Rabbi Nachman of Breslov

Hi, I've tried to help with some of the initial organization. I created an author page for Rabbi Nachman based on your initial work; the author page is where you are supposed to list the titles of his works. You can also create another page for Rabbi Nathan's original works if that is appropriate.

I've moved the titles of all the books to simpler ones, there is no need to use subpages for the main title of a work. The author's name need not be in the title, all you need to do is include it in the Header template, and also categorize the book.

I've put Template:Incomplete on the texts, because they really all need a lot of editing and formatting, as well as information on the sources of the translations. It would be great if scans of the translations could be uploaded too. I assume that given the nature of Breslov these can be made available under a free license, but this still needs to be verified and documented. A translation is still copyrighted even if the original is not.

I've put links back and forth from the Hebrew for Author:Nachman of Breslov. Take a look at them in order to learn how to do it.

Did a little tidy up, and have put in place some tidier redirects, and they will be removed in a few months, once the internet has fixed its links. Well, except for this page Breslev/Introduction. Is this a page of a work, or is it a piece of construction? If the former, what is the work that it belongs to, and we will move and align it; if the second, then we will need to put the data elsewhere. Licensing

Hi, texts that you add be licensed under the license of the project, which there is a link to at the bottom of every page (the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike license).

What is unclear to me is the origin of your translations:

• Are they entirely your own work (in which case the license is automatic and you need not state anything)?
• Or have you found them somewhere else (in which case the translator would need to give his permission to post them according to the site license)?

As far as how to label such things, there unfortunately isn't any official policy on this (to the best of my knowledge), but the custom has been to credit Wikisource translators (who are recorded on the "history" page), i.e. "translated by Wikisource" as you can see for example in the headers here and here. A great many examples of translations done by Wikisource contributors themselves may be found here, to use as examples. Dovi (talk) 04:38, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi, when you upload your own translations to Wikisource, you should not specify anything about licenses or conditions, because you are automatically uploading them according to the free license of the website (CC-CY-SA). This license requires anyone who uses the translation to allow others to use it as well for free. However, it does not exclude commercial use, and you cannot specify non-commercial use according to Wikimedia policy (because such a specification is not considered Open Content). Adding Images to Tales of Rabbi Nachman

Hello, I tried to add images to the story and uploaded a file called Day 1.jpg but then tried to rename the file to be more specific but it said I do not have permission. ? Thank you, Nissimnanach (talk) 01:22, 27 May 2010 (UTC)Nissimnanach

File renaming is problematic, hence the developers restrict that access. Are the files here or at Commons? I have permissions to rename at both wikis so I can attend to the issue. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:01, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

these are illustrations to the Tale of the Seven Beggars from Tales of Rabbi Nachman so they should be renamed to something like SevenBeggars-Day 1 etc. thank you And why doesn't the link work even with the current names? I have looked at the images, and added Commons:Template:Information which we will need to further complete especially around author and copyright. The images look reasonably modern, are they part of the original works or are they from a different source? Images may have their own copyright, depending on the contractual arrangement for their inclusion in works.

<shrug> moved them onsite so they have the newer names locally, then transferred them both to Commons. The links should work fine. They have the descriptions and you would do well to go and add some categories to them. — billinghurst sDrewth 04:31, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

Hebrew formatting

I fixed the wrapping problem, there was a specific code in {{hebrewtop}} which made that happen, and it does not seem to be necessary anywhere I found it used, so it is gone now.

As far as enlarging the first word, this would have to be done manually by using {{Dropinitial-Rtl}} like so:

נימוסי הדתות כלם לא ישוו לדתנו.
חכמיהם בדו מלבם נימוסים בשכלם האנושי.
משה עלה למרום וענן לבושו.
נמצא המחיב דבר עמו בכל פעם, ופרש מן האשה:

However, I don't know if this will appear good on every computer. The bottom line is it is very hard to get a web site to look consistent under every operating system/browser configuration, especially if you don't know what fonts the system has available. --Eliyak T·C 01:48, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
