Year of publication

The work itself has no date of publication. The letter in the preface was written after the publication of Views in the Ionian Islands (1863), but probably not long after. I'd guess 1864 or maybe 1865 at the latest. This edition of the Book of Nonsense was published when the letter was "nearly a quarter of a century" old, I'd take that to mean 23-24 years. This gives an approximate publication date of 1886-1889. Lear died in 1888, which I think the preface would have mentioned, which narrows it down to 1886-1888. I've put the estimated date of publication at 1887 for this reason. Unfortunately it isn't possible to put "circa" in the date parameter in the Index page. —Beleg Tâl (talk) 15:54, 8 July 2019 (UTC)
