισών εμίσησας αυτήν και έδωκα αυτήν τω συνεταίρω σου ουκ ιδού η αδελφή αυτής η νεωτέρα κρείσσων αυτής εστίν έστω σοι ανθ΄ αυτής |
| 3And Sampson said to them, Even for once am I guiltless with regard to the Philistines, in that I do mischief among them. | και είπεν αυτώ Σαμψών αθώός ειμι το άπαξ από αλλοφύλων ότι ποιώ εγώ μεθ΄ υμών κακά |
| 4And Sampson went and caught three hundred foxes, and took torches, and turned tail to tail, and put a torch between two tails, and fastened it. | και επορεύθη Σαμψών και συνέλαβε τριακοσίας αλώπεκας και έλαβε λαμπάδας και συνέδησε κέρκον προς κέρκον και έθηκε λαμπάδα μίαν αναμέσον των δύο κέρκων και ωδήγησε |
| 5And he set fire to the torches, and sent the foxes into the corn of the Philistines; and every thing was burnt from the threshing floor to the standing corn, and even to the vineyard and olives. | και εξέκαυσε πυρ εν ταις λαμπάσι και εξαπέστειλεν εν τοις στάχυσι των αλλοφύλων και ενεπύρισε τους στάχυας από άλωνος και έως σταχύων ορθών και έως αμπελώνος και ελαίας |
| 6And the Philistines said, Who has done these things? and they said, Sampson the son-in-law of the Thamnite, because he has taken his wife, and given her to one of his friends; and the Philistines went up, and burnt her and her father's house with fire. | και είπαν οι αλλόφυλοι τις εποίησε ταύτα και είπαν Σαμψών ο γαμβρός του Θαμναταίου ότι έλαβε την γυναίκα αυτού και έδωκεν αυτήν τω συνεταίρω αυτού και ανέβησαν οι αλλόφυλοι και ενέπρησαν αυτήν και τον οίκον του πατρός αυτής εν πυρί |
| 7And Sampson said to them, Though ye may have dealt thus with her, verily I will be avenged of you, and afterwards I will cease. | και είπεν αυτοίς Σαμψών εάν ποιήσητε ούτως ουκ ευδοκήσω αλλά την εκδίκησίν μου εξ ενός εκάστου υμών ποιήσομαι |
| 8And he smote them leg on thigh with a great overthrow; and went down and dwelt in a cave of the rock Etam. | και επάταξεν αυτούς κνήμην επί μηρόν πληγήν μεγάλην και κατέβη και εκάθισεν εν τρυμαλιά της πέτρας Ητάμ |
| 9And the Philistines went up, and encamped in Juda, and spread themselves abroad in Lechi. | και ανέβησαν οι αλλόφυλοι και παρενέβαλον εν Ιούδα και εξερρίφησαν εν Λεχί |
| 10And the men of Juda said, Why are ye come up against us? and the Philistines said, We are come up to bind Sampson, and to do to him as he has done to us. | και είπεν αυτοίς πας ανήρ Ιούδα ινατί ανέβητε εφ΄ ημάς και είπον οι αλλόφυλοι δήσαι τον Σαμψών ανέβημεν και ποιήσαι αυτώ ον τρόπον εποίησεν ημίν |
| 11And the three thousand men of Juda went down to the hole of the rock Etam, and they said to Sampson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines rule over us? and what is this that thou hast done to us? and Sampson said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them. | και κατέβησαν τρισχίλιοι άνδρες εξ Ιούδα επί τρυμαλιάν πέτρας Ητάμ και είπαν προς Σαμψών ουκ οίδας ότι κυριεύουσιν οι αλλόφυλοι ημών και ινατί ταύτα εποίησας ημίν και είπεν αυτοίς Σαμψών ον τρόπον εποίησάν μοι ούτως εποίησα αυτοίς |
| 12And they said to him, We are come down to bind thee to deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines: and Sampson said to them, Swear to me that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. | και είπον αυτώ δήσαί σε κατέβημεν του παραδούναί σε εις χείρας αλλοφύλων και είπεν αυτοίς Σαμψών ομόσατέ μοι μη αποκτείναί με υμείς και μή συναντήσητέ μοι υμείς |
| 13And they spoke to him, saying, Nay, but we will only bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand, and will by no means slay thee: and they bound him with two new ropes, and brought him from that rock. | και ώμοσαν αυτώ λέγοντες ουχί αλλ΄ δεσμώ δήσομέν σε και παραδώσομέν σε εις χείρας αυτών θανάτω δε ου θανατώσομέν σε και έδησαν αυτόν εν δυσί καλωδίοις καινοίς και ανήνεγκαν αυτόν εκ της πέτρας |
| 14And they came to Lechi: and the Philistines shouted, and ran to meet him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the ropes that were upon his arms became as tow which is burnt with fire; and his bonds were consumed from off his hands. | και αυτός ήλθεν έως Σιαγόνος και οι αλλόφυλοι ηλάλαξαν και έδραμον εις συνάντησιν αυτού και κατεύθυνεν επ΄ αυτόν πνεύμα κυρίου και εγένετο τα καλώδια τα εν τοις βραχίοσιν αυτού ωσεί στυππίον ηνίκα αν οσφρανθή πυρός και ετάκησαν οι δεσμοί από των βραχιόνων αυτού |
| 15And he found the jaw-bone of an ass that had been cast away, and he put forth his hand and took it, and smote with it a thousand men. | και εύρεν σιαγόνα όνου ερριμμένην και εξέτεινε την χείρα αυτού και έλαβεν αυτήν και επάταξεν εν αυτή χιλίους άνδρας |
| 16And Sampson said, With the jaw-bone of an ass I have utterly destroyed them, for with the jaw-bone of an ass I have smitten a thousand men. | και είπε Σαμψών εν σιαγόνι όνου εξαλείφων εξήλειψα αυτούς ότι εν τη σιαγόνι του όνου επάταξα χιλίους άνδρας |
| 17And it came to pass when he ceased speaking, that he cast the jaw-bone out of his hand; and he called that place the Lifting of the jaw-bone. | και εγένετο ηνίκα συνετέλεσε λαλών και έρριψε την σιαγόνα από της χειρός αυτού και εκάλεσε τον τόπον εκείνον αναίρεσις σιαγόνος |
| 18And he was very thirsty, and wept before the Lord, and said, Thou hast been well pleased to grant this great deliverance by the hand of thy servant, and new shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? | και εδίψησε σφόδρα και εβόησε προς κύριον και είπε συ έδωκας εν χειρί του δούλου σου την σωτηρίαν την μεγάλην ταύτην και νυν αποθανούμαι εν δίψη και εμπεσούμαι εν χειρί των απεριτμήτων |
| 19And God broke open a hollow place in the jaw, and there came thence water, and he drank; and his spirit returned and he revived: therefore the name of the fountain was called 'The well of the invoker,' which is in Lechi, until this day. | και ήνοιξεν ο θεός το τραύμα τον εν τη σιαγόνι και εξήλθεν εξ αυτού ύδατα και έπιε και επέστρεψε το πνεύμα αυτού και έζησε διά τούτο εκλήθη το όνομα αυτής πηγή του επικαλουμένου η εστιν εν Σιαγόνι έως της ημέρας ταύτης |
| 20And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years. | και έκρινε τον Ισραήλ εν ημέραις αλλοφύλων είκοσι έτη |
Chapter 16[edit]
| 1And Sampson went to Gaza, and saw there a harlot, and went in to her. | και επορεύθη Σαμψών εις Γάζαν και είδεν εκεί γυναίκα πόρνην και εισήλθε προς αυτήν |
| 2And it was reported to the Gazites, saying, Sampson is come hither: and they compassed him and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and they were quiet all the night, saying, Let us wait till the dawn appear, and we will slay him. | και απηγγέλη τοις Γαζαίοις λέγοντες ήκει Σαμψών ώδε και κατεκύκλωσαν και ενήδρευσαν επ΄ αυτόν ολην την νύκτα επί της πύλης της πόλεως και εκωφεύσαν όλην την νύκτα λέγοντες έως διαφαύση ο όρθρος μείνωμεν και αποκτείνωμεν αυτόν |
| 3And Sampson slept till midnight, and rose up at midnight, and took hold of the doors of the gate of the city with the two posts, and lifted them up with the bar, and laid them on his shoulders, and he went up to the top of the mountain that is before Chebron, and laid them there. | και εκοιμηθή Σαμψών έως μεσονυκτίου και ανέστη εν ημίσει της νυκτός και επελάβετο των θυρών της πύλης της πόλεως και των δύο σταθμών και ανεβάσταζεν αυτάς συν τω μοχλώ και έθηκεν επί ώμων αυτού και ανήνεγκεν αυτά επί την κορυφήν του όρους ο εστιν επί προσώπου Χεβρών |
| 4And it came to pass after this that he loved a woman in Alsorech, and her name was Dalida. | και εγένετο μετά τούτο και ηγάπησε γυναίκα επί του χειμάρρου Σωρήχ και όνομα αυτή Δαλιλά |
| 5And the princess of the Philistines came up to her, and said to her, Beguile him, and see wherein his great strength is, and wherewith we shall prevail against him, and bind him to humble him; and we will give thee each eleven hundred pieces of silver. | και ανέβησαν προς αυτήν οι σατράπαι των αλλοφύλων και είπον αυτή απάτησον αυτόν και είδε εν τίνι η ισχύς αυτού εστίν η μεγάλη και εν τίνι δυνησόμεθα προς αυτόν και δήσομεν αυτόν ώστε ταπεινώσαι αυτόν και ημείς δώσομέν σοι ανήρ χιλίους και εκατόν αργυρίου |
| 6And Dalida said to Sampson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein is thy great strength, and wherewith thou shalt be bound that thou mayest be humbled. | και είπε Δαλιλά προς Σαμψών απάγγειλον δη μοι εν τίνι η ισχύς σου η μεγάλη και εν τίνι δεθήση του ταπεινωθήναί σε |
