Part I Part II Part III

notes on other probs found during work: Coast guard, multi-person-titles

90 distinct persons. Of these, 23 are unidentified ones about whom I know essentially nothing beyond the date and description of the document they appear in, but I'm certain none of those duplicate any other.

couldn't resist throwing in two other resources I found along the way, II.2 and II.6

I'm afraid that, not knowing exactly how your data collation process works, I may not have sent you my corrections in the form you would have preferred. So I've indexed the information three different ways, as I'll explain below. Also, on a previous occasion I sent you a note indicating that a particular archival resource was to be moved from one record to another, and you made the correction; at that time I'd assumed that the associated Places, Subjects, and so forth would travel with the resource, but I found that that was not true, as they are still in the original record -- this time, therefore, I've gone into great, possibly redundant, detail, about what is to be corrected. I hope I've managed to organize the information clearly enough.

As I know you're aware, many of the records have been automatically attached to a VIAF ID that has nothing to do with the archival resources in the record, and in most cases the record heading is generated from that VIAF ID, leading to a mismatch between heading and resources. I wasn't sure what to do about recording corrections to such records; I finally opted to write as though the VIAF ID defined a record from which archival resources should be shifted to other records where they actually belong, potentially leaving the record empty. Therefore, in Part II of my document, the index of all James Baker SNAC IDs with indication of what should be corrected or moved in each record, some records have had all contents except the VIAF ID listed as to-be-moved.

===[edit]

Part I is the key to everything: it's a full description of the 90 records you would end up with if you completely rearranged the data. Parts II and III are alternate ways of describing sections of the information in Part I.

Talk a lot about moving things out of records with irrelevant external links because that's the least clear

For the Record: a list of the VIAF-generated records that I moved everything out of

73286496 Baker, James K. I am not entirely sure who this is supposed to be a record for -- maybe the person identified by the VIAF record? That is James K. Baker, a computer speech recognition researcher, see Wikidata Q6137041. He has no Archival Resources to be associated with him. In this record, none of the sources except VIAF pertain to him (and therefore none of the Places or Subjects do). As for alternate names, "Baker, Jaems" is indeed a form of his name, but "Baker, James, of Add MS 39672" is not. The Exist Dates and biographical snippets don't pertain to him (and indeed, the epithet "of Add MS 39672" isn't exactly an epithet since it derives from a British Library archives code). ALSO in Archival Resources the british library.

1. The archival resources collected in this record pertain to a great number of different people, only some of whom I have managed to identify. i. Baker, James, active 1750-1775 Contributor to "Daniel Baker financial papers, 1750-1848." Although you indicate that the repository for these papers is the Massachutts Historical Society, they're not on the list of collections on the society's website. The WorldCat record doesn't say where they are, and I haven't been able to find any other mention of them online. What's more, I couldn't further identify either Daniel (active 1804-1848 in Hubbardston and Princeton, Mass.) or his grandfather James (active 1750-1775). 3 Composite records

For the record, Baker Mercantile Company. https://legacy.lib.utexas.edu/taro/ttusw/00011/00011-P.html : Baker, Artie, 1896-1975. Baker, Dorsey, 1903–1998. Baker, Guernes, 1917-1983. Baker, James Artemas, 1859-1917. Baker, Mary, 1908–2000. Baker, Robin, 1894–1965. Baker, Alice (Sarah Alice Ratliff), 1867-1967. McGavock, Dimple Baker, 1898-1991. http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/23237722 names all these people except J.A. and Robin, which may be an oversight. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/taro/ttusw/00136/00136-P.html The inventory summary only explicitly names James Artemas Baker 1859-1917, but mentions the "Baker Brothers" (i.e. Artie and Robin).

Baker, Jimmy. Artist file: miscellaneous uncataloged material. http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/123567497 It is not clear which artist named Jimmy Baker this MoMA file is for. It might be Jimmy Baker 1980- (Wikidata Q6199560), but there are probably others by the same name. I don't think it is Jimmy Baker c. 1910-2015 (IA.82 / SNAC 46929204), an indigenous Australian artist, since he is not likely to interest MoMA, mpr being American nor part of European-descended modern art movements.
