Header template
[edit]A 3-letter! header template {{BDA}} designed by TE(æ)A,ea. (talk • contribs) with some issues like the initial 's' for the sections, or without passing the other parameters to {{header}}, etc. An experienced user needed to suggest the proper improves, please. --Francois-Pier (talk) 08:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, sections should all be in the form “sx,” where x represents the number of the sections; the template is designed with this in mind. TE(æ)A,ea. (talk) 14:59, 6 November 2020 (UTC).
- Francois-Pier, this is an inappropriate place for this discussion, as this work is not sufficiently well-known that others may comment on this discussion. You should either redact your complaint, and use the template I have created, or bring this discussion to a more open forum for consideration. Thank you. TE(æ)A,ea. - @TE(æ)A,ea. (talk • contribs): I did not express any complaint, you did it, who trying to force me to use your template, without a discussion in the project for this template. But, we can not force users to define sections the way we want, or to not mention the sister projects, etc. Try to improve your template, and take a look to the other templates of similar works. Thanks again. --Francois-Pier (talk) 02:43, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- Francois-Pier: You have complained here, after my insistence that you use the template. All works of such a scale as this one should use an identical, standardised header template, and I have designed one for this purpose. Your refusal to use this template is antithetical to the organisation of this work as a whole. If you do not like the template as it is, and do not know how yourself to correct it in the manner you wish it to be corrected, you may bring your complaint to a more visible forum, as I have said repeatedly, so that it may be properly heard. - @TE(æ)A,ea. (talk • contribs): I agree, we need a BDA-header template. Find some users for the community to improve your template. A bot can replace all these headers in the future. You must understand I cannot use it right now, because I put in the header the sister projects, etc. --Francois-Pier (talk) 03:08, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, and I have created a template for that purpose. If you would, please use it. If the template is lacking something you would like to see in the template, you can add it; and, if you are unable, you may ask somewhat who knows how to edit templates to do so for you. TE(æ)A,ea. Comment With biographical works it is more resilient to name the section with the same name as the article. This makes transclusion easier as you don't need to know any number, you can just use {{SUBPAGENAME. I would suggest that there are better models of how to do this template, rather than starting a different approaches and parameter names. — billinghurst sDrewth 23:24, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia templates
[edit]I have created Wikipedia:template:Cite BDA1906 to allow Wikipedia article to link to this Wikisource instance of The Biographical Dictionary of America. Over the next day or so, I will create the other two standard templates Wikipedia:template:BDA1906 (which incorporates attribution prescript for text copied from here), and Wikipedia:template:BDA1906 poster (for use in the "External links" section of a Wikipedia article). -- PBS (talk) 10:45, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