| 7And Sampson said to her, If they bind me with seven moist cords that have not been spoiled, then shall I be weak and be as one of ordinary men. | και είπε προς αυτήν Σαμψών εάν δήσωσί με εν επτά νευραίς υγραίς μη διεφθαρμέναις και ασθενήσω και έσομαι ως εις των ανθρώπων |
| 8And the princess of the Philistines brought to her seven moist cords that had not been spoiled, and she bound him with them. | και ανήνεγκαν αυτή οι σατράπαι των αλλοφύλων επτά νευράς υγράς μη διεφθαρμένας και έδησεν αυτόν εν αυταίς |
| 9And the liers in wait remained with her in the chamber; and she said to him, the Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he broke the cords as if any one should break a thread of tow when it has touched the fire, and his strength was not known. | και το ένεδρον εκάθητο αυτού εν τω ταμείω και είπεν προς αυτόν αλλόφυλοι επί σε Σαμψών και διέρρηξεν τας νευράς ον τρόπον διασπάται κλώσμα στιππύου εν τω οσφρανθήναι αυτο πυρός και ουκ εγνώσθη η ισχύς αυτού |
| 10And Dalida said to Sampson, Behold, thou hast cheated me, and told me lies; now then tell me wherewith thou shalt be bound. | και είπε Δαλιλά προς Σαμψών ιδού παρελογίσω με και ελάλησας προς με ψευδή νυν ουν ανάγγειλόν μοι εν τίνι δεθήση |
| 11And he said to her, If they should bind me fast with new ropes with which work has not been done, then shall I be weak, and shall be as another man. | και είπε προς αυτήν εάν δεσμεύοντες δήσωσί με εν καλωδίοις καινοίς οις ουκ εγένετο εν αυτοίς έργον και ασθενήσω και έσομαι ως εις των ανθρώπων |
| 12And Dalida took new ropes, and bound him with them, and the liers in wait came out of the chamber, and she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he broke them off his arms like a thread. | και έλαβε Δαλιλά καλώδια καινά και έδησεν αυτόν εν αυτοίς και είπε προς αυτόν οι αλλόφυλοι επί σε Σαμψών και το ένεδρον εκάθητο εν τω ταμείω και διέσπασεν αυτά από των βραχιόνων αυτού ωσεί ράμμα |
| 13And Dalida said to Sampson, Behold, thou hast deceived me, and told me lies; tell me, I intreat thee, wherewith thou mayest be bound: and he said to her, If thou shouldest weave the seven locks of my head with the web, and shouldest fasten them with the pin into the wall, then shall I be weak as another man. | και είπε Δαλιλά προς Σαμψών έως νυν παρελογίσω με και ελάλησας προς με ψευδή ανάγγειλον δη μοι εν τίνι δεθήση και είπε προς αυτήν εάν υφάνης τας επτά σειράς της κεφαλής μου μετά του διάσματος και εγκρούσης εν τω πασσάλω εις τον τοίχον και έσομαι ασθενής ως εις των ανθρώπων |
| 14And it came to pass when he was asleep, that Dalida took the seven locks of his head, and wove them with the web, and fastened them with the pin into the wall, and she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he awoke out of his sleep, and carried away the pin of the web out of the wall. | και εγένετο εν τω κοιμάσθαι αυτόν και έλαβε Δαλιλά τας επτά σειράς της κεφαλής αυτού και ύφανεν εν τω διάσματι και έπηξε τω πασσάλω εις τον τοίχον και είπεν προς αυτόν αλλόφυλοι επί σε Σαμψών και εξηγέρθη εκ του ύπνου αυτού και εξέσπασε τους πασσάλους εν τω υφάσματι εκ του τοίχου και το δίασμα και ουκ εγνώσθη η ισχύς αυτού |
| 15And Dalida said to Sampson, How sayest thou, I love thee, when thy heart is not with me? this third time thou hast deceived me, and hast not told me wherein is thy great strength. | και είπε προς αυτόν Δαλιλά πως ερείς ηγάπηκά σε και η καρδία σου ουκ έστι μετ΄ εμού τούτο τρίτον παρελογίσω με και ουκ απήγγειλάς μοι εν τίνι η ισχύς σου η μεγάλη |
| 16And it came to pass as she pressed him sore with her words continually, and straitened him, that his spirit failed almost to death. | και εγένετο ότε κατειργάσατο αυτόν εν τοις λόγοις αυτής όλην την νύκτα και παρηνώχλησεν αυτόν και ωλιγοψύχησεν έως εις θάνατον |
| 17Then he told her all his heart, and said to her, A razor has not come upon my head, because I have been a holy one of God from my mother's womb; if then I should be shaven, my strength will depart from me, and I shall be weak, and I shall be as all other men. | και απήγγειλεν αυτή πάντα τα από καρδίας αυτού και είπεν αυτή ξυρόν ουκ αναβήσεται επί την κεφαλήν μου ότι Ναζηραίος θεού εγώ ειμι εκ κοιλίας μητρός μου και εάν ξυρήσωμαι αποστήσεται απ΄ εμού η ισχύς μου και ασθενήσω και έσομαι κατά πάντας τους ανθρώπους |
| 18And Dalida saw that he told her all his heart, and she sent and called the princess of the Philistines, saying, Come up yet this once; for he has told me all his heart. And the chiefs of the Philistines went up to her, and brought the money in their hands. | και είδε Δαλιλά ότι απήγγειλεν αυτή πάσαν την καρδίαν αυτού και απέστειλε και εκάλεσε τους σατράπας των αλλοφύλων λέγουσα ανάβητε το άπαξ τούτο ότι απήγγειλέ μοι πάσαν την καρδίαν αυτού και ανέβησαν προς αυτήν πάσαι αι σατραπείαι των αλλοφύλων και ανήνεγκαν το αργύριον εν ταις χερσίν αυτών |
| 19And Dalida made Sampson sleep upon her knees; and she called a man, and he shaved the seven locks of his head, and she began to humble him, and his strength departed from him. | και εκοίμισε αυτόν αναμέσον των γονάτων αυτής και εκάλεσε τον κουρέα και εξυρήσε τους επτά βοστρύχους της κεφαλής αυτού και ήρξατο ταπεινούσθαι αυτόν και απέστη η ισχύς αυτού απ΄ αυτού |
| 20And Dalida said, The Philistines are upon thee, Sampson: and he awoke out of his sleep and said, I will go out as at former times, and shake myself; and he knew not that the Lord was departed from him. | και είπε Δαλιλά αλλόφυλοι επί σε Σαμψών και εξηγέρθη εκ του ύπνου αυτού και είπεν εξελεύσομαι και ποιήσω καθώς αεί και αποτινάξομαι και αυτός ουκ έγνω ότι ο κύριος απέστη απ΄ αυτού |
| 21And the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he ground in the prison-house. | και επελάβοντο αυτού οι αλλόφυλοι και εξώρυξαν τους οφθαλμούς αυτού και κατήνεγκαν αυτόν εις Γάζαν και έδησαν αυτόν εν πέδαις χαλκαίς και ην αλήθων εν οίκω της φυλακής |
| 22And the hair of his head began to grow as before it was shaven. | και ήρξατο η θριξ της κεφαλής αυτού βλαστάνειν καθώς εξυρήσατο |
| 23And the chiefs of the Philistines met to offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon, and to make merry; and they said, God has given into our hand our enemy Sampson. | και οι άρχοντες των αλλοφύλων συνήχθησαν του θύσαι θυσίαν μεγάλην τω Δαγών τω θεώ αυτών και του ευφρανθήναι και είπαν παρέδωκεν ο θεός ημών εν χειρί ημών Σαμψών τον εχθρόν ημών |
| 24And the people saw him, and sang praises to their god; for our god, said they, has delivered into our hand our enemy, who wasted our land, and who multiplied our slain. | και είδον αυτόν ο λαός και ήνεσαν τον θεόν αυτών ότι είπαν παρέδωκεν ο θεός ημών τον εχθρόν ημών εν χειρί ημών τον εξερημούντα την γην ημών όστις επλήθυνε τους τραυματίας ημών |
| 25And when their heart was merry, then they said, Call Sampson out of the prison-house, and let him play before us: and they called Sampson out of the prison-house, and he played before them; and they smote him with the palms of their hands, and set him between the pillars. | και εγένετο ότε ηγαθύνθη η καρδία αυτών και είπαν καλέσατε τον Σαμψών εξ οίκου φυλακής και παιξάτω ενώπιον ημών και εκάλεσαν τον Σαμψών εξ οίκου δεσμωτηρίου και ενέπαιζον αυτώ και έστησαν αυτόν αναμέσον των δύο στύλων |
| 26And Sampson said to the young man that held his hand, Suffer me to feel the pillars on which the house rests, and I will stay myself upon them. | και είπε Σαμψών προς τον παιδάριον τον χειραγωγούντα αυτόν άφες με και ψηλαφήσω τους κίονας εφ΄ ων ο οίκος επεστήρικτο επ΄ αυτών |
| 27And the house was full of men and woman, and there were all the chiefs of the Philistines, and on the roof were about three thousand men and woman looking at the sports of Sampson. | ο δε οίκος ην πλήρης των ανδρών και γυναικών και εκεί πάντες οι σατράπαι των αλλοφύλων και επί του δώματος ωσεί τρισχίλιοι άνδρες και γυναίκες εμβλέποντες εμπαιζόμενον τον Σαμψών |
| 28And Sampson wept before the Lord, and said, O Lord, my lord, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, O God, yet this once, and I will requite one recompense to the Philistines for my two eyes. | και εβόησε Σαμψών προς κύριον και είπε κύριε κύριε μνήσθητί μου και ενίσχυσόν με δη πλην και το άπαξ τούτο θεέ και εκδικήσω εκδίκησιν μίαν αντί των δύο οφθαλμών μου τοις αλλοφύλοις |
