Title 4 Offences relating to religion

มาตรา๒๐๖ผู้ใดกระทำด้วยประการใด ๆ แก่วัตถุหรือสถานอันเป็นที่เคารพในทางศาสนาของหมู่ชนใด อันเป็นการเหยียดหยามศาสนานั้น ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกไม่เกินสามปี หรือปรับไม่เกินหกพันบาท หรือทั้งจำทั้งปรับ

Section206.Anyone who commits in whatever manner against an object or place of religious worship of any community of people [an act] which constitutes desecration[1] of such religion, incurs a penalty of imprisonment not over three years, or fine not over six thousand baht, or both such imprisonment and fine.”

มาตรา๒๐๗ผู้ใดก่อให้เกิดการวุ่นวายขึ้นในที่ประชุมศาสนิกชนเวลาประชุมกันนมัสการหรือกระทำพิธีกรรมตามศาสนาใด ๆ โดยชอบด้วยกฎหมาย ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกไม่เกินหนึ่งปี หรือปรับไม่เกินสองพันบาท หรือทั้งจำทั้งปรับ

Section207.Anyone who causes disorder amongst[2] a meeting of religious adherents at the time of [their] lawful meeting [for performing] a service[3] or conducting a rite in accordance with any religion, incurs a penalty of imprisonment not over one year, or fine not over two thousand baht, or both such imprisonment and fine.

มาตรา๒๐๘ผู้ใดแต่งกายหรือใช้เครื่องหมายที่แสดงว่าเป็นภิกษุ สามเณร นักพรต หรือนักบวชในศาสนาใดโดยมิชอบ เพื่อให้บุคคลอื่นเชื่อว่าตนเป็นบุคคลเช่นว่านั้น ต้องระวางโทษจำคุกไม่เกินหนึ่งปี หรือปรับไม่เกินสองพันบาท หรือทั้งจำทั้งปรับ

Section208.Anyone who wrongfully dresses [as] or uses a sign signifying [the condition of] being a phiksu, sammanen, nakphrot, or nakbuat[4] in any religion so as to cause another to believe that he is such a person, incurs a penalty of imprisonment not over one year, or fine not over two thousand baht, or both such imprisonment and fine.

   1. Phiksu (Thai: ภิกษุ), from Sanskrit bhikṣu (“beggar”), refers to a “man ordained as a priest in Buddhism”.
   2. Sammanen (Thai: สามเณร), from Pali sāmaṇera (“progeny of samaṇa”), refers to a “person assuming priesthood like a phiksu but merely observing the Ten Precepts”.
   3. Nakphrot (Thai: นักพรต), from Thai nak (agent noun prefix) + phrot (“asceticism”), refers to a “practitioner of phrot”.
   4. Nakbuat (Thai: นักบวช), from Thai nak (agent noun prefix) + buat (“to ordain”), refers to a “person who has been ordained according to any cult or religion, as phiksu, sammanen, or bat-luang [Christian priest]”.
