LAWS OF BAR'KHU AND ITS RESPONSES COMPRISING

דין ברכו וענייתו.

אומר שליח צבור ברכו את ה' המבורך ועונין אחריו ברוך ה' המבורך לעולם ועד וחוזר ש"צ ואומר ברוך ה' המבורך לעולם ועד: נהגו שהש"צ מאריך בברכו והקהל אומרים יתברך וישתבח וכו' בעוד שהוא מאריך בברכו (טור):

The prayer leader says: bar'khu et Adonai ha-mevorach, and they [the congregation] answer after him: barukh Adonai ha-mevorach l'olam va'ed, then the chazzan returns and says: barukh Adonai ha-mevorach l'olam va'ed. Gloss: And the have practiced that the prayer leader lengthens "bar'khu", and the congregation say "Yitbarakh va-yishtabach..." while he is extending "bar'khu" (Tur).

מקום שנהגו לצעוק על חבריהם בין קדיש וברכו ליוצר אור או לדבר בצרכי רבים טועים הם (וע"ל ס"ס נ"ד):

A place where they're accustomed to call out [announcements etc.] at their fellows between Kaddish and Bar'khu to Yotzer Or, or to speak regarding the needs of the public, they err. (See above, Siman 54)