| 29And Sampson took hold of the two pillars of the house on which the house stood, and leaned on them, and laid hold of one with his right hand, and the other with his left. | και περιέλαβε Σαμψών τους δύο στύλους τους μέσους εφ΄ ουν ο οίκος ειστήκει και επεστήρικτο επ΄ αυτών ένα εν τη δεξιά αυτού και ένα εν τη αριστερά αυτού |
| 30And Sampson said, Let my wife perish with the Philistines: and he bowed himself mightily; and the house fell upon the princes, and upon all the people that were in it: and the dead whom Sampson slew in his death were more than those whom he slew in his life. | και είπε Σαμψών αποθανέτω η ψυχή μου μετά των αλλοφύλων και έκλινεν εν ισχύϊ και έπεσεν ο οικος επί τους σατράπας και επί πάντα τον λαόν τον εν αυτώ και ήσαν οι τεθνηκότες ους εθανάτωσε Σαμψών εν τω θανάτω αυτού πλείους υπέρ ους εθανάτωσεν εν τη ζωή αυτού |
| 31And his brethren and his father's house went down, and they took him; and they went up and buried him between Saraa and Esthaol in the sepulchre of his father Manoe; and he judged Israel twenty years. | και κατέβησαν οι αδελφοί αυτού και πας ο οίκος του πατρός αυτού και έλαβον αυτόν και ανέβησαν και έθαψαν αυτόν αναμέσον Σαραά και αναμέσον Εσθαόλ εν τω τάφω Μανώε του πατρός αυτού και αυτός έκρινε τον Ισραήλ είκοσι έτη |

| 1And there was a man of mount Ephraim, and his name was Michaias. | και εγένετο ανήρ εξ όρους Εφραϊμ και όνομα αυτού Μιχά |
| 2And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred pieces of silver which thou tookest of thyself, and about which thou cursedst me, and spokest in my ears, behold, the silver is with me; I took it: and his mother said, Blessed be my son of the Lord. | και είπε τη μητρί αυτού τους χιλίους και εκατόν αργυρίου τους συλληφθέντας σοι και εξώρκισας και είπας εν τοις ωσίν μου ιδού το αργύριον παρ΄ εμοί εγώ έλαβον αυτό και είπεν η μήτηρ αυτού ευλογημένος ο υιός μου εν τω κυρίω |
| 3And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly consecrated the money to the Lord out of my hand for my son, to make a graven and a molten image, and now I will restore it to thee. | και απέδωκε τους χιλίους και εκατόν του αργυρίου τη μητρί αυτού και είπεν η μήτηρ αυτού αγιαζμόν ηγίασα το αργύριον τω κυρίω εκ της χειρός μου κατά μόνας του ποιήσαι γλυπτόν και χωνευτόν και νυν αποδώσω αυτό σοι |
| 4But he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to a silversmith, and he made it a graven and a molten image; and it was in the house of Michaias. | και απέδωκε το αργύριον τη μητρί αυτού και έλαβεν η μήτηρ αυτού διακοσίους του αργυρίου και έδωκεν αυτό τω χωνευτή και εποίησεν αυτό γλυπτόν και χωνευτόν και εγένετο εν οίκω Μιχά |
| 5And the house of Michaias was to him the house of God, and he made an ephod and theraphin, and he consecrated one of his sons, and he became to him a priest. | και ο οίκος Μιχά αυτώ οίκος θεού και εποίησεν εφούδ και θεραφίν και ενέπλησε την χείρα ενός των υιών αυτού και εγενήθη αυτώ εις ιερέα |
| 6And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes. | εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις ουκ ην βασιλεύς εν Ισραήλ ανήρ το ευθές εν οφθαλμοίς αυτού εποίει |
| 7And there was a young man in Bethleem of the tribe of Juda, and he was a Levite, and he was sojourning there. | και εγένετο παιδάριον εκ Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα εκ της συγγενείας Ιούδα και αυτός Λευίτης και αυτός παρώκει εκεί |
| 8And the man departed from Bethleem the city of Juda to sojourn in whatever place he might find; and he came as far as mount Ephraim, and to the house of Michaias to accomplish his journey. | και επορεύθη ο ανήρ εκ της πόλεως Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα παροικείν ου αν εύρη και ήλθεν έως όρους Εφραϊμ και έως οίκου Μιχά του ποιήσαι οδόν αυτού |
| 9And Michaias said to him, Whence comest thou? and he said to him, I am a Levite of Bethleem Juda, and I go to sojourn in any place I may find. | και είπεν αυτώ Μιχά πόθεν έρχη και είπε προς αυτόν Λευίτης εγώ ειμι εκ Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα και εγώ πορεύομαι παροικείν ου αν εύρω |
| 10And Michaias said to him, Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest; and I will give thee ten pieces of silver by the year, and a change of raiment, and thy living. | και είπεν αυτώ Μιχά κάθου μετ΄ εμού και γίνου μοι εις πατέρα και εις ιερέα και εγώ δώσω σοι δέκα αργυρίου εις ημέρας και ζεύγος ιματίων και τα προς ζωή σου |
| 11And the Levite went and began to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons. | και επορεύθη ο Λευίτης και ήρξατο παροικείν παρά τω ανδρί και εγενήθη το παιδάριον αυτώ ως εις από υιών αυτού |
| 12And Michaias consecrated the Levite, and he became to him a priest, and he was in the house of Michaias. | και ενέπλησε Μιχά την χείρα του Λευίτου και εγενήθη αυτώ το παιδάριον εις ιερέα και ην εν τω οίκω Μιχά |
| 13And Michaias said, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, because a Levite has become my priest. | και είπε Μιχά νυν έγνων ότι αγαθοποίησέ μοι κύριος ότι εγενήθη μοι ο Λευίτης εις ιερέα |
Chapter 18[edit]
| 1In those days there was no king in Israel; and in those days the tribe of Dan sought for itself an inheritance to inhabit, because no inheritance had fallen to it until that day in the midst of the tribes of the children of Israel. | εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις ουκ ην βασιλεύς εν Ισραήλ και εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις η φυλή Δαν εζήτει εαυτή κληρονομίαν του κατοικείν ότι ουκ ενέπεσεν αυτή έως της ημέρας εκείνης εν μέσω φυλών Ισραήλ κληρονομία |
| 2And the sons of Dan sent from their families five men of valour, from Saraa and from Esthaol, to spy out the land and to search it; and they said to them, Go and search out the land. And they came as far as the mount of Ephraim to the house of Michaias and they lodged there, | και εξαπέστειλαν οι υιοί Δαν από δήμων αυτών πέντε άνδρας από μέρους αυτού άνδρας υιούς δυνάμεως από Σαραά και Εσθαόλ του κατασκέψασθαι την γην και εξιχνιάσαι αυτήν και είπαν προς αυτούς πορεύεσθε και εξερευνήσατε την γην και παρεγένοντο εις όρος Εφραϊμ έως οίκου Μιχά και κατέπαυσαν εκεί |
| 3in the house of Michaias, and they recognised the voice of the young man the Levite, and turned in thither; and said to him, Who brought thee in hither? and what doest thou in this place? and what hast thou here? | αυτών όντων παρά οίκω Μιχά και αυτοί έγνωσαν την φωνήν του παιδαρίου του Λευίτου και εξέκλιναν εκεί και είπαν αυτώ τις ήγαγέ σε ώδε και τι συ ποιείς ενταύθα και τι εστίν ώδε |
| 4And he said to them, Thus and thus did Michaias to me, and he hired me, and I became his priest. | και είπε προς αυτούς ούτω και ούτως εποίησέ μοι Μιχά και εμισθώσατό με και εγενήθην αυτώ εις ιερέα |
| 5And they said to him, Enquire now of God, and we shall know whether our way will prosper, on which we are going. | και είπον αυτώ επερώτησον δη εν τω θεώ και γνωσόμεθα ει κατευοδοί η οδός ημών ην ημείς πορευόμεθα επ΄ αυτήν |
| 6And the priest said to them, Go in peace; your way in which ye go, is before the Lord. | και είπεν αυτοίς ο ιερεύς πορεύεσθε εις ειρήνην ενώπιον κυρίου η οδός υμών καθ΄ ην πορεύεσθε εν αυτή |
| 7And the five men went on, and came to Laisa; and they saw the people in the midst of it dwelling securely, at ease as is the manner of the Sidonians, and there is no one perverting or shaming a matter in the land, no heir extorting treasures; and they are far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with any one. | και επορεύθησαν οι πέντε άνδρες και παρεγένοντο εις Λαισά και είδον τον λαόν τον εν αυτή κατοικούντα εν ελπίδι κατά την σύγκρισις των Σιδωνίων ησυχάζοντας εν ελπίδι και μη δυναμένους λαλήσαι ρήμα εν τη γη ότι μακράν εισιν από Σιδώνος και λόγος ουκ ην αυτοίς μετά Συρίας |
| 8And the five men came to their brethren to Saraa and Esthaol, and said to their brethren, Why sit ye here idle? | και παρεγένοντο οι πέντε άνδρες προς τους αδελφούς αυτών εις Σαραά και εις Εσθαόλ και έλεγον αυτοίς οι αδελφοί αυτών τι υμείς κάθησθε |
