Defaultsorting author pages

Hey Zhaladshar. I see you've been manually adding {{DEFAULTSORT}} to author pages. Since many author pages have sort keys defined, Pathosbot could do most of the work automatically, leaving only pages without sort keys. This would be a good time to re-add sorting to the author template, too. What do you think? —{admin} Pathoschild 04:57, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

User name change request for User:Psychonaut

I am w:User:Psychonaut.

The Wikisource account User:Psychonaut was blocked because it was being used to vandalize WikiSource pages. The vandal in question was w:User:JarlaxleArtemis (see w:WP:JARLAXLE); he was responsible for impersonating me on a number of Wikimedia projects. I have since gained control of this account by guessing its password.

I would like to ask that you rename this account so that I can recreate User:Psychonaut from scratch. I do not wish to be associated with the vandalism edits on this account.

I have left a message on w:User talk:Psychonaut#Wikisource confirming that I have sent this message.

Reverend Loveshade's Five Blind Men and an Elephant

I'm sure you were trying to protect a copyright when you deleted this story, just like you said. I think it's great that you're trying to protect people. But I can show you that it is not copyrighted. You can see it on Reverend Loveshade's own site at http://discordia.loveshade.org/apocrypha/elephant.html. It says there "In the true Discordian tradition, use this story for free--just please credit the author, Reverend Loveshade. Otherwise you will be turned into a Chairman Mao button." You can also see it in Apocrypha Discordia on page 13. Sorry I don't have a link that book handy but you can find it on the Internet. That whole book isn't copyrighted. Thanks for listening! Namaste. I am not sure where I should put this. Though it is in sanskrit, I am transliterating it into IAST so that those unfamiliar with Devanagari may read it. Also, this is in fact incomplete; I had left the text in a different town and only recently retrieved. CommonsTicker: CommonsTicker, The Next Generation

I am currently testing a new version of CommonsTicker (dubbed CommonsTicker NG) on the german Wikipedia - problems with ticker pages growing too large made a partial rewrite necessary. Most changes are "under the hood", the larges change for users is in the way the ticker page is structured and updated:

CommonsTicker will now create a subpage for each day, and include this as a template on the ticker page. New entries for a given day are added to the respective subpage without modifying existing entries on that subpage. Old subpages (sections) are removed automatically from the main ticker page - per default, 7 sections are kept (days for which there are no entries are not counted). Please check that your ticker page has both start- and end-markers for the region where CommonsTicker should post (see m:User:Duesentrieb/CommonsTicker#Ticker_Page); everything between the markers will be replaced. If the markers are missing, the entire page is replaced.

When I have finished testing CommonsTicker NG, I will activate the new version on the wikis where CommonsTicker is currently disabled due to problems with page size (the large projects I mentioned in the last announcement). When all goes well, I will start to switch other wikis to NG one by one, as seems convenient. If you want the new version soon, or you don't want it yet for some reason, please tell me about it on m:User:Duesentrieb/CommonsTicker#Change_Requests.

Expanded bot run

Hello Zhaladshar. You volunteered to help with the header bot run, but I expanded the scope after you did so. Since it will be affecting most pages on Wikisource, I added various standardization and normalization tasks Pathosbot commonly performs. This will make reviewing some pages more difficult (typical changes: nearly standard, most common, less common) although the error rate for the extra tasks should be virtually zero. Hi, I fixed all the links in Moby-Dick to link to the newer more appropirately named articles, only to find only half of the chapters have been moved (and thus half my changes made for bad links now). Archive provision

I first found it when researching info for the Wikisource talk:Copyright policy#Orphan Works discussion. The part of the US Code referenced is United States Code/Title 17/Chapter 1/Section 108 in particular item h. The report on orphan works by the US Copyright office (which first pointed me to this provision) had the following analysis Section 108 relies expressly on the concept of reasonableness: the terms “reasonable investigation” and “reasonable price” are central to its operation. However, section 108(h) defines neither of these terms. Hello Zhaladshar, you made some comments to another user on the WS:MESSIANIC Portal regarding the project. I'm afraid I don't understand what you meant to say. Ok. I think I understand. But to be fair, there really is a lot of material. I have a book that catalogues the writings of Jewish Believers in Jesus going back to within 300 years of the time of Christ, it's about [going from memory] 450-500 pages long. Granted, not all of it is in English, much of the works are in German, Latin and Hebrew. I created the project page, in addition to the portal, because I expect to be doing a lot of work between Wikisource EN, HE and LA. As long as my scanner holds out (I really do need a new one) I expect the project to grow.
I kind of took my queue from the OpenMishah project. Which, could be said to be even more narrow. It too is in the Wikisource name space. So, might I ask how it is I am too narrow (several works) and the OpenMishnah project is Ok, when it is in essence one multi-volume (35 volumes in the Soncino press edition) work? Or, am I still missing your point? Understand I'm not trying to be combative, I'm just trying to respect your wishes / policy, but also keep my project going. A small request

Hi, dear Zhaladshar! We have never met before, since I've just registered this account; I need to ask you a favor, however. I'm an active editor and administrator at En.wiki, and I wish to contribute to Wikisource and expand my editing activity to this project. To my unpleasant surprise, when I tried to register an account, I discovered that an impersonator had registered it a few weeks ago (Phaedriel (talk • contribs)) with the sole purpose of vandalizing my friend Shanel's talk page. Of course, that account was blocked, and I was wondering if you could rename it and move this one I've just registered to that name. I'm posting a message at my En.Wiki talk page as confirmation of my identity.
