@Beeswaxcandle: Thanks for the warm welcome! I do have one point I think worth raising, and as I am lacking a proper keyboard due to being away from home for the summer, I’m going to take the low-effort approach of doing so here.
It was absurdly difficult to find guidelines about how to treat obvious errors in the source text. I had to search help discussions until I stumbled upon this discussion of John(s) Hopkins. I don’t know if you are involved in editing the help/style pages, but maybe you can tell me if there exists any more polished guidelines on the matter that I simply couldn’t find?

Covered in Help:Beginner's guide to proofreading#Do not include. It's also mentioned on Help:Annotating, but that's a less obvious place to go to for a new editor. Improvements to any of our help pages are most welcome—particularly those in the Beginner series. Beeswaxcandle (talk) 03:54, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
Doesn’t really paint an overall picture of values and goals, but better than nothing—thanks! jameslucas ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄ 13:03, 9 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
