Printer: G. Miller[edit]
@Inductiveload: Hello, I thought that the printer you were looking for is likely this fellow here: Scottish Book Trade Index: George Miller. The SBTI can be really useful for specifically Scottish printers. I don't know if this is enough to populate a wikidata page for him? AndrewOfWyntoun (talk) 09:31, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
- There's also Page:The Millers of Haddington, Dunbar and Dunfermline - Couper - 1914.djvu/84. Turns out there are more Cheap Tracts in two series in the 1820s, so this page probably needs to be moved one day to Cheap Tracts (1802-3) or similar.
- Creating a Wikidata page doesn't need anything really. Just a name and description is enough to claim an ID. Obviously you can add human, male, printer, Scottish and the dates and you've got an item. I can't immediately find a VIAF ID, though, and searches are also clogged with two other printers called Goerge Miller from London, a roughly contemporaneous priest and an actor. - Unfortunately I don't have remote access to OCLC, but did find this: http://viaf.org/viaf/39249842. The date of publication does match up with this item on our catalogue https://search.nls.uk/permalink/f/sbbkgr/44NLS_ALMA21430787010004341. But, annoyingly, this record has a different authority attached to it, 'Miller, George, 1771-1835' (which are his dates as given in the SBTI), which doesn't have a VIAF. However, if you do search our catalogue for 'Miller, George, of Dunbar', it does come up with most of the entries for Cheap Tracts, although these don't appear to be linked to VIAF.
