Usage

[edit]

This template calls {{Side by side}} to present a pair of verses from Quatrains of Omar Khayyam (tr. Whinfield, 1883) (the English and Persian) along with any notes.

Parameters

[edit]
  • 1: The verse number.
  • 2: The first of the page pair (the page with the English text)
  • 3: The offset of the verse notes (default 0, same page, use 1 for the next page).

Conditions

[edit]

The two pages must be sequential: English first, then Persian. The section titles must be simply the verse number. The notes of a verse must be the verse number followed by "n": e.g. "24n".

At dawn a cry through all the tavern shrilled,
"Arise my brethren of the revellers' guild,
That I may fill our measures full of wine,
Or e'er the measure of our days be filled."

کای رندِ خراباتیِ دیوانهٔ ما
برخیز که پر کنیم پیمانه ز می
زان پیش که پر کُنند پیمانهٔ ما
