Redundant to {{versions}}[edit]

I'm not sure that I see the value to this template unless it's going to link to other languages too, even then I'm not sure it adds value. {{versions}} does the same thing with respect to the text but is more broadly useful as it can work for texts originally in English as well; and normally we only care about the English translations anyway. Author information should probably be in author space. This seems like creating too many options, I just discovered this template and have worked with numerous translations. I don't see that it would add anything I don't already have. I recommend we merge it into {{versions}}.--Doug.(talk contribs) 11:40, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name collision - there is a separate template called Template:Translation[edit]

This template and Template:Translation are unrelated, yet have extremely similar names. I have suggested above (and am discussing on Template talk:Versions) the possible merger of this template with versions. At the same time I see this name collision as a serious issue needing this template to change names. I suggest that this template and Template:Translation both change to other names and both of these pages become dabs to those. If there is sufficient agreement to merge, then we could complete the merger and change the redirect here to a dab. If there is not, we still need to find a solution to the collision.--Doug.(talk contribs) 09:51, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
