{{helpme}} Thank you for the warm welcome! I do have a question, which I haven't found a clear answer on yet.

I work at a public library, and we are interested in creating transcriptions of our podcast archive. There are approximately 300 hours in 200 podcasts, and they are mostly interviews and discussions with authors about their work. Is Wikisource an appropriate home for this project? I would bring in interested staff and volunteers to help work on the transcriptions, but much of the content could be interesting to broader audiences.

Thanks! Prairieskygal (talk) 17:57, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

hi, source tends to be more document oriented. it's hard getting interest to do transcripts. i expect the process is upload to commons (for example like here [1]); then transcript in source. you may want to invite volunteers to put transcripts on your website, for example like the Archives of American Art here [2]. but let's talk at the walters, or come on down to edit-a-thon at Smithsonian August 10 [3] Slowking4 (talk) 21:49, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply! My plan for the workflow was to create an automated transcript using Dragon, then upload that document to be edited with the audio (perhaps stored in Commons, if that's best) as a reference. In the best of circumstances, it's very time consuming. However, some of the content is very exciting. I will be at the Walters on Saturday. Looking forward to talking more.Prairieskygal (talk) 6 Aug 2012