| 9And they said, Arise, and let us go up against them, for we have seen the land, and, behold, it is very good, yet ye are still: delay not to go, an to enter in to possess the land. | και είπαν ανάστητε και αναβώμεν επ΄ αυτούς ότι εωράκαμεν την γην και ιδού αγαθή σφόδρα και υμείς σιωπατε μη οκνήσητε του πορευθήναι και εισελθείν του κληρονομήσαι την γην |
| 10And whensoever ye shall go, ye shall come in upon a people secure, and the land is extensive, for God has given it into your hand; a place where there is no want of anything that the earth affords. | ηνίκα αν εισέλθητε ήξετε προς λαόν πεποιθότα και η γη ευρύχωρος ότι παρέδωκεν αυτήν ο θεός εν χειρί υμών τόπος όπου ουκ έστιν εκεί υστέρημα παντός ρήματος όσα εν τη γη |
| 11And there departed thence of the families of Dan, from Saraa and from Esthaol, six hundred men, girded with weapons of war. | και απήραν εκείθεν εκ συγγενείας του Δαν εκ Σαραά και από Εσθαόλ εξακόσιοι άνδρες περιεζωσμένοι σκεύη παρατάξεως |
| 12And they went up, and encamped in Cariathiarim in Juda; therefore it was called in that place the camp of Dan, until this day: behold, it is behind Cariathiarim. | και ανέβησαν και παρενέβαλον εν Καριαθιαρίμ εν Ιούδα διά τούτο εκλήθη τω τόπω εκείνω παρεμβολή Δαν έως της ημέρας ταύτης ιδού κατόπισθεν Καριαθιαρίμ |
| 13And they went on thence to the mount of Ephraim, and came to the house of Michaias. | και παρήλθον εκείθεν έως του όρους Εφραϊμ και ήλθον έως οίκου Μιχά |
| 14And the five men who went to spy out the land of Laisa answered, and said to their brethren, Ye know that there is in this place an ephod, and theraphin, and a graven and a molten image; and now consider what ye shall do. | και απεκρίθησαν οι πέντε άνδρες οι πορευθέντες κατασκέψασθαι την γην Λαισά και είπον προς τους αδελφούς αυτών ει οίδατε ότι έστιν εν τοις οίκοις τούτοις εφούδ και θεραφίν και γλυπτόν και χωνευτόν και νυν γνώτε τι ποιήσετε |
| 15And they turned aside there, and went into the house of the young man, the Levite, even into the house of Michaias, and asked him how he was. | και εξέκλιναν εκεί και εισήλθον εις τον οίκον του παιδαρίου του Λευίτου εις τον οίκον Μιχά και ηρώτησαν αυτόν εις ειρήνη |
| 16And the six hundred men of the sons of Dan who were girded with their weapons of war stood by the door of the gate. | και οι εξακόσιοι άνδρες περιεζωσμένοι σκεύη πολεμικά αυτών εστηλωμένοι παρά την θύραν του πυλώνος οι εκ των υιών Δαν |
| 17And the five men who went to spy out the land went up, and entered into the house of Michaias, and the priest stood. | και ανέβησαν οι πέντε άνδρες οι πορευόμενοι κατασκέψασθαι την γην και επελθόντες εκεί έλαβον το γλυπτόν και το εφούδ και το θεραφίμ και το χωνευτόν και ο ιερεύς εστηλωμένος παρά τη θύραν του πυλώνος και οι εξακόσιοι άνδρες οι περιεζωσμένοι σκεύη πολεμικά |
| 18And they took the graven image, and the ephod, and the theraphin, and the molten image; and the priest said to them, What are ye doing? | και ούτοι εισήλθον εις οίκον Μιχά και έλαβον το γλυπτόν και το εφούδ και το θεραφίν και το χωνευτόν και είπε προς αυτούς ο ιερεύς τι υμείς ποιείτε |
| 19And they said to him, Be silent, lay thine hand upon thy mouth, and come with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better for thee to be the priest of the house of one man, or to be the priest of a tribe and house for a family of Israel? | και είπαν προς αυτόν κώφευσον επίθες την χείρά σου επί το στόμα σου και ελθέ μεθ΄ ημών και έση ημίν εις πατέρα και εις ιερέα μη βέλτιον είναί σε ιερέα οίκου ανδρός ενός η γενέσθαι σε ιερέα φυλής και συγγενείας εν Ισραήλ |
| 20And the heart of the priest was glad, and he took the ephod, and the theraphin, and the graven image, and the molten image, and went in the midst of the people. | και ηγαθύνθη η καρδία του ιερέως και έλαβε το εφούδ και το θεραφίν και το γλυπτόν και το χωνευτόν και εισήλθεν εν μέσω του λαού |
| 21So they turned and departed, and put their children and their property and their baggage before them. | και επέστρεψαν και απήλθον και έθηκαν την τέκνα και την κτήσιν και το βάρος έμπροσθεν αυτών |
| 22They went some distance from the house of Michaias, and, behold, Michaias and the men in the houses near Michaias' house, cried out, and overtook the children of Dan. | αυτοί δε εμάκρυναν από οίκου Μιχά και ιδού Μιχά και οι άνδρες οι εν ταις οικίαις ταις μετά του οίκου Μιχά έκραζον και κατέλαβον τους υιούς Δαν |
| 23And the children of Dan turned their face, and said to Michaias, What is the matter with thee that thou hast cried out? | και εβόησαν προς υιούς Δαν και επέστρεψαν οι υιοί Δαν τα πρόσωπα αυτών και είπον προς Μιχά τι εστί σοι ότι έκραξας |
| 24And Michaias said, Because ye have taken my graven image which I made, and my priest, and are gone; and what have I remaining? and what is this that ye say to me, Why criest thou? | και είπε τους θεούς ους εποίησα ελάβετε και τον ιερέα και απήλθετε και τι μοι έτι και τι τούτό μοι λέγετε τι τούτο κράζεις |
| 25And the children of Dan said to him, Let not thy voice be heard with us, lest angry men run upon thee, and take away thy life, and the lives of thy house. | και είπον προς αυτόν οι υιοί Δαν μη ακουσθήτω η φωνή σου μεθ΄ ημών μή απαντήσωσιν υμίν άνδρες κατώδυνοι ψυχή και προσθήσεις την ψυχήν σου και την ψυχήν του οίκου σου |
| 26And the children of Dan went their way; and Michaias saw that they were stronger than himself, and he returned to his house. | και επορεύθησαν οι υιοί Δαν εις την οδόν αυτών και είδε Μιχά ότι ισχυρότεροι αυτού εισίν και εξένευσε και ανέστρεψεν εις τον οίκον αυτού |
| 27And the children of Dan took what Michaias had made, and the priest that he had, and they came to Laisa, to a people quiet and secure; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and burnt the city with fire. | και αυτοί έλαβον όσα εποίησε Μιχά και τον ιερέα ος ην αυτώ και ήλθον επί Λαισά επί λαόν ησυχάζοντα και πεποιθότα και επάταξαν αυτούς εν στόματι ρομφαίας και την πόλιν ενέπρησαν πυρί |
| 28And there was no deliverer, because the city is far from the Sidonians, and they have no intercourse with men, and it is in the valley of the house of Raab; and they built the city, and dwelt in it. | και ουκ έστιν ο εξαιρούμενος ότι μακράν εστιν από Σιδώνος και λόγος ουκ έστιν αυτοίς μετά ανθρώπου και αυτή εν τη κοιλάδι η εστιν του οίκου Ροάβ και ωκοδόμησαν την πόλιν και κατώκησαν εν αυτή |
| 29And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel; and the name of the city was Ulamais before. | και εκάλεσαν το όνομα της πόλεως Δαν κατά το όνομα Δαν του πατρός αυτών ος εγενήθη τω Ισραήλ και ην Λαίσ όνομα τω πόλει το πρότερον |
| 30And the children of Dan set up the graven image for themselves; and Jonathan son of Gerson son of Manasse, he and his sons were priests to the tribe of Dan till the time of the carrying away of the nation. | και έστησαν εαυτοίς οι υιοί Δαν το γλυπτόν και Ιωνάθαν υιός Γηρσών υιόυ Μανασσή αυτός και οι υιοί αυτού ήσαν ιερείς τη φυλή Δαν έως ημέρας της μετοικεσίας της γης |
| 31And they set up for themselves the graven image which Michaias made, all the days that the house of God was in Selom; and it was so in those days that there was no king in Israel. | και έταξαν εαυτοίς το γλυπτόν Μιχά εποίησε πάσας τας ημέρας όσας ην ο οίκος του θεού εν Σηλώ και εγένετο εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις ουκ ην βασιλεύς εν Ισραήλ |

| 1And there was a Levite sojourning in the sides of mount Ephraim, and he took to himself a concubine from Bethleem Juda. | και εγένετο ανήρ Λευίτης παροικών εν μηροίς όρους Εφραϊμ και έλαβεν εαυτώ γυναίκα παλλακήν από Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα |
| 2And his concubine departed from him, and went away from him to the house of her father to Bethleem Juda, and she was there four months. | και ωργίσθη αυτώ η παλλακή αυτού και απήλθε απ΄ αυτού εις τον οίκον του πατρός αυτής εις Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα και εγένετο εκεί ημέρας τετράμηνον |
| 3And her husband rose up, and went after her to speak kindly to her, to recover her to himself; and he had his young man with him, and a pair of asses; and she brought him into the house of her father; and the father of the damsel saw him, and was well pleased to meet him. | και ανέστη ο ανήρ αυτής και επορεύθη κατόπισθεν αυτής του λαλήσαι επί την καρδίαν αυτής του διαλλάξαι αυτήν και το παιδάριον αυτού μετ΄ αυτού και ζεύγος υποζυγίων και επορεύθη έως οίκου πατρός αυτής και είδεν αυτόν ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος και παρήν εις απάντησιν αυτού |
