Setting up this page[edit]

@Inductiveload: Thanks for helping set up this page (it's my first time using Wikisource, coming from en-WP). There's an audio recording of the song from a 2000 Pomona College Glee Club performance here; I assume we can't embed that for copyright reasons, but would there be a way to include it as an external link?

Also, I'm not sure how much context Wikisource tends to provide. This song caused quite a bit of controversy in 2008 when it was discovered that it possibly was originally written for a blackface minstrel show, and it was basically retired as a result. Should that be noted? Sdkb (talk) 18:56, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Sdkb: I'm not 100% sure about linking to external non-free media. I think it's generally not done, but you can ask at WS:Scriptorium.
In terms of a blurb, you can add a very brief description as neutrally as possible and punt out to enWP for context, perhaps something like In 2008, it was discovered that it was possibly originally written for a blackface minstrel show, and it was essentially retired as a result.{{wikipediaref|Hail, Pomona, Hail}}.
