Ebooks in Wikisource include images as files that are stored in Wikimedia Commons. These are called up for display with the text using a link—most basic:[[File:Image Name Here.jpg|frameless]] or with a template such as {{FIS}}.

E.g.

[[File:ARL3DI.png|frameless]]

Proofreading[edit]

Captions[edit]

If the template includes a caption then please proofread this. As a rule, the image is placed between paragraphs where possible, to aid proofreading. If there is solid text on the page, place image at the top or bottom as appropriate. Separate the image and caption from the main text with blank lines, top and bottom. The final placement will be decided on transclusion.
Note some templates automatically format the caption, in which case you leave the caption unformatted for universal formatting i.e. where the format applies for all of the text. Manual formatting is needed when there is mixed formatting i.e. Some of the text is different size, small caps, italics etc. The Project's Discussion tab should specify how images will be formatted e.g. which template is used. You can check the formatting with the Preview function. You should add formatting manually to the caption if no template is used or if formatting is not part of the template. Determine the appropriate settings from the template's page (from list at the bottom of the edit page). Or mark page "Problematic"; Summary: caption formatting needed, and noting "Djvu page no.: caption formatting needed" on the Project discussion tab.

E.g. (mixed formatting)

{{FIS
|file=Darwin restored2.jpg
|width=25%
|caption=The author of ''On the origin of species by means of natural selection'':{{Smallcaps|Charles Darwin}}.}}

The author of On the origin of species by means of natural selection:Charles Darwin.

Missing image[edit]

If this link is missing (i.e. the file has not been uploaded to Wiki Commons):

1. Mark with {{missing image}} where the image should be and mark "Problematic". This puts the page in the Category:Pages with missing images. If you want to practise image adding skills, this is the place to go.

2. Proofread and format any caption text as it is printed, preserving the line breaks. If the caption falls in the middle of a paragraph, use blank lines to set it apart from the rest of the text. Text that could be (part of) a caption should be included, such as "See page 66" or a title within the bounds of the illustration.

If the Project discussion suggests a template, this can be "pre" included. The <pre>template here</pre> tags stop the template from being called up, but has it prepared for when the image is uploaded. The pre tags are removed then. Unfortunately this also prevents you checking the formatting of the caption with the preview function. This will have to be checked later.

Example of Proofread Missing image with mixed formatting caption:

<pre>
{{missing image}}

{{FIS
|file=
|caption={{Smallcaps|Fig}}. 8.—Platinum wires, ''a'' and ''b'', with nerve, ''n'', stretched across them}}

Adding images[edit]

If the image is missing, you could add the image (Upload it to Wikimedia Commons).