| 4And his father-in-law, the father of the damsel, constrained him, and he stayed with him for three days; and they ate and drank, and lodged there. | και εισήγαγεν αυτόν ο γαμβρός αυτού ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος και εκάθισε μετ΄ αυτού τρεις ημέρας και έφαγον και έπιον και ύπνωσαν εκεί |
| 5And it came to pass on the fourth day that they rose early, and he stood up to depart; and the father of the damsel said to his son-in-law, Strengthen thy heart with a morsel of bread, and afterwards ye shall go. | και εγενήθη τη ημέρα τη τετάρτη και ώρθρισαν τοπρωϊ και ανέστη του απελθείν και είπεν ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος προς τον νυμφίον αυτού στήρισον την καρδίαν σου κλάσματι άρτου και μετά τούτο πορεύσεσθε |
| 6So they two sat down together and ate and drank: and the father of the damsel said to her husband, Tarry now the night, and let thy heart be merry. | και εκάθισαν και έφαγον αμφότεροι επί το αυτό και έπιον και είπεν ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος προς τον άνδρα αρξάμενος αυλίσθητι και αγαθυνθήτω η καρδία σου |
| 7And the man rose up to depart; but his father-in-law constrained him, and he stayed and lodged there. | και ανέστη ο ανήρ απελθείν και εβιάσατο αυτόν ο γαμβρός αυτού και εκάθισε και ηυλίσθη εκεί |
| 8And he rose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart; and the father of the damsel said, Strengthen now thine heart, and quit thyself as a soldier till the day decline; and the two ate. | και ώρθρισε τοπρωϊ τη ημέρα τη πέμπτη του απελθείν και είπεν ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος στήρισον δη την καρδίαν σου άρτω και στρατεύθητι έως κλίνη την ημέραν και έφαγον και έπιον αμφότεροι |
| 9And the man rose up to depart, he and his concubine, and his young man; but his father-in-law the father of the damsel said to him, Behold now, the day has declined toward evening; lodge here, an let thy heart rejoice; and ye shall rise early to-morrow for your journey, and thou shalt go to thy habitation. | και ανέστη ο ανήρ του απελθείν αυτός και η παλλακή αυτού και το παιδάριον αυτού και είπεν αυτώ ο γαμβρός αυτού ο πατήρ της νεάνιδος ιδού δη κέκλικεν η ημέρα εις εσπέραν αυλίσθητι ώδε και αγαθυνθήτω η καρδία σου και ορθριείτε αύριον εις την οδόν υμών και απελεύση εις το σκήνωμά σου |
| 10But the man would not lodge there, but he arose and departed, and came to the part opposite Jebus, (this is Jerusalem,) and there was with him a pair of asses saddled, and his concubine was with him. | και ουκ ηθέλησεν ο ανήρ αυλισθήναι και ανέστη και απήλθε και παρεγένοντο έως απέναντι Ιεβούς αύτη εστίν Ιερουσαλήμ και μετ΄ αυτού ζεύγος υποζυγίων επισεσαγμένων και η παλλακή αυτού μετ΄ αυτού |
| 11And they came as far as Jebus: and the day had far advanced, and the young man said to his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn aside to this city of the Jebusites, and let us lodge in it. | αυτοί κατά Ιεβούς και η ημέρα κεκλικυία σφόδρα και είπε το παιδάριον προς τον κύριον αυτού δεύρο δη και εκκλίνωμεν εις την πόλιν του Ιεβουσαίου ταύτην και αυλισθώμεν εν αυτή |
| 12And his master said to him, We will not turn aside to a strange city, where there is not one of the children of Israel, but we will pass on as far as Gabaa. | και είπε προς αυτόν ο κυριός αυτού ου εκκλινούμεν εις πόλιν αλλοτρίου εν η ουκ έστιν εκ των υιών Ισραήλ και παρελευσόμεθα έως Γαβαά |
| 13And he said to his young man, Come, and let us draw nigh to one of the places, and we will lodge in Gabaa or in Rama. | και είπε τω παιδαρίω αυτού δεύρο και εγγίσωμεν ενί των τόπων και αυλισθώμεν εν Γαβαά η εν Ραμά |
| 14And they passed by and went on, and the sun went down upon them near to Gabaa, which is in Benjamin. | και παρήλθον και έδυ αυτοίς ο ήλιος εχόμενα της Γαβαά η εστι του Βενιαμίν |
| 15And they turned aside thence to go in to lodge in Gabaa; and they went in, and sat down in the street of the city, and there was no one who conducted them into a house to lodge. | και εξέκλιναν εκεί του εισελθείν καταλύσαι εν Γαβαά και εισήλθε και εκάθισεν εν τη πλατεία της πόλεως και ουκ έστιν ανήρ ο συνάγων αυτούς εις τον οίκον του καταλύσαι |
| 16And behold, an old man came out of the field from his work in the evening; and the man was of mount Ephraim, and he sojourned in Gabaa, and the men of the place were sons of Benjamin. | και ιδού ανήρ πρεσβύτης εισήλθεν από των έργων αυτού εξ του αγρού εσπέρας και ο ανήρ εξ όρους Εφραϊμ και αυτός παρώκει εν Γαβαά και οι άνδρες του τόπου υιοί Βενιαμίν |
| 17And he lifted up his eyes, and saw a traveller in the street of the city; and the old man said to him, Whither goest thou, and whence comest thou? | και αναβλέψας τοις οφθαλμοίς αυτού και είδε τον άνδρα τον οδοιπόρον εν τη πλατεία της πόλεως και είπεν ο ανήρ ο πρεσβύτης που πορεύη και πόθεν έρχη |
| 18And he said to him, We are passing by from Bethleem Juda to the sides of mount Ephraim: I am from thence, and I went as far as Bethleem Juda, and I am going home, and there is no man to take me into his house. | και είπε προς αυτόν διαβαίνομεν ημείς εκ Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα έως μηρόν όρους Εφραϊμ εκείθεν δε εγώ ειμι και επορεύθην έως Βηθλεέμ Ιούδα και εις τον οίκον μου εγώ αποτρέχω και ουκ έστιν ανήρ συνάγων με εις την οικίαν |
| 19Yet is there straw and food for our asses, and bread and wine for me and my handmaid and the young man with thy servants; there is no want of anything. | και γε άχυρα και χορτάσματα υπάρχει τοις όνοις ημών και γε άρτος και οίνος υπάρχει μοι και τη παιδίσκη και τω νεανίσκω τοις δούλοις σου ουκ έστιν υστέρημα παντός πράγματος |
| 20And the old man said, Peace be to thee; only be every want of thine upon me, only do thou by no means lodge in the street. | και είπεν ο ανήρ ο πρεσβύτης ειρήνη σοι πλην παν το υστέρημά σου επ΄ εμέ πλην εν τη πλατεία μη καταλύσης |
| 21And he brought him into his house, and made room for his asses; and they washed their feet, and ate and drank. | και εισήγαγεν αυτόν εις την οικίαν αυτού και παρενέβαλε τοις υποζυγίοις αυτού και αυτοί ενίψαντο τους πόδας αυτών και έφαγον και έπιον |
| 22And they were comforting their heart, when, behold, the men of the city, sons of transgressors, compassed the house, knocking at the door: and they spoke to the old man the owner of the house, saying, Bring out the man who came into thy house, that we may know him. | αυτών δε αγαθυνθέντων τη καρδία αυτών και ιδού οι άνδρες της πόλεως υιοί παρανόμων περιεκύκλωσαν την οικίαν και έκρουσαν επί την θύραν και είπον προς τον άνδρα τον κύριον της οικίας τον πρεσβύτην λέγοντες εξάγαγε τον άνδρα τον εισελθόντα εις την οικίαν σου ίνα γνώμεν αυτόν |
| 23And the master of the house came out to them, and said, Nay, brethren, do not ye wrong, I pray you, after this man has come into my house; do not ye this folly. | και εξήλθε προς αυτούς ο ανήρ ο κύριος του οίκου και είπε προς αυτούς μηδαμώς αδελφοί μου μη πονηρεύσησθε δη μετά το εισελθείν τον άνδρα τούτον εις την οικίαν μου μη ποιήσητε την αφροσύνην ταύτην |
| 24Behold my daughter a virgin, and the man's concubine: I will bring them out, and humble ye them, and do to them that which is good in your eyes; but to this man do not this folly. | ιδού θυγάτηρ μου η παρθένος και η παλλακή αυτού εξάξω δε αυτάς και ταπεινώσατε αυτάς και ποιήσατε αυταίς το αγαθόν εν οφθαλμοίς υμών και τω ανδρί τούτω μη ποιήσητε το ρήμα της αφροσύνης ταύτης |
| 25But the men would not consent to hearken to him; so the man laid hold of his concubine, and brought her out to them; and they knew her, and abused her all night till the morning, and let her go when the morning dawned. | και ουκ ηθέλησαν οι άνδρες ακούσαι αυτού και επελάβετο ο ανήρ της παλλακής αυτού και εξήγαγεν αυτήν προς αυτούς έξω και έγνωσαν αυτήν και ενέπαιξαν αυτή όλην την νύκτα έως τοπρωϊ και εξαπέστειλαν αυτήν άμα τω ανέβη τον όρθρον |
| 26And the woman came toward morning, and fell down at the door of the house where her husband was, until it was light. | και ήλθεν η γυνή τοπρωϊ και έπεσε παρά την θύραν του πυλώνος του οίκου του ανδρός ου ην ο κυριός αυτής εκεί έως ου διέφαυσε |
