Absolute linking[edit]
I changed the template to link absolutely, allowing it to work correctly outside the main namespace's subpages (eg on talk pages, sandboxes, pages and indexes). I don't see how using the relative link is any great benefit, as a namespace-based #if or #switch would still need the link to be fixed in the even of a move (unlikely), and there is no change in the text entered by an editor. - According to the Style guide, "Relative wikilinks should be used to link to another page of the same work. This shortens the code and ensures that a work remains linked together even if it is moved or reorganised." --Bwpach (talk) 22:28, 18 February 2010 (UTC)
- I know, but this is in a template, so one edit here will update all article links at a stroke. The absolute link is invisible to the editors anyway. This way, the template works in the page namespace (scans are now available, so this will become more important). If a relative link is used it will be broken in all but the main namespace, meaning that an editor cannot see if a new link is working or not until the page is saved and transcluded.
