Two addresses sent to King William III concerning the 1689 Boston Revolt (1689)
Henry Ashurst, Simon Bradstreet, and William III

Taking place in the aftermath of the Glorious Revolution in 1688, the 1689 Boston Revolt occurred when colonial militia arrested governor Edmund Andros and several other royal officials, triggering the collapse of the Dominion of New England and the effective restoration of government in Massachusetts Bay according to the terms of the colony's pre-Dominion charter. Shortly after the revolt, Massachusetts Bay officials led by Simon Bradstreet sent two addresses to William III of England which explained their justifications for arresting Andros and listed the present state of affairs in the colony, while also affirming their loyalty to the new king.