| 27And her husband rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went forth to go on his journey; and, behold, the woman his concubine had fallen down by the doors of the house, and her hands were on the threshold. | και ανέστη ο κυριός αυτής τοπρωϊ και ήνοιξε τας θύρας του οίκου και εξήλθε του απελθείν εις την οδόν αυτού και ιδού η γυνή η παλλακή αυτού πεπτωκυία παρά την θύραν του οίκου και αι χείρες αυτής επί το πρόθυρον |
| 28And he said to her, Rise, and let us go; and she answered not, for she was dead: and he took her upon his ass, and went to his place. | και είπε προς αυτήν ανάστηθι και απέλθωμεν και ουκ απεκρίθη αυτώ αλλά τεθνήκει και ανέλαβεν αυτήν επί το υποζύγιον και ανέστη ο ανήρ και απήλθεν εις τον τόπον αυτού |
| 29And he took his sword, and laid hold of his concubine, and divided her into twelve parts, and sent them to every coast of Israel. | και εισήλθεν εις τον οίκον αυτού και έλαβε την μάχαιραν και επελάβετο της παλλακής αυτού και εμέλισεν αυτήν κατά τα όστα αυτής εις δώδεκα μερίδας και απέστειλεν αυτά εις πάσας τας φυλάς Ισραήλ |
| 30And it was so, that every one who saw it said, Such a day as this has not happened nor has been seen from the day of the going up of the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt until this day: take ye counsel concerning it, and speak. | και εγένετο πας ο ορών έλεγεν ούτε εγενήθη ούτε ώφθη ούτως από της ημέρας αναβάσεως υιών Ισραήλ εκ γης Αιγύπτου έως της ημέρας ταύτης θέσθε δη εαυτοίς περί αυτής βουλήν και λαλήσατε |

| 1And all the children of Israel went out, and all the congregation was gathered as one man, from Dan even to Bersabee, and in the land of Galaad, to the Lord at Massepha. | και εξήλθον πάντες οι υιοί Ισραήλ και εξεκκλησιάσθη η συναγωγή ως ανήρ εις από Δαν και έως Βηρσαβαιέ και γης Γαλαάδ προς κύριον εις Μασσηφά |
| 2And all the tribes of Israel stood before the Lord in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword. | και έστη το κλίμα παντός του λαού πάσαι αι φυλαί του Ισραήλ εν τη εκκλησία του λαού του θεού τετρακόσιαι χιλιάδες ανδρών πεζών σπωμένων ρομφαίαν |
| 3And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel were gone up to Massepha: and the children of Israel came and said, Tell us, where did this wickedness take place? | και ήκουσαν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν ότι ανέβησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εις Μασσηφά και είπαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ λαλήσατε που εγένετο η κακία αύτη |
| 4And the Levite, the husband of the woman that was slain, answered and said, I and my concubine went to Gabaa of Benjamin to lodge. | και απεκρίθη ο ανήρ ο Λευίτης ο ανήρ της γυναικός της πεφονευμένης και είπεν εις Γαβαά της Βενιαμίν ήλθον εγώ και η παλλακή μου του καταλύσαι |
| 5And the men of Gabaa rose up against me, and compassed the house by night against me; they wished to slay me, and they have humbled my concubine, and she is dead. | και ανέστησαν επ΄ εμέ οι άνδρες οι της Γαβαά και περιεκύκλωσαν επ΄ εμέ επί την οικίαν νυκτός και εμέ ηθέλησαν αποκτείναι και την παλλακήν μου εταπείνωσαν και ενέπαιξαν αυτή και απέθανεν |
| 6And I laid hold of my concubine, and divided her in pieces, and sent the parts into every coast of the inheritance of the children of Israel; for they have wrought lewdness and abomination in Israel. | και επελαβόμην της παλλακής μου και εμέλισα αυτήν και εξαπέστειλα εν παντί ορίω κληρονομίας Ισραήλ ότι εποίησαν αφροσύνην εν Ισραήλ |
| 7Behold, all ye are children of Israel; and consider and take counsel here among yourselves. | ιδού πάντες υμείς οι υιοί Ισραήλ δότε αυτοίς λόγον και βουλήν ώδε |
| 8And all the people rose up as one man, saying, No one of us shall return to his tent, and no one of us shall return to his house. | και ανέστη πας ο λαός ως ανήρ εις λέγων ουκ εισελευσόμεθα ανήρ εις το σκήνωμα αυτού και ουκ εκκλινούμεν ανήρ εις τον οίκον αυτού |
| 9And now this is the thing which shall be done in Gabaa; we will go up against it by lot. | και νυν το ρήμα τούτο ο ποιήσομεν τη Γαβαά αναβησόμεθα επ΄ αυτήν εν κλήρω |
| 10Moreover we will take ten men for a hundred for all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred for a thousand, and a thousand for ten thousand, to take provision, to cause them to come to Gabaa of Benjamin, to do to it according to all the abomination, which they wrought in Israel. | και ληψόμεθα δέκα άνδρας τοις εκατόν εις πάσας φυλάς Ισραήλ και εκατόν τοις χιλίοις και χιλίους τοις μυρίοις λαβείν επισιτισμόν τω λαώ επιτελέσαι τοις εις πορευομένοις εις την Γαβαά του Βενιαμίν κατά πάσαν την αφροσύνην ην εποίησαν εν Ισραήλ |
| 11And all the men of Israel were gathered to the city as one man. | και συνήχθη πας ανήρ Ισραήλ εις την πόλιν ως ανήρ εις ερχόμενοι |
| 12And the tribes of Israel sent men through the whole tribe of Benjamin, saying, What is this wickedness that has been wrought among you? | και εξαπέστειλαν αι φυλαί Ισραήλ άνδρας εν πάση φυλή Βενιαμίν λέγοντες τις η κακία αύτη η γενομένη εν υμίν |
| 13Now then give up the men the sons of transgressors that are in Gabaa, and we will put them to death, and purge out wickedness from Israel: but the children of Benjamin consented not to hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel. | και νυν δότε τους άνδρας τους ασεβείς τους εν Γαβαά τους υιούς βελίαλ και θανατώσομεν αυτούς και εξαρούμεν κακίαν εξ Ισραήλ και ουκ ηθέλησαν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν ακούσαι της φωνής των αδελφών αυτών υιών Ισραήλ |
| 14And the children of Benjamin were gathered from their cities to Gabaa, to go forth to fight with the children of Israel. | και συνήχθησαν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν εκ των πόλεων αυτών εις Γαβαά εξελθείν εις παράταξιν προς υιούς Ισραήλ |
| 15And the children of Benjamin from their cities were numbered in that day, twenty-three thousand, every man drawing a sword, besides the inhabitants of Gabaa, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men of all the people, able to use both hands alike; | και επεσκέπησαν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη εκ των πόλεων είκοσι και πέντε χιλιάδες ανδρών σπωμένων ρομφαίαν χωρίς των κατοικούντων την Γαβαά |
| 16All these could sling with stones at a hair, and not miss. | ούτοι επεσκέπησαν επτακόσιοι άνδρες εκλεκτοί εκ παντός του λαού αμφοτεροδέξιοι πάντες ούτοι σφενδονήται βάλλοντες λίθοις προς την τρίχα και ου διαμαρτάνοντες |
| 17And the men of Israel, exclusive of Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword; all these were men of war. | και πας ανήρ Ισραήλ επεσκέπησαν χωρίς των υιών του Βενιαμίν τετρακόσιαι χιλιάδες ανδρών σπωμένων ρομφαίαν πάντες ούτοι άνδρες πολεμισταί |
| 18And they arose and went up to Baethel, and enquired of God: and the children of Israel said, Who shall go up for us first to fight with the children of Benjamin? And the Lord said, Juda shall go up first as leader. | και ανέστησαν και ανέβησαν εις Βαιθήλ και επηρώτησαν εν τω θεώ και είπαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ τις αναβήσεται ημίν αφηγούμενος πολεμήσαι μετά των υιών Βενιαμίν και είπε κύριος Ιούδας αναβήσεται αφηγούμενος |
| 19And the children of Israel rose up in the morning, and encamped against Gabaa. | και ανέστησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ τοπρωϊ και παρενέβαλον επί Γαβαά |
| 20And they went out, all the men of Israel, to fight with Benjamin, and engaged with them at Gabaa. | και εξήλθον πας ανήρ Ισραήλ εις πόλεμον μετά Βενιαμίν και παρετάξαντο μετ΄ αυτών ανήρ Ισραήλ εις πόλεμον προς την Γαβαά |
| 21And the sons of Benjamin went forth from Gabaa, and they destroyed in Israel on that day two and twenty thousand men down to the ground. | και εξήλθον οι υιοί Βενιαμίν εκ της πόλεως και διέφθειραν εν Ισραήλ εν τη ημέρα εκείνη δύο και είκοσι χιλιάδας ανδρών επί την γην |
| 22And the men of Israel strengthened themselves, and again engaged in battle in the place where they had engaged on the first day. | και ενίσχυσαν ο λαός ανήρ Ισραήλ και προσέθεντο παρατάξασθαι πόλεμον εν τω τόπω ω παρετάξαντο εκεί εν τη ημέρα τη πρώτη |
