Information indicates that he was British, and also showing as a mechanic. [1]. Genealogical data is sparse. Not a lot of John Helston's, though also a name that can have many variations, eg. Elston, Hulston, Hailstone, etc. The birth year of 1877 looks dubious, so treating with caution. Being British, and with those skills, it is possible that was enlisted in WWI and there is some evidence of the name, the bibliography is sparse.
