623:1[edit]During Neilah, we say Ashrei and Kaddish but not Uva Letzion. Rem"a: I already wrote that the practice in these countries is to say Ashrei and Uva Letzion before Neilah. |
סעיף א לנעילה אומר אשרי וקדיש ואין אומר ובא לציון. הגה וכבר כתבתי דהמנהג במדינות אלו לומר אשרי ובא לציון קודם נעילה: |
623:2[edit]The time for Neilah is when the sun as at the tops of the trees such that it will be finished near sunset. The hazzan should minimize selichot and verses in the middle of the Amidah and similarly should not elongate each and every word like he does in other serves so that it will finish with the sunset. (And we say "Seal us" instead of "Write us" (Tur).) |

623:3[edit]If it is Shabbat, we mention Shabbat. However, in the Confession after the Amidah we do not mention Shabbat. The previous statement applies to the individual. When the hazzan prays, because he mentioned Shabbat as part of his Amidah, he also mentions Shabbat [in the Confession]. If he doesn't mention Shabbat, he need not repeat. |

623:6[edit]At the end of selichot, we say "the Lord is God" seven times. (And "Hear Israel" once and "Blessed is the Name of the glory of His Kingdom forever" thrice (Minhagim) and see 61.) We then sound tekiah-shevarim-teruah-tekiah. Rem"a: There are those who hold only to sound one tekiah (Mordechai, Hagahot Maimoni the end of the laws of Yom Kippur, and Agur), and this is the practice in these countries. We blow the shofar after we say the kaddish after Neilah. Some places have the custom of sounding it before kaddish. |
