Hi Naaman, I noticed you doing some work on Tamerlane, good choice! If you are interested I have uploaded a scan of RH Shepherd's reprint of the original, Index:Tamerlane_and_other_poems_(1884).djvu, its got his preface and one by Poe. If you go to this link[1] you will see an OCR text layer appearing. You may want to use this file to support your work, let me know if you need a hand getting started. I transcribed the text from a PDF of Shepherd's facsimile obtained through Google (my goal being to reproduce the text as a reader of 1827 would find it). I note Shepherd faulted Ingram for introducing errata, so I guess I was being pretty brazen (considering I found typos in mine even after posting). Thanks, and as time permits I will reconcile my transcription against your textand the scan. Naaman Brown (talk) 14:36, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Oops, I forgot to mention here that I couldn't resist doing it myself. I did a text comparison, using your work, and discovered some errors in my conversion; yours was much closer to Shepherd's text. That editor was pretty harsh on Ingram, even in the Index; Shepherd is pretty good, but others have criticised him too. There is a couple of sites that have scholarly transcriptions, and a photographic facsimile around, I'll see what I can find and plunder. I'll make a note on the talk that you started the transcription, let me know if you want the page history split to that page. Regards, Cygnis insignis (talk) 15:29, 12 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