| 23And the children of Israel went up, and wept before the Lord till evening, and enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall we again draw nigh to battle with our brethren the children of Benjamin? and the Lord said, Go up against them. | και ανέβησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ και έκλαυσαν ενώπιον κυρίου έως εσπέρας και επηρώτησαν εν κυρίω λέγοντες ει προσθώ προσεγγίσαι εις πόλεμον μετά υιών Βενιαμίν του αδελφού μου και είπε κύριος ανάβητε προς αυτόν |
| 24And the children of Israel advanced against the children of Benjamin on the second day. | και προσήλθοσαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς υιούς Βενιαμίν εν τη ημέρα τη δευτέρα |
| 25And the children of Benjamin went forth to meet them from Gabaa on the second day, and destroyed of the children of Israel yet further eighteen thousand men down to the ground: all these drew sword. | και εξήλθε Βενιαμίν εις απάντησιν αυτοίς εκ της Γαβαά εν τη ημέρα τη δευτέρα και διέφθειραν έτι εκ του λαού Ισραήλ οκτωκαίδεκα χιλιάδας ανδρών επί την γην πάντες ούτοι εσπασμένοι ρομφαίαν |
| 26And the children of Israel and all the people went up, and came to Baethel; and they wept, and sat there before the Lord; and they fasted on that day until evening, and offered whole-burnt-offerings and perfect sacrifices, before the Lord, | και ανέβησαν πάντες οι υιοί Ισραήλ και πας ο λαός και ήλθοσαν εις Βαιθήλ και έκλαυσαν και εκάθισαν εκεί έναντι κυρίου και ενήστευσαν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη έως εσπέρας και ανήνεγκαν ολοκαύτωμα σωτηρίου έναντι κυρίου |
| 27for the ark of the Lord God was there in those days, | και επηρώτησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν κυρίω και εκεί η κιβωτός διαθήκης κυρίου εν ταις ημέρας εκείναις |
| 28and Phinees the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron stood before it in those days; and the children of Israel enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall we yet again go forth to fight with our brethren the sons of Benjamin? and the Lord said, Go up, to-morrow I will give them into your hands. | και Φινεές υιός Ελεάζαρ υιόυ Ααρών παρεστηκώς ενώπιον αυτής εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις λέγων ει προσθήσω έτι εξελθείν εις πόλεμον μετά υιών Βενιαμίν του αδελφού μου η κοπάσω και είπε κύριος ανάβητε και αύριον παραδώσω αυτόν εν τη χειρί σου |
| 29And the children of Israel set an ambush against Gabaa round about it. | και έθηκαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ ένεδρα εν τη Γαβαά κύκλω |
| 30And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and arrayed themselves against Gabaa as before. | και ανέβησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ προς τον υιούς Βενιαμίν εν τη ημέρα τη τρίτη και παρετάξαντο προς την Γαβαά καθώς άπαξ και άπαξ |
| 31And the children of Benjamin went out to meet the people, and were all drawn out of the city, and began to smite and slay the people as before in the roads, whereof one goes up to Baethel, and one to Gabaa in the field, about thirty men of Israel. | και εξήλθον οι υιοί Βενιαμίν εις απάντησιν του λαού και εξειλκύσθησαν εκ της πόλεως και ήρξαντο τύπτειν εκ του λαού τραυματίας καθώς άπαξ και άπαξ εν ταις οδοίς ων εστί μία αναβαίνουσα εις Βαιθήλ και μία αναβαίνουσα εις Γαβαά εν αγρώ ωσεί τριάκοντα άνδρας εν τω Ισραήλ |
| 32And the children of Benjamin said, They fall before us as at the first: but the children of Israel said, Let us flee, and draw them out from the city into the roads; and they did so. | και είπαν οι υιοί Βενιαμίν προσκόπτονται αυτοί ενώπιον ημών καθώς έμπροσθεν και οι υιοί Ισραήλ είπαν φύγωμεν και εκσπάσωμεν αυτούς εκ της πόλεως εις τας οδούς |
| 33And all the men rose up out of their places, and engaged in Baal Thamar; and the liers in wait of Israel advanced from their place from Maraagabe. | και πας ανήρ Ισραήλ ανέστη εκ του τόπου αυτού και παρετάξαντο εν Βααλθαμάρ και το ένεδρον Ισραήλ επάλαιεν εκ του τόπου αυτού από δυσμών της Γαβαά |
| 34And there came over against Gabaa ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel; and the fight was severe; and they knew not that evil was coming upon them. | και παρεγένοντο εξεναντίας Γαβαά δέκα χιλιάδες ανδρών εκλεκτών εκ παντός Ισραήλ και ο πόλεμος εβαρύνθη και αυτοί ουκ έγνωσαν ότι αφήπται επ΄ αυτούς η κακία |
| 35And the Lord smote Benjamin before the children of Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of Benjamin in that day a hundred and twenty-five thousand men: all these drew sword. | και ετρόπωσε κύριος τον Βενιαμίν κατά πρόσωπον Ισραήλ και διέφθειραν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν τω Βενιαμίν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη είκοσι και πέντε χιλιάδας και εκατόν άνδρας πάντες ούτοι σπώμενοι ρομφαίαν |
| 36And the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten; and the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted in the ambuscade which they had prepared against Gabaa. | και είδον οι υιοί Βενιαμίν ότι τετρόπωνται και έδωκεν ανήρ Ισραήλ τω Βενιαμίν τόπον ότι ήλπισαν επί το ένεδρον ο έταξαν προς την Γαβαά |
| 37And when they retreated, then the liers in wait rose up, and they moved toward Gabaa, and the whole ambush came forth, and they smote the city with the edge of the sword. | και το ένεδρον ώρμησε και εξεχύθησαν προς την Γαβαά και επορεύθη το ένεδρον και επάταξαν όλην την πόλιν εν στόματι ρομφαίας |
| 38And the children of Israel had a signal of battle with the liers in wait, that they should send up a signal of smoke from the city. | και η συνταγή ην ανήρ Ισραήλ προς το ένεδρον του ανενέγκαι αυτούς πυρσόν του καπνού από της πόλεως |
| 39And the children of Israel saw that the liers in wait had seized Gabaa, and they stood in line of battle; and Benjamin began to smite down wounded ones among the men of Israel about thirty men; for they said, Surely they fall again before us, as in the first battle. | και ανέστρεψεν ανήρ Ισραήλ εν τω πολέμω και Βενιαμίν ήρκται του τύπτειν τραυματίας εν τω ανδρί Ισραήλ ως τριάκοντα άνδρας ότι είπαν πλην τροπούμενος τροπούται αυτος εναντίον ημών καθώς ο πόλεμος ο έμπροσθεν |
| 40And the signal went up increasingly over the city as a pillar of smoke; and Benjamin looked behind him, and behold the destruction of the city went up to heaven. | και ο πυρσός ήρξατο αναβαίνειν εκ της πόλεως στύλος καπνού και επέβλεψε Βενιαμίν οπίσω αυτού και ιδού ανέβη συντέλεια της πόλεως εις τον ουρανόν |
| 41And the men of Israel turned back, and the men of Benjamin hasted, because they saw that evil had come upon them. | και ανήρ Ισραήλ επέστρεψε και έσπευσεν ανήρ Βενιαμίν και είδεν ότι ήπται αυτού η κακία |
| 42And they turned to the way of the wilderness from before the children of Israel, and fled: but the battle overtook them, and they from the cities destroyed them in the midst of them. | και έκλιναν ενώπιον ανδρός Ισραήλ εις την οδόν της ερήμου και ο πόλεμος κατέφθασεν επ΄ αυτούς και οι από των πόλεων διέφθειρον αυτούς εν μέσω αυτών |
| 43And they cut down Benjamin, and pursued him from Nua closely till they came opposite Gabaa on the east. | και κατέκοψαν τον Βενιαμίν και εδίωξαν αυτόν κατα πόδας αυτού και κατεπάτησαν αυτόν έως εναντίας Γαβαά προς ανατολάς ηλίου |
| 44And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men: all these were men of might. | και έπεσαν εκ του Βενιαμίν οκτωκαίδεκα χιλιάδες ανδρών οι πάντες ούτοι άνδρες δυνατοί |
| 45And the rest turned, and fled to the wilderness to the rock of Remmon; and the children of Israel picked off of them five thousand men; and the children of Israel went down after them as far as Gedan, and they smote of them two thousand men. | και εξέκλιναν και έφευγον εις την έρημον προς την πέτραν του Ρεμμών και εκαλαμήσαντο αυτόν εν ταις οδοίς πέντε χιλιάδες ανδρών και προσεκολλήθησαν οπίσω αυτού έως Γαδαάμ και επάταξαν εξ αυτών δισχιλίους άνδρας |
| 46And all that fell of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men that drew sword in that day: all these were men of might. | και εγένοντο πάντες οι πεπτωκότες εν τω Βενιαμίν εικοσιπέντε χιλιάδες ανδρών σπωμένων ρομφαίαν εν τη ημέρα εκείνη οι πάντες ούτοι άνδρες δυνάμεως |
| 47And the rest turned, and fled to the wilderness to the rock of Remmon, even six hundred men; and they sojourned four months in the rock of Remmon. | και εξέκλιναν και έφυγον εις την έρημον προς την πέτραν του Ρεμμών εξακόσιοι άνδρες και εκάθισαν εν πέτρα Ρεμμών τετράμηνον |
