Links for this kind of indexes[edit]

@Xover Where can I find some help about this kind of pages? I'd like to avoid my usual temptation of rediscovering the wheel... The best would be to build a double link for pages (pointing to nsPage from nsPage, to ns0 from ns0), but a simple link to nsPage would be much simpler. --Alex brollo (talk) 16:10, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Alex brollo: Hmm. I don't think we have guidance for indices specifically. But as rule of thumb 1) you'll want to keep them as simple as possible, and 2) as a rule, page numbers should not be linked. Indices like this have little utility in the age of computerised search, so we reproduce them to be faithful more than because they are a useful finding aid in an electronic edition. And similarly, in an electronic edition like this the page numbers have no real meaning. If we want to get fancy we can link the term (headword) to a suitable anchor in the wikipage where it is discussed, but then we link by topic not by page number.
If you absolutely insist on linking the page numbers (which I strongly recommend against), there are a number of templates that can be used for the purpose. {{spl}} is probably the most apposite here. Xover (talk) 07:53, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Xover Thanks! I'm happy to avoid linking. Sadly, different wikisource projects show a "divergent evolution", and it.wikisource follows a different approach. Alex brollo (talk) 12:42, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
