Translation[edit]

The following preface is attached to the 1878 edition of Chapman and Hall, whose translation is identical to the present scan:

The text of the present translation of the Imitation of Christ is the same as that issued by Messrs. Rivingstons in 1876, to whom the thanks of the publishers are due for their permission to make use of it in this edition.

Chapter header formatting[edit]

Use temporary template {{IOC header}} to easily format the chapter headers:

Drop Initials in image form[edit]

Chapters begin with text containing fancy drop initials, as in the example found on page 5, which looks like