| 48And the children of Israel returned to the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword from the city of Methla, even to the cattle, and every thing that was found in all the cities: and they burnt with fire the cities they found. | και ανήρ Ισραήλ ανέστρεψαν εις τους υιούς Βενιαμίν και επάταξαν αυτούς εν στόματι ρομφαίας από πόλεως εξής έως κτήνους και έως παντός του ευρεθέντος εις τας πόλεις και τας πόλεις τας ευρεθείσας ενέπρησαν εν πυρί |

| 1Now the children of Israel swore in Massephath, saying, No man of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin for a wife. | και ανήρ Ισραήλ ώμοσεν εν Μασσηφά λέγοντες ανήρ εξ ημών ου δώσει θυγατέρα αυτού τω Βενιαμίν εις γυναίκα |
| 2And the people came to Baethel, and sat there until evening before God: and they lifted up their voice and wept with a great weeping; | και παρεγένοντο πας ο λαός εις Βαιθήλ και εκάθισαν εκεί έως εσπέρας ενώπιον του θεού και επήραν την φωνήν αυτών και έκλαυσαν κλαυθμόν μέγαν |
| 3and said, Wherefore, O Lord God of Israel, has this come to pass, that to-day one tribe should be counted as missing from Israel? | και είπαν ινατί κύριε θεέ Ισραήλ εγενήθη τούτο εν τω Ισραήλ του επισκεπήναι σήμερον εν τω Ισραήλ φυλήν μίαν |
| 4And it came to pass on the morrow that the people rose up early, and built there an altar, and offered up whole-burnt-offerings and peace offerings. | και εγένετο τη επαύριον και ώρθρισαν ο λαός και ωκοδόμησαν εκεί θυσιαστήριον και ανήνεγκαν ολοκαύτωμα σωτηρίου |
| 5And the children of Israel said, Who of all the tribes of Israel, went not up in the congregation to the Lord? for there was a great oath concerning those who went not up to the Lord to Massephath, saying, He shall surely be put to death. | και είπον οι υιοί Ισραήλ τις ο μη αναβάς εν τη εκκλησία εκ πασών φυλών Ισραήλ προς κύριον ότι ο όρκος μέγας ην τω μη αναβάντι προς κύριον εις Μασσηφά λέγοντες θανάτω αποθανείται |
| 6And the children of Israel relented toward Benjamin their brother, and said, To-day one tribe is cut off from Israel. | και παρεκλήθησαν οι υιοί Ισραήλ περί Βενιαμίν του αδελφού αυτών και είπαν αφήρηται σήμερον φυλή μία εξ Ισραήλ |
| 7What shall we do for wives for the rest that remain? whereas we have sworn by the Lord, not to give them of our daughters for wives. | τι ποιήσωμεν αυτοίς τοις υπολειφθείσιν εις γυναίκας και ημείς ωμόσαμεν τω κυρίω του μη δούναι αυτοίς από των θυγατέρων ημών εις γυναίκας |
| 8And they said, What one man is there of the tribes of Israel, who went not up to the Lord to Massephath? and, behold, no man came to the camp from Jabis Galaad to the assembly. | και είπαν τις μία των φυλών Ισραήλ ήτις ουκ ανέβη προς κύριον εις Μασσηφά και ιδού ουκ ήλθεν ανήρ εις την παρεμβολήν από Ιαβίς Γαλαάδ εις την εκκλησίαν |
| 9And the people were numbered, and there was not there a man from the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad. | και επεσκέπη ο λαός και ιδού ουκ έστιν εκεί ανήρ από των κατοικούντων Ιαβίς Γαλαάδ |
| 10And the congregation sent thither twelve thousand men of the strongest, and they charged them, saying, Go ye and smite the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad with the edge of the sword. | και απέστειλεν εκεί η συναγωγή δώδεκα χιλιάδας ανδρών από των υιών της δυνάμεως και ενετείλαντο αυτοίς λέγοντες πορεύθητε και πατάξατε πάντας τους κατοικούντας Ιαβίς Γαλαάδ εν στόματι ρομφαίας και τας γυναίκας και τον λαόν |
| 11And this shall ye do: every male and every woman that has known the lying with man ye shall devote to destruction, but the virgins ye shall save alive: and they did so. | και ούτος ο λόγος ον ποιήσετε παν αρσενικόν και πάσαν γυναίκα γινώσκουσαν κοίτην άρσενος αναθεματιείτε |
| 12And they found among the inhabitants of Jabis Galaad four hundred young virgins, who had not known man by lying with him; and they brought them to Selom in the land of Chanaan. | και εύρον από κατοικούντων Ιαβίς Γαλαάδ τετρακοσίας νεάνιδας παρθένους αι ουκ έγνωσαν άνδρα εις κοίτην άρσενος και ήγαγον αυτάς εις την παρεμβολήν εις Σηλώ η εστιν εν γη Χαναάν |
| 13And all the congregation sent and spoke to the children of Benjamin in the rock Remmon, and invited them to make peace. | και απέστειλαν πάσα η συναγωγή και ελάλησαν προς τους υιούς Βενιαμίν τους εν τη πέτρα Ρεμμών και εκάλεσαν αυτούς εις ειρήνην |
| 14And Benjamin returned to the children of Israel at that time, and the children of Israel gave them the women whom they had save alive of the daughters of Jabis Galaad; and they were content. | και επέστρεψε Βενιαμίν προς τους υιούς Ισραήλ εν τω καιρώ εκείνω και έδωκαν αυτοίς τας γυναίκας αίτινες ήσαν εκ των γυναικών Ιαβίς Γαλαάδ και ήρεσεν αυτοίς ούτως |
| 15And the people relented for Benjamin, because the Lord had made a breach in the tribes of Israel. | και ο λαός παρεκλήθη επί τω Βενιαμίν ότι εποίησε ο κύριος διακοπήν εν ταις φυλαίς Ισραήλ |
| 16And the elders of the congregation said, What shall we do for wives for them that remain? for the women have been destroyed out of Benjamin. | και είπον οι πρεσβύτεροι της συναγωγής τι ποιήσομεν τοις επιλοίποις εις τας γυναίκας ότι ηφανίσθη εκ του Βενιαμίν γυνή |
| 17And they said, There must be an inheritance of them that are escaped of Benjamin; and so a tribe shall not be destroyed out of Israel. | και είπεν κληρονομία διασεσωσμένη τω Βενιαμίν και ου εξαλειφθή φυλή εξ Ισραήλ |
| 18For we shall not be able to give them wives of our daughters, because we swore among the children of Israel, saying, Cursed is he that gives a wife to Benjamin. | και ημείς ου δυνησόμεθα δούναι αυτοίς γυναίκας από των θυγατέρων ημών ότι ωμόσαμεν οι υιοίς Ισραήλ λέγοντες επικατάρατος ο διδούς γυναίκα τω Βενιαμίν |
| 19And they said, Lo! now there is a feast of the Lord from year to year in Selom, which is on the north of Baethel, eastward on the way that goes up from Baethel to Sychem, and from the south of Lebona. | και είπαν ιδού εορτή τω κυρίω εν Σηλώ αφ΄ ημερών εις ημέρας η εστιν από βορρά της Βαιθήλ κατ΄ ανατολάς ηλίου εν τω διόδω τη αναβαινούση εκ Βαιθήλ εις Σίκιμα και από νότου της Λεβωνά |
| 20And they charged the children of Benjamin, saying, Go and lie in wait in the vineyards; | και ενετείλαντο τοις υιοίς Βενιαμίν λέγοντες απέλθατε και ενεδρεύσατε εν τοις αμπελώσι |
| 21and ye shall see; and lo! if there come out the daughters of the inhabitants of Selom to dance in dances, then shall ye go out of the vineyards and seize for yourselves every man a wife of the daughters of Selom, and go ye into the land of Benjamin. | και όψεσθε και ιδού ως αν εξέλθωσιν αι θυγατέρες των κατοικούντων Σηλώ χορεύουσαι εν χοροίς και εξελεύσεσθε από των αμπελώνων και αρπάσατε εαυτώ ανήρ γυναίκα από των θυγατέρων Σηλώ και απελεύσεσθε εις την γην Βενιαμίν |
| 22And it shall come to pass, when their fathers or their brethren come to dispute with us, that we will say to them, Grant them freely to us, for we have not taken every man his wife in the battle: because ye did not give to them according to the occasion, ye transgressed. | και έσται όταν έλθωσιν οι πατέρες αυτών η οι αδελφοί αυτών κρίνεσθαι προς ημάς και ερούμεν προς αυτούς ελεήσατε αυτούς ότι ουκ έλαβεν ανήρ εαυτώ γυναίκα εν τω πολέμω ότι ουχ υμείς δεδώκατε αυτοίς κατά τον καιρόν ον επλημμελήσατε |
| 23And the children of Benjamin did so; and they took wives according to their number from the dancers whom they seized: and they went and returned to their inheritance, and built the cities, and dwelt in them. | και εποίησαν ούτως οι υιοί Βενιαμίν και έλαβον γυναίκας κατά τον αριθμόν αυτών από των χορευουσών ων διήρπασαν και απήλθον και υπέστρεψαν επί την κληρονομίαν αυτών και ωκοδόμησαν τας πόλεις και κατώκησαν εν αυταίς |
| 24And the children of Israel went thence at that time every man to his tribe and his kindred; and they went thence every man to his inheritance. | και περιεπάτησαν εκείθεν οι υιοί Ισραήλ εν τω καιρώ εκείνω ανήρ εις την φυλήν αυτού και εις την συγγένειαν αυτού και εξήλθεν εκείθεν ανήρ εις την κληρονομίαν αυτού |
| 25And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own sight. | εν ταις ημέραις εκείναις ουκ ην βασιλεύς εν Ισραήλ ανήρ το ευθές εν οφθαλμοίς αυτού εποίει |
